  1. Thanks, I'll save that link.
  2. I'm in the United States. NYC
  3. Thanks everyone for the suggestions and insight. I appreciate it. I'll start looking into dairy free stuff, and I'll try and get the DF culturelle.
  4. Wow, I didn't know that the villi produced the lactase. And no my doctor never mentioned going dairy free. It was just strict gluten free diet at first, and then she told me to take a multivitamin once a day and folic acid twice a week to see if I feel better. My next appointment with her is in March. I'm really thinking about all of this now and I...
  5. Hi, so I'm 21 now and I would like to be able to go with friends to bars without worrying so much about getting glutened. Can anybody recommend alcohol brands that are safe? Have any favorites?
  6. No I haven't eliminated anything from my diet but gluten. I also try to eat as healthy as I can. I would be so disappointed if I were discover I had an intolerance to dairy, I couldn't imagine giving up milk.
  7. Thanks for the suggestions. I've never heard of the skin prick testing for allergies. Perhaps that's something I should look into.
  8. So I've been on the Gluten Free diet for about 7 months now but I still don't feel completely better. I try my very best to not get glutened, I rarely eat outside because I fear contamination. Just a quick background: Before I went on this diet my main symptoms were: abnormal bowel movements every morning + Stomach nausea. Since being on this diet...
  9. Here's one source that explains brown rice syrup: Open Original Shared Link I will contact Glee Gum soon to find out.
  10. If you eliminated gluten from your diet before you got the blood work done, that's why it showed up negative. A celiac should be instructed by the doctor to continue eating gluten while the tests are being done so that the diagnosis can be accurate. However, even if you didn't have celiac disease, if eating gluten free makes you feel better, you should always...
  11. Actually I just noticed one of the ingredients on the Glee Gum is brown rice syrup. usually this is made through a process that includes barley so I'm gonna call them to make sure.
  12. Cool I'll Keep my eye open. Also I just found this gum called Glee Gum, it says gluten free on the back of the package. Awesome! Open Original Shared Link
  13. No you are not crazy. There's just something about regular bread that can get nauseating after a while. My favorite is actually Udi's bread (confusing right?, there's one called Rudi's and one called Udi's lol) But Yeah, Udi's is my favorite so far and it doesn't require refrigeration.
  14. Interesting, I will check that out.
  15. So Recently I emailed the company Wrigley which makes a lot of the gum products we're familiar with (Double Mint, Winter Fresh, Juicy Fruit, etc) and I asked which of their products are free of gluten. They basically gave me a list of what ISN'T gluten free, and that list is very small, everything else is fine to eat Here's the response: Thank you...
  16. Oh cool I didn't know that. Thanks
  17. awesome links thank u!
  18. So with Halloween coming up I would like to know which candies and treats are gluten free? Please post the candies you know. I recently found out that Sixlets are gluten free: Open Original Shared Link I bought a pack and it even says gluten free right on the front.
  19. Thanks. I won't be able to make the long island event, but I'll definitely join the meetup group.
  20. So apparently INCI labeling, which stand for: "International Nomenclature of Cosmetic Ingredients" is like the cosmetic equivalent of the Food Allergen Labeling And Consumer Protection (Falpca). It's basically a requirement for consumer safety which means cosmetics must list all ingredients used, including GLUTEN ingredients (wheat, rye, barley, oats). ...
  21. Thank you. This is good information to know. I wonder why here in America we don't have a legal definition of gluten free. I've read about that in other places as well. It seems so absurd. Hopefully this can change soon, I'm not sure what steps will be necessary to make that change. Time to research I guess.
  22. So this is something that bothers me because it seems like a contradiction. It's when a product says "gluten free" on it, but on the back it also says that their plant processes several things including WHEAT GERM. AHHHHH red flag! (it doesn't have to be wheat germ specifically, it can be any gluten allergen, my product just happens to say so) So is it actually...
  23. What would be best is to get tested specifically for Celiac Disease to see if that's what you have. Also, you shouldn't go on a gluten free diet right before you're about to get tested for Celiac, otherwise the results can come up as if you don't have the disease even though you might.
  24. I'm still new to the gluten free lifestyle and it can sure be a headache. Since even a trace amount of gluten can be harmful, I start getting paranoid about possibilities of getting contaminated. -Some of these may sound silly, but for example I'll think "Hey...what if there's gluten in tap water? I don't have a water filter and I know various things...
  25. Good to know. I'll try to keep sharp. Usually I like to look things up online as well so I can see a wider amount of sources, as long as the sources are good ones.
