  1. I'm struggling with the same issue, trying to get that score down. Stop the gluten-free Oats, until the score is down to 20 at least. I'm starting to eliminate Gluten Free processed food, and ingesting Certified Gluten Free only. I may eliminate those as well if I don't see the results I want. I've considered starting to use my own dishware separate from...
  2. There's one this weekend in Phoenix (actually Glendale, AZ at the University of Phx stadium). I was hesitant on going due to the admission cost, but since you folks gave it such a great review, I'm planning on attending. Thanks! I'll post a review after attending for my first time.
  3. Good to hear. How was the bun? Udi's bread is the best I have found, but it does not work very well as a hamburger bun, and Udi's hamburger buns SUCK!
  4. Hi all, I'm 47 years old, diagnosed celiac and gluten free for 8 mo now. For the past 8 weeks I have been experiancing extreme pain and stiffness in both knees. This pain developed with out any injury or trama to the knees. Both Primary and Orthopaedic doctors believe it's the begining stage of arthritis. X-rays show no indication of arthritis and MRIs...
  5. I thought that maybe there was an explaination to what degree of damage I had incured, or various degrees of celiacs. By the 3rd day of being gluten free, I knew this was the cure I had been searching for most of my life. I'm glad to see that others agree with me that a second biopsy in 6 mo was in his best interest, not mine. Thanks!!
  6. Prior to being gluten free, by the end of the day, my feet used to hurt and get this burning sensation. My lower back also used to be so stiff in the morning I had to roll out of bed because I could not sit up. Gluten free 2mo now.
  7. My biopsy was 2 mo ago, I just now got around to doing the follow up. I've been both gluten and latoce free since the day after the biopsy. Doctor wants to do another biopsy to see a healed small intestine. I think he wants another $185 from me and what ever the insurance give him. I was hoping all that jipperish ment more than I have the celiac disease...
  8. Went to the follow up visit today since my biopsy was done. Maybe an advanced member will understand it more than what I can make from it: Diagnosis: Features suggestive of celiac disease, Marsh Type IIIB. Microscopic description: The sections through the duodenal biopsy show fragments of ducdenal mucosa with marked villous atrophy. There is crypt...
  9. This is going to sound bad, but its the truth. Before going gluten free, I drink daily, mostly beer, canadian whiskey, and vodka were my pleasures. 6-8 beers or 2-4 double shot drinks, or combination of both. I still drink daily, but now it's New Grist gluten free beer, hard ciders, rum, and corn vodka. (I don't care for tequila). I did drink some grain...
  10. Purchased frozen pie crust Certified Gluten-Free with the CF logo inside a circle. Under the ingredients is the statment, contains: Tree Nuts. Facility also processes wheat, milk, eggs, soy, fish & peanuts. I'm concerned with the wheat. Is this not cross contamination? I'm puzzeled how it got its CF Certification. The company is Fabe's All Natural...
  11. O+, Hispanic with 1/8 Irish, Brown hair with red and blond mixed in (and some white now). My mother was a natural red. Eyes are brown. Undocumented, but very likely some native american from my fathers side.
  12. I did get a new toaster, to my surprise only $7 dollars, cheape at wal mart. I'll be sure and pick up a new colander, and replace everything else as needed. I have no wood items. Thanks!!
  13. I did exactly that. My first colonoscopy 8 years ago was not a plesent experiance. I recently had my second, and told them that my 1st was very unplesent. They juiced me up good, no complaints. I'll be sure and mention it in 3yrs when I have it done again.
  14. I'm 1/8 Irish, my grandfather was 1/2 Irish.
  15. It's been a month since my diagnose as celiac, and just going gluten free has done the trick. Do I necessarily need to purchase new cookwear, dishes and other kitchen utensills? Are some of us celiacs more sensitive than others? I want to do everything necessary, but not go overboard? Help please!
  16. It's been about a month now of knowing I'm celiac. I'm 46 yrs old, but can remember having restroom issues, and always needing to go to the nurses office as far back as 6th grade. It was just this past year that it got unbearable. I traveled back to my home state last weekend, and spoke to family members from both sides of my parents and no one can recall...
  17. After the blood work came back positive, I went gluten free the day after the biopse, but I knew I was celiac with in 3 days, even before the biopse results came back. I haven't been back for the followup, but I'm interested in the amount of damage my small intestent has endured. The confirmation is nice to have as well.
  18. I quess I'll avoid the soy milk as well, and go with the almond, coconut, or rice milk in my morning cereal. I'll experment a little with a sliced had cheeder, and see what happens. Thanks everyone.
  19. They are soy-based, cholesterol, lactose and gluten free. I'm eating them because I am now gluten free and trying to be lactose free as musch as possible while my small intestine heals itself, and I enjoy a slice of cheese in my sandwich. To be honest, I've never heard of casein free. This watching what I eat is all new to me. Is this something else I...
  20. Since going gluten free, Iv'e been using this brand of sliced cheese in my daily lunch. I can't really tell a difference between this and regular cheese, but find it interesting that not one of my 3 dogs (who love cheese) will eat this cheese.
  21. It's been about 3 weeks since I was diagnosed celiac, and have been both gluten free and lactose free, and feeling great. I don't mind the soy milk, and the lactose free coffee creamer, but I do miss the chocolat bar and have been unable to find lactose free chocolat, if it even exist. How important is it I remain lactose free while my small intestent heals...
  22. Its been 2 1/2 weeks since my biopse and was told to schedule a follow up appointment with the digestive specialest. Fist of all, is it important I do this? Is there additional important information that he is going to provide me with to make it worth my co-pay? When I do go, I'm not even sure what to inquire about. If anyone knows of any questions or...
  23. I'm confused. Some items such as orange jucie, bacon, ham/turkey sandwich meat, ketchup, non-darie coffee creamer can have the labeling of gluten free while other brands don't carrie the gluten free label, but yet there is no wheat or gluten in their ingrediants. Are they both safe? Is this just marketing? or Do I really need to spend the extra money...
  24. Thanks everyone for the encourgement, I'm on my way to the stores now. What is the difference between wheat free and gluten free.?
  25. I normally enjoy grocerie shopping, but I'm not looking forward to going tomorrow. I've been gluten free for less than 2 weeks and need to shop, not just for myself (gluten free), but for the family as well. I've been skimming labels looking for those 2 words "gluten free", reading ingredients, and looking up productes on the web, all which is time consuming...
