  1. The only problem I can see is that certain foods trigger him to have bulky, mushy stools, horrible mood (pain?), leg pains, restless sleep, etc. His 'issues' disappear when on a particular 'free' diet. I guess the only thing I would consider would be to let them order the Kimbell Genetic test on him to show that he at least has one of my genes for gluten...
  2. So I took my son (3 yo) into the doctor's office 2 weeks ago today. I explained my concerns and the doctor decided to order this test: Open Original Shared Link Test Includes: IgA and IgG antibodies to deamidated gliadin peptide and tissue transglutaminase (tTG/DGP screen), IgG antibodies to gliadin (AGA), wheat allergen-specific IgE (wheat...
  3. Thank you for the replies. When I got my results from Enterolab, they only had 5 foods (gluten, dairy, egg, soy & yeast) to test for. I am positive for all. Now they can test for 11 more foods so I may have to just go with that first. It is funny that you mention that about the chicken's feed affecting it's egg. I suspect the same is true for chicken...
  4. So I know it is generally recommended to do an elimination diet and food journal to determine other foods that may be causing problems BUT I was wondering if anyone has used EnteroLab for their new antigen food panel OR gotten an IgG blood test? (runon sentence anyone?) I have my hands full with 3 small children with various other issues of their own...
  5. I am starting to suspect an intolerance to nightshades as well. I haven't had any in nearly a week and tonight I boiled some red potatoes and ate it like soup. Within a short time I was bloated up so big I looked 6 months pregnant. Now I have gas, frequent urination and I am wondering if I will be able to rest tonight. :/
  6. I actually just had (a few months ago) my thyroid checked and it was all normal.
  7. Unfortunately I live in the middle of nowhere and there is no local support groups that I know of. I can order labs myself through DirectLabs at a reduced rate but just would like some input on exactly what to order. I guess I could just order the general vitamin panel. I appreciate your response.
  8. Is there any particular vitamins or minerals that it would be wise to test for deficiencies? I have had severe malabsorption for a long time and not sure where to start with making things right. I don't have medical insurance and don't qualify for any sort of medical assistance either. Everything I do will be out of pocket for now.
  9. In my opinion (based on tons of research and personal experience), it is all related. I believe I have Asperger Syndrome (never officially diagnosed) and I have one son who was just diagnosed with Autism (and the other 2 sons are suspect as well). I was always skinny growing up and really I still am. My sister has hypothyroidism and I always suspected...
  10. Interesting thread. I just keep finding more and more links to the crazy chain of celiac/gluten intolerance. I have NEVER been able to grow nails. EVER. I have the ugliest, shortest (but I do bite them some - anxiety) nails of all time. I have the ridges and all. You know how you hear about prenatal vitamins and/or being pregnant causing nails to...
  11. So I am new here but I have been reading off and on here for a very long time. I figured I would throw out my Entero Lab test results to see what you all might think. Does it seem to be Celiac or just Gluten Intolerance? (The Million Dollar Question - you couldn't pay me that much to go back on gluten now for 'official diagnosis'!) A little history......
  12. I can relate to the family thinking it is no big deal. Like a previous poster said, it is SO much easier for some people to be in denial than it is to recognize an issue and take action like you have. Stick to your guns! It is tough going 'against the grain'!
  13. Just wanted to jump in and share in the misery. I have been gluten, dairy, egg, soy, yeast free for almost 8 months ( minus a few mistakes ). One of your first posts reminds me of when I ingest MSG on accident. It causes me all sorts of hell. Anxiety, irritability, rage, migraines, racing heart, etc. Might be something else to be mindful of. I hope you...

  15. Same boat here too! I need to post my numbers for my known food intolerances. I DO suspect tha I have others but havent been able to distinguish between them yet. It will be a long road. Does anyone else recommend igG testing to help identify food intolerances?
  16. Well I am new here but we also homeschool and LOVE IT! I have a ton of reasons why we choose this path but most of them have been expressed by previous posters. . We are dealing with multiple life threatening food allergies, celiac, autism, apraxia of speech, expressive language disorder and sensory processing disorder but we are THRIVING! I can't imagine...
  17. Thanks for posting this. I too am still learning and just now realizing that the cross contamination (no matter how small) can really do a number on me. .
