  1. I am pretty new to this gluten free diet. My GI Dr. just said to avoid gluten. He never told me what not to eat. He did set me up with a nutritionist, which I see this Friday. I can drink milk and eat all dairy products without any problems, so I am hoping I won't have to give them up. I hope the nutritionist works with me to find a diet that will work for me. I am on disability and don't have much money to buy all of those special foods.

  2. My bloodtests showed i was very irondeficient. My GP didn't know why, but did set me up for ferrintin infusions. i went 3 days in a row. It made me feel alot better. Within a couple weeks I saw a GI and had a biopsy, which confirmed the celiac diagnosis. They did more blood tests. I am still a little anemic, but much better. they will recheck in 3 months unless I get feeling weak, dizzy sooner. the dr said it should start increasing. I feel reaLLy good right now and not weak at all. the infusions really help fast.

  3. I sleep good all night long now. I have been gluten free about 3 weeks. When I wake up around 9-930 am I am starving! It takes several small meals up into about 100 to feel like I am not starving. For several months before going gluten free i would lay awake for hours or for the entire night. I had my left knee replacement Aug. 8th. after the surgery i started having absorption issues and losing weight. I slept terrible for over 4 months until i was diagnosed with celiac and have tried very hard to avoid gluten.it does feel good to be able to sleep again.

  4. How do you know if you are a super sensitive celiac or super sensitive to gluten? I can eat almost anything and not feel sick. I went to the GI because of the diarehha, weight lost, iron anemia. HE DID a endoscopy and the biopsy said most likely celiac. i had a celiac panel and other celiac related blood test done after being gluten free for a couple weeks. it came back saying i have celiac sprue. after the biopsy i was thinking it was something else, but since the celiac panel and other test were positive for celiac i am actually a little releived. I KNOW THIS IS LIFE CHANGING. I will try my best to stay gluten free and pray for the best.

I do have like eczema or some type of rash all over my legs and some on my arms. i was wondering if this could be related?

  5. I heard from my GI office this afternoon. I was thinking all of my counts would be low. I have been ill since my knee replacement in August. I found out i had iron deficienct anemia and got 3 ferrin infusions in Dec. I was hospitalized in Nov. my nutrition count was low and i felt so weak. 3 weeks ago i was diagnosed with celiac. I had lots of bloodwork done friday. I juststarted the gluten free diet a week ago. i don't have anemia anymore. my total iron is 46. my hemoglobin is 13.8 my calcium,B12,folate was all normal. Only a couple things were a little low, but dr. said that was to be expected. He feels things are already looking up. i see the GI Dr. in a week. I guess my blood being so thin could make me feel weak.He said it sounds like my absorption issue is looking up.

  6. do any of you know if otc pain medicine is gluten free? I cannot take iboprofen as i am on warafin for a blood clot in my lung. It was found shortly after my knee replacement. I have a absorption problem and would probably do better on a liquid pain medicine. I have to keep getting a higher dose of warafin because I am not absorbing all of it. my levels are not in the thereputic range. this is so aggravating. Thanks for any help.

  7. How do you know if you have problems with lactose? I am new here, just diagnosed with celiac a couple weeks ago.

The practioner at GI office told me i could have milk, yogurt, cottage cheese. I eat these things and they don't seem to bother my stomach. I don't know how much damage I have. I haven't seen the Dr since the EGD. After the EGD he said it looked unremarkable to him. I will see him jAN. 9TH.

  8. I just started the gluten free diet Wed afternoon. I woke up starving Thursday morning. I ate some corn chex for breakfast, then hormel chili for lunch. Then I felt real good. I had some salad for supper. I had a appt early Friday morning at GI for breath test to check for bacteria overgrowth.(turned out negative)I wasn't allowed to eat after 10pm Thursday. I was worried I would be starving Friday morning and be miserable taking the test. I actually wasn't hungry all day long Friday. I finally ate something at dinner time.

  9. I was just diagnosed with celiac. I have been gluten free only 3 days. I have malabsorption issues. I had lots of blood drawn yesterday. I know alot of things are out of wack by the way I feel.MY GP had me get 3 iron infusions in early Dec. My GI Dr. will be handling my celiac treatment. Has any of your dr's ever ordered other types of infusions to help you feel better? I don't absorb pills well. Any suggestions? THANKS

I have just recently been diagnosed with celiac. I have had intestinal issues for years and it wears on me. I went to several GIs and a colon Dr. for several years. I was always labeled with IBS. I had a couple EGDs done, but i GUESS NEVER TESTed for ciliac. In 2008 I had most of my colon removed. I had chronic constipation for many years. My DR DID A marker test, which is where you swollow little markers and after several days you get a xray to see how many were left. Almost all were there. He thought my colon needed removed, specially since all of the years I had seen specialist and nothing really helped. My colon was biopsied but no mention of any particular disease.

I was left with alot of diaharea. I did recently well for long periods, then I would get terrible runs and get wiped out. I would go on home IV fluids and get better. My Dr was a general surgeon who also deals with some intestinal disorders.

I had my left knee replaced in August of 2011. Every since then my health has really gone down. I had a small blood clot in my lung, malabsorption problems, iron deficiency anemia, weight loss, heart racing at times. I am having trouble getting my blood thinned to the right level because I am not absorbing the warafin well. the dose keeps getting upped. Now after reading the long term affects of not being treated for celiac really scares me.

Is there any hope for me ? I started the gluten free diet On Dec 28th of 2011. I had alot of blood drawn yesterday to see where I stand. He ordered CBC, metabolic profile, iron study, and many other things How does a person go through all of this and not think about it 24x7 ? I look at the celiac websites and it just makes me feel so depressed. This is not good on my family or friends.

  11. Hi. I am new here. I just started gluten free diet on Dec.28th. I was diagnosed with celiac disease recently.I have probably had it for many years, but never got the diagnosis until now. Very frustrating! I haven't been told to use gluten free shampoos and soaps. I guess when I see my gi GI Dr. on the 9th i WILL GET ALOT OF INFO. Is there any good gluten free shampoos avaliable in the local stores? MY DH and I are both on disability and just can't afford gluten free specialty shops. Thanks for any info. I am sure I will be on the boards alot trying to figure things out.
