  1. My Endocrinologist does not want me on generic, and recently put me on Synthroid. I was concerned about the CC issues that Synthroid says can be possible, and tried to get Tirosint. Only problem is that it's $75 a month WITH insurance. I started taking Synthroid about 2 weeks ago. Very shortly after I started getting all these strange things happening...
  2. Hey all.. haven't been here in awhile but I thought this was worth letting everyone know. I am on doxycycline because it is believed I got Lyme Disease. I've been on it 7 days, and have been feeling progessivley worse. Joint aches, stomach issues, horrible headaches.. when I looked up this drug today it says that the drug contains Wheat Starch which IS gluten...
  3. Yes. I do need to find out. Oddly enough I was higher before lunch today than I was 2 hours after lunch. I think i'm good. Just need to check over night and see what it is then. Then figure out how to fix it.
  4. @missys mom Oh I know how it is. When I don't eat, I get shaky, weak, feel faint, get very hot and feel pretty awful before I eat again. I had to get up in the middle of the night last night TWICE to eat something because I was feeling So hungry and awful. The second time I could not go back to sleep. I think I will check my glucose again tomorrow morning...
  5. I asked my step dad last night if I could use his monitor.. it was about 1 hour after eating gluten free pasta with butter for dinner. It was 85. He is dibetic and said that seemed low for just eating, but from what i'm hearing from a lot of others is that is within normal range. I went out and bought a monitor this morning and 2 hours after eating breakfast...
  6. I also tested "pre diabetic" on work biometric screening for non fasting blood results.
  7. Hello, I was reading my latest issue of Living Without and read an article that said there is a link between Celiac and Diabetes and that you may be at an elevated risk. Does anyone out there have both? Which were you diagnosed with first? I'm worried I may have it. I have a lot of the symptoms, but I don't want to go to the doctors and look like...
  8. Hello Everyone! I've been gluten free for almost 2 months now. When I got the news my doctor didn't really give me any information, so I did a lot of research on my own. I'm taking a general vitamin, and sublingual b12. Is there anything else that is crucial that I should take? I've been feeling amazing! I've had a few CC indcidents, but other than that...
  9. I miss A LOT of things, but then I think back to how freakin' sick I was and know that it's just not worth it. This is a life long thing. I have to accept i'll never have them again and just stick to the "new" foods I can have. I feel you on the Mac and Cheese. I make the Annies kind and I really like it. I've also found some Gluten Free Chocolate chip muffins...
  10. I found the easiest thing in the beginning was to just stick to things that I knew wouldn't be a problem. Meats, veggies, rice.. If I NEEDED some kind of snack, I made SURE it was labeled Gluten free. It's very overwhelming! Remember, we've all been there! It DOES get easier!
  11. What initally drove me to go to the doctors and push for more testing was a foot that was Extremely painful and I couldn
  12. Does anyone know if the Archer Farms Apple Pear drink mix is Gluten Free? I can
  13. Thanks everyone! I will have to check out the progresso ones!! and Make my own!
  14. I know this probably doesn't sound like much of a relief but I was just diagnosed on 1/24 and my boyfriend and I broke up on 1/29. We'd been together for about 10 months and while we DID have other issues, this was the straw that broke the camels back. He got very mad at me because I did not want to go to his parents for dinner and it just escalated from...
  15. I'm not having very much luck with Gluten free soups. I tried the "Imagine" soup in the resealable bottles. Most of them are terrible. The only one I liked was the butternut squash. Anyone know of some soups that actually have some flavor to them??
  16. This past weekend I went to Red Robin for my first meal out Gluten free. I asked for their gluten free menu and the girl only brought me 1 of the 2 printed pages. I only knew because I had looked up the gluten free menu before I left the house. I ended up getting a burger and instead of bread they wrapped it in lettuce. It sounded good in theory, but with...
  17. LOL Nice! People are SO funny.
  18. I am also training for a marathon.. i'd love to hear your feedback on things that work for you.
  19. I haven't been able to lose months the last 6 months that i've been really sick before being diagnosed. In one week i've lost about 4 pounds. Which is more than i've lost in MONTHS. I hope to lost about 10 lbs total. I need to lose it.
  20. I am on day 7 of Gluten free and I haven't had ONE joint ache, almost zero nausea, or a headache in almost a week. I can hardly believe it. If i feel this decent already, I can't wait to see how I feel in a few months.
  21. I was just diagnosed 5 days ago, so i'm a newbie. I found some items like Amy's.. it says on the box "GLUTEN FREE" but then when you look at the box it says it's made in a facility that processes wheat, soy, ect. Do you stay away from these items anyway? Are they just claiming the FOOD itself is gluten free? Isn't that a little misleading?
  22. I checked out the link about getting your house gluten free. WOW. What an overwhelming piece of information!! It seems like so much. I know it has to be done, but WHEW! I emailed a restuarnt today about how they prepare those gluten free items then I get from family members "well it's not like your going to stop breathing!" I've only been reading about Celiac...
  23. I would defintley read that blog!
  24. Thanks everyone!! I will buy new things for myself! I don't know that i'll be able to get my house 100% gluten free as my boyfriend is obviously fine. And Sylvia, I will check out that thread!
