  1. Ok, so this isn't directly related to gluten, but I wasn't sure where else to ask (turned up empty on google and at my allergists). After going gluten-free, I was still feeling sick so I got tested for other allergies and came up positive for a non-life threatening allergy to sugar cane. Rum is made from sugar cane, so I've been avoiding it, but...
  2. Sweet!!!! Thanks!! Do you know if there is a way to make this work dairy-free or would that be pushing the envelope a little too far?
  3. Has anyone tried the croissant recipe? Would it be worth buying the book for?
  4. Sorry it took me so long to reply back, I've been having technical difficulties. Thanks for all your support! Actually, I was playing phone tag with my pastor for a few weeks, but never actually said anything about gluten yet. Then I came to church and he announced they had gluten-free wafers now. I cried. It was like a mini-miracle. God knew exactly...
  5. Hi I am wondering what you do for protestant communion (I would still like to partake). I am also allergic to eggs, dairy products and sugar. Are some denominations more understanding than others? I come from a Lutheran background, but am unsure how to handle this...
  6. Thank you so much for the replies, I will try those!
  7. I highly recomend Open Original Shared Link hot chocolate. And if you've ever seen the movie Chocolat then you HAVE to try the xchocolatl flavor! The best thing is there is no dairy added!
  8. My cousin got me hooked on pirate pearls (aka white choc M&Ms). They are sooo good!! But now I've found out I can't eat soy
  9. The following products from Open Original Shared Link are soy free: Conacado bar Chocodrops 73% hot chocolates (the xcocolatl is amazing) cacao powder nibs syrup All of their products are gluten-free, but the rest of their chocolate bars and drops have about 0.05% soy lecithin. Hope this helps
  10. Hi after a considerable amount of trial and error I think I've finally found my secondary sensitivity - soy. The only thing is all my favorite gluten-free foods seem to contain soy as well The two snack foods I really can't see myself living without are chocolate bars and doughnuts. I know that Dagoba Conacado bars are gluten-free, soy free but...
  11. Ok, so I've been gluten-free since July 22 last year (my biopsy came back negative but I went gluten-free anyway), but around February I start feeling occasionally glutened for no reason (Wheat is not allowed in my house and I can't afford to eat out or even buy many processed foods). So then I began to think, "The biopsy was negative so maybe it was never...
  12. Do NOT eat at Queen of Shebas! I told the waitress I was severely allegric to wheat and asked what I could eat safely. She told me "Anything but the bread." Needless to say I was quite pleased with the selection and placed my order reiterating several times I could not eat the bread, to which she said, that's alright you can eat the food off the plate with...
  13. I thought of that too, but I just don't think it would be thick enough to hold such heavy ingredients (chicken & potatoes).
  14. Has anyone tried Jarra's Ethiopian restuarant (or any others for that matter?) I head somewhere that traditional Ethiopian food tends to be low on gluten...
  15. Well, the recipe I use is a bit too involved to type out at the moment, so here's a link with some background info and a simpler version (there are many kinds). Haven't tried this one yet but it looks good (and authentic)! Open Original Shared Link
