I'm glad you are now living a healthier life and hopefully feeling much better for it!! After eating gluten Wednesday I spent the night vomiting, shaking and fatigued. I slept all of Thursday and came out in a rash on Saturday. There is no way I putting myself through that for 6 weeks in order to have a doctor tell me what I already know, gluten makes me...

I'm sorry to hear that you've struggled with doctors too! I completely agree with your decision, at the end of the day its your body and you know better than anyone what hurts it! I've decided to stay off gluten, just so a doctor can say "yes you are celiac" doesn't seem worth it, and there is obviously no guarantee they will do the test correctly! So...

Very true, I was just hoping there was some other way to be diagnosed that doesn't include poisoning myself for 6 weeks and dealing with sceptical doctors that treat me like a silly little girl!

I understand how you feel, after suffering painful vomiting last night and now fatigue, cramps and aches after eating just two gluten containing meals, I am re-considering ever listening/visiting a doctor with this again!!

Wow what a strange way to be diagnosed! Glad to hear you've been successfully diagnosed and now know what's best for your health I tried last evening to re-introduce gluten and woke up vomiting for an hour, ate cereal this morning nevertheless and although I don't feel nauseas from cereal, suffering cramps, fatigue and aches Can't believe there...

Thanks for that info! I wasn't aware that just intolerance doesn't show up on a test, but that makes sense. I think I'll try gluten for a the month, keep a food diary and compare my symptoms on gluten to the diary I kept when I was gluten-free! The in-office test is also a great idea, thank you very much!

How likely is getting a negative test result? Do you know why this happens? Thanks

I am in England but we also get money off here, so yes that is an incentive!

After being gluten free for a month and seeing a fantastic difference to my health (almost all symptoms gone!!) A second doctor has recommended I go back on gluten for 4-6 weeks in order to be formally diagnosed. I've suffered my entire life, but symptoms have been much worse the past 3 years, and not one doctor has supported me or made me feel listened...

ARCHIVED How Do I Get Rid Of Bloating!?Kirstie posted a topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease Since going gluten free a month ago (a few slip ups here and there, especially past week) I have finally controlled my constant nausea (now its only occasional) and haven't been vomiting! But my bloating will NOT go away! Some days it's worse than others but it is still always there, I'm so conscious of it, and it's so uncomfortable Has anyone...

I'm sorry your unwell! I haven't been gluten free as long as you have (only for a month) but after I rapidly cut gluten out of my diet a month ago, the week and a half that followed was awful. I could only describe it as gluten withdrawal, as I felt worse than I did when eating gluten! Bloating was horrible Nausea wouldn't go away Extreme fatigue...

ARCHIVED Asking For Help! Brain Fog.Kirstie replied to BrandiS's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease I'm so sorry you feel this way, but things will get better!! Going gluten free is the best option for you, just eat easy simple meals and you will see an improvement and be able to go to college, get a job and get to your life again! You just need to help your body heal. I've found gluten free bread lasts longer than normal bread, so thats a great thing...

I'm sorry you are feeling so bad, I understand as I feel the exact same right now. (Literally just woken up after passing out for 2 hours after accidentally eating gluten!) You need to be patient with your body and not beat yourself up! Its so hard and frustrating because it seems so difficult to pin down what's actually wrong with you and to find out...

I've written on here a few times so some of you may remember my situation so I'll just stick to the short version. I have been suffering from a long list of symptoms for almost over 3 years now, and been to various doctors countless of times and not once have I been tested or diagnosed with anything. (AHH!) So a little less than a month ago I discovered...

Hi Dani, I'm sorry to hear the doctor wasn't very helpful, but I am not surprised. I went gluten free for a few weeks before managing to see a doctor and she wasn't that impressed, even though my worst symptoms cleared up on a gluten free diet! She simply disregarded any possibility of me being coeliac, said it was IBS and wanted me to go back on eating...

ARCHIVED Gluten Withdrawal Symptoms?Kirstie replied to Kirstie's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease I've booked another doctors appointment and keeping a food diary until then, still going gluten free and feeling so much better every day! How did your appointment go with the doctor? Any closer to being officially diagnosed?

ARCHIVED Doctors Still Not Diagnosing Me, Need Advice!Kirstie posted a topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms I've been struggling with so many symptoms the past few years. Constipation, dizziness, extreme fatigue, vomiting, constantly being cold, being very pale, constant bloating, mouth ulcers and sometimes even fainting. I've seen so many doctors (almost 10) but NONE have helped me at all. I began a gluten free diet 2 weeks ago just to see what would happen...

ARCHIVED Gluten Withdrawal Symptoms?Kirstie replied to Kirstie's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease I am starting to feel better after being gluten free for two weeks. Did you diagnose yourself and get better after going gluten free? Or did you see a doctor? I'm not sure what the best thing for me to do is!

ARCHIVED Gluten Withdrawal Symptoms?Kirstie replied to Kirstie's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease Oh wow, it's great that you've been diagnosed. I started the gluten diet myself because it has been the only thing to completely get rid of my symptoms! I saw a doctor today who wants me to eat a gluten filled diet for two weeks and then have blood tests, because she thinks I have IBS not a gluten intolerance. She chose to ignore the vast majority of my symptoms...

ARCHIVED Gluten Withdrawal Symptoms?Kirstie replied to Kirstie's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease Hi, thank you for replying! Sorry to hear that you've been struggling with the new diet, it is a big adjustment and change. Since posting this message I've began feeling much better too, it seems like being gluten free the past 2 weeks is beginning to pay off. How were you diagnosed? I'm seeing a new doctor tomorrow and a little wary of what they might...

Hi everyone, I've just began a gluten free diet, been a bit over a week now. The first thing to go was nausea after every single meal (which is a relief!) no vomiting or even feeling the need to vomit and my constipation has seemed to get much better. But I am feeling very achy, moody, suffering from constant bouts of brain fog and fatigue and still...

ARCHIVED Just Started Gluten Free Diet, Withdrawal Symptoms?Kirstie replied to Kirstie's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease Wow you've really struggled with this! It seems like so many doctors don't understand or have much patience with this. I really appreciate your advise and I'm hoping to see a doctor today, but I'm sticking to a gluten free diet as it makes sense! I'm still feeling unwell but I realise its only been a week or so gluten free and my body needs to heal...

ARCHIVED Just Started Gluten Free Diet, Withdrawal Symptoms?Kirstie replied to Kirstie's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease Wow, thank you so much for all of your advise, this really makes sense. You've said exactly what I've been thinking but been unable to articulate! So far the people I've discussed Celiac with don't think much of it or think I just think I have it, unlike those I've spoken to who are actually sufferers. I will have blood tests done as soon as I...

ARCHIVED Just Started Gluten Free Diet, Withdrawal Symptoms?Kirstie replied to Kirstie's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease But I've only been on a gluten free diet a week (and have accidentally eaten gluten a few times anwyay!) and I'm seeing the doctor on Monday and organising a test soon, surely since I've eaten gluten my entire life a week won't do much harm!

ARCHIVED Just Started Gluten Free Diet, Withdrawal Symptoms?Kirstie replied to Kirstie's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease Okay that's great, thank you for your advise I will write it all down and mention it when I see a doctor. Are you seeing a dietician now you have been diagnosed? How are finding sticking to a gluten free diet?
