  1. I will request a copy of the panel tomorrow. Sorry for the frustration and ranting earlier, it can get so frustrating knowing there is something wrong, but not being able to do anything about it. My son (4 years old) has been wetting his pants all day today and not even realizing it which is very frustrating, too because it is not at all like him. I must...
  2. Ok, so we got our son's Celiac panel back (blood work) and he is negative in all areas. The nurse actually said he was at the low end of all areas. Now I am confused. My doctor told me my son was allergic to wheat last week and drew blood that day (before cutting any wheat out of his diet). Since then I decided to cut wheat out so I did for a few...
  3. Wow, thanks for the info! So we only started the gluten-free (with slip ups) 4 days ago, so I guess we will go back to normal. I am pretty sure that there has to be damage to his intestines somewhere. We have battled constipation and diarrhea since birth (mostly extreme constipation). We took away dairy a few months ago and the constipation got better...
  4. Thank you so much for all of the info! This forum is so helpful and supportive! So I have another question. I have advice from others not to go gluten-free, yet (until all of his celiac testing is done), but that is so hard knowing that I am poisoning my son with wheat! Do you think it is ok to feed him gluten-free all day and just have one thing with...
  5. My son was diagnosed as having an allergy to wheat after a blood test. We are currently awaiting the results from a Celiac screening (also blood drawn). I completely agree about the 'forgetting'. I think that since this is so new, my husband hasn't had a chance to fully digest the ramifications, yet. Also, the Dr. hasn't technically told us to go off...
  6. After finding out that my 4 year-old son is allergic to wheat and his history of GI issues, I begun trying to feeding him gluten-free, however, now he is hungry ALL the time! He is very particular in what he eats, he likes his routine of food: an Eggo waffle for breakfast, a PB&J sandwich for lunch, and then for dinner he is ok with whatever. I found...
  7. This information is straight out of the book "Living Gluten-Free for Dummies" by Danna Korn. In this section, she talks about blood work and biopsy tests and how to read the results: "tTG (anti-tissue transglutaminase)-IgA: This test is very specific to celiac disease, meaning that if you have a positive tTG, it
  8. You're in luck...there is an excellent book entitled Living Gluten-Free for Dummies written by Danna Korn. I just found this one and have been reading it all morning! Very informative and helps me realize that others in our family should also be tested! My mother has ulcerative colitis, my oldest two daughters both have ADHD and ADD. Also my oldest has...
  9. Hi everybody. We are brand new to attempting to eat gluten-free and I have no idea where to start! Let me give you a little background to how we got here. I have a son who is now 4 years old. We have struggled with constipation and other bowel issues since he was born. He has struggled a lot with potty training, but only with bowel movements. I...
