  1. Bartfull, to put your mind at rest, here is our happy boy today! Open Original Shared Link And thank you so much for your kind words and your concern Momof2boys, It is so hard to think of giving 'Mr. Runs' even a 1/2 dose, but yes you are right. We have done Miralax before and gone right back to constipation! The idea of the runs being pushed...
  2. Oh, they have hit runny stage now! We haven't given anymore Miralax since the bowels started moving yesterday. This might be TMI, but at least I know that we have hit the food from 5 days ago. We had corn on the cob and apparently corn kernels don't digest all the way.
  3. And he keeps going, and going, ....geesh, how much did this boy eat?! Does anybody who has done a clean out before know about how long until everything generally passes? He wants food now and I feel bad telling him to wait.
  4. I completely agree. We stopped testing after a negative blood test for celiac, but positive for allergies. I hate the doubt in the back of my mind that we should have done a biopsy or continued with possible Celiac. My son's reactions and symptoms make me question each day if there isn't something more to this than allergies. Even though the response would...
  5. Ladies and gentlemen, we have movement! We also have a hungry boy asking for food! Thank you all for the great support and help!
  6. Do you know about how long into the clean out it takes before a BM? I know he probably won't make it to the bathroom, but would like to encourage him to sit on the pot He keeps assuring us he does not need to go. Also, I know you say not to let him eat, but would applesauce be ok? Applesauce is what we usually 'disguise' his Miralax in since sometimes...
  7. My blisters do not join together either. They just 'erupt' and cause dry, cracked hands and then start to blister again. I also had it through the winter. At one point I had it chronically for about 3 years. Steroid creams were supposed to help, but unfortunately did not for me. Water makes it worse, for example I cannot do dishes without gloves or it will...
  8. Thank you! We will do the miralax today!
  9. Just a thought. I get a rash similar to this. It seems to come after a 'trigger' of some sort and is mostly worse in warmer months (the sun tends to make it worse). If it only occurring on your hands and feet, or just hands, it could be dyshidrotic eczema. The first time I got it, I was about 21 and it took YEARS to clear up. Here are some links to pics: ...
  10. Hello and welcome! One thing that helped my son with bloating was taking probiotics. I don't know if you take any now, but Culturelle is what we give my son and it has helped him a lot. Also, there are gluten free/dairy free ice creams out there. My son loves ice cream and we get him ice cream made with almond milk. There are also ice creams made with...
  11. We recently ad to go wheat, egg, milk, soy, peanut, and fish free for my 4 year old son because of his positive test for allergies. He has always had constipation and he also never complained of stomachaches. Honestly, cutting these foods out of his diet was harder on me than on him. I think I grieved for him. I told him it would help so his poops wouldn...
  12. I think the bowels are starting to move. He has been having accidents in his unders today (big set back, he was just starting to go on his own) Here is the interesting thing, his poo today has that very distinct constipated smell, but the poo that comes out is a normal brown color and the consistancy of tar (except the first poo of the day, that was...
  13. We went to the Costco food court and I asked the gal if their Very Berry Smoothies were gluten free. She told me she didn't think so because they have sugar.
  14. They do have gluten free menus, but some of the wait staff are unaware. We went to Outback (brought our own hamburger bun). After we ordered for My son, I realized we forgot to ask for his broccoli without the seasoning. When I let the waiter know this, he assured us that he wrote "Gluten-Free" in bold and on my son's ticket so they would not put it on. Thank...
  15. Yea! I just talked to a coworker and he informed me that with our insurance we do not need a referral for an allergist, so I will be making an appointment on Monday. This is an allergist that my coworker has and loves and who also sees children. That makes me wonder if I even need a referral for a GI then. Looks like I will be calling around on Monday...
  16. I was wondering if it might be behavioral and that is why we have been making him sit at the table and eat at least 3 bites or he goes to time out. It takes forever to get him to do it, and last night is when he told me that it makes him sick. As a side note, the constipation is back (black, constipated smelling skid marks in his underwear) and he says...
  17. Nope, just said he 'had a virus'. The allergy tests did come back with low IgE allergies to wheat, egg, milk, peanuts, soy, and fish. When we went gluten free and he had a slip up of eating wheat, he immediately got a rash across his chin, then when he ate peanut butter, he got a rash across his leg and his whole body itched. He has done well gluten...
  18. To make matters worse, my son's Dr. isn't even a ped. He is a family practitioner. My son has had chronic constipation since birth and started vomiting daily for an entire month and my doctor said he was fine 'it must be a virus'. That is when I actually blew up on the doctor and got my testing ordered. My daughters have a different Dr. (because they...
  19. Kathryn, have you had allergy testing done? One of the triggers for dyshidrotic eczema can be an allergic reaction to food. Also, even if you test negative for celiac you could be allergic to wheat (my son is) and the management would be the same--gluten free. You could also have intolerances. Basically, if testing food allergies, an IgE reaction would be...
  20. Honestly I have asked NUMEROUS times for a referral to a GI, but my son's doctor won't give us one. I kinda blew up on the doctor the last time which got him to at least do allergy testing and the celiac panel (he wasn't even going to do those). We are currently doing a gluten free challenge and my son's next appointment is on the 11th. If the doctor doesn...
  21. That is a great idea. He does love to help me cook, but I am worried that it is something more. He told me he wanted pancakes for dinner (gluten free) and I made them for him (he usually loves them) he did take two bites and when I told him he had to eat more he told me food makes him sick. He hasn't been acting sick though, still runs around, plays at the...
  22. So a few days ago my son seems to have lost his appetite. He has been gluten free for almost 4 weeks now, but I am having to basically force him to eat. Before going gluten free he ate like a bird, but at least he always ate a waffle for breakfast and a pb&j for lunch, then he would pick at his dinner. Now he's not eating much of anything. I am at...
  23. Interestingly, I joined this forum because of my son's GI issues. He was tested for celiac through blood tests, but they were negative. However, he is allergic to wheat and other foods. I have changed our kitchen to a 'mostly gluten-free' place. Therefore most snack foods, convenience foods, etc. are gluten free. Also, dinners have been gluten free. So, in...
  24. The rash on the hands could also be dyshidrotic eczema. Here is a link to some pictures. An interesting note is that the sun seems to make it worse. Open Original Shared Link Open Original Shared Link
  25. Gotcha, but honestly it can really help. Let's say the kiddo reacts to a certain food that contains multiple ingredients, and let's say the reaction isn't immediate, but maybe an hour or so later in which time he also ate some thing else. Someone might be trying to eliminate the wrong ingredients. Or if multiple allergies are present, it would be hard to...
