  1. My daughter goes on sleepovers. She takes food with her and shares it with her friend No problems so far.
  2. He isn't in charge. I only meant that if he is positive he will not comply away from home. He will be given a blood test-have doctor appt. I also wonder though about false negatives again. Anyway he is resistant to the possibility and the changes that would entail.
  3. I could have sworn I read two replies and now I only see one My tablet is being wonky...... Thanks for the info. Yes I'm fine without an official diagnosis at this point My son has made quite an issue out of this. I cook gluten free and he complains constantly. It's also difficult because my mother lives in the lower part of my house and buys...
  4. My eleven year old daughter was diagnosed by blood test and then biopsy several months ago. Her doctor had me go for the blood test. It came back negative. I've gone gluten free in order to support her anyway, but after a lifetime of "issues", I'm not 100%, but feel much better for the most part. So I'm reading that a false negative is not uncommon...
  5. That's fabulous!! We have an older dog with a lot of allergies. His food contains only salmon and sweet potato. It cheers my daughter up - she tells everybody that she and the dog are both celiacs!
  6. My 11 year old daughter was recently diagnosed too. It's getting easier. Such a huge adjustment. I'm finding that for the most part it's easier to just cook - meat, rice/potatoes, veggies. My girl loves to bake - we bought a flour mix, and so far it's worked in every "flour" recipe she's tried. We haven't ventured to a restaurant yet - still researching...
  7. Hi there. Already intro'd myself in the parents of kids section, but see that this is the place. My 11 year old daughter recently diagnosed. Very ill, hospital etc. Initially thought anorexia, blood and biopsy showed celiac. Baby steps. difficult adjustment for her for sure, but we're making small gains. Gwen
  8. I've been gluten free about 3 weeks in support of my daughter. I tested neg for celiac but have always had significant digestion "issues". I feel so much better - it's really amazing. Like night and day.
  9. My 11 year old daughter was diagnosed a few weeks ago. It's a grieving of sorts. Fast food. Birthday parties. All of that. I keep telling her to think of perspective - there are far worse things to have. She is an avid baker and is just starting to show an interest in gluten free baking. I've gone gluten free with her - I'm finding I actually feel...
  10. Thanks. Yes, we're in Canada, she has been getting counselling. They figure the discomfort may have triggered her to stop eating. She is OCD , so I think it was a combination of things, and yes, the end result is that we found out - better sooner than later.
  11. Hello from Nanaimo. My 11 year old daughter newly diagnosed.
  12. Hello. Some months ago my eleven year old daughter stopped eating. Eventually she was hospitalized - down to 42 lbs - initial diagnosis was anorexia. Two and a half weeks in hospital. Bloodwork was positive for celiac disease. Biopsy confirmed. She was put on anti anxiety meds. While in hospital she would only drink ensures - refused food. After about...
