  1. Just need feedback to see if I'm getting paranoid or if this realy is a reson to have her tested for celiac (again). When she was a year old, my little girl was very ill. She refused to eat, had wathery dihorrea with bits of undigested food in it, was not able to sleep, whiny and moody all the time, lost weight, stopped her motoric development, stopped...
  2. Maybe its best to contact the Mayo clinic and ask them about your result?
  3. acording to Open Original Shared Link site you have 'Open Original Shared Link celiac disease' with only ttg iga positive. With a positive testresult on eather one of the test you should have a biopsi done to be sure.
  4. I called the hospital today, to ask how much gluten i need to ingest. They had no idea, and asked me to call my doctor. He is on a summer hollyday for 2 more weeks, but I talked to another doctor there. She said to keep eating the way I had before the first blood test, even thoug I told her I diden't use to eat alot of gluten. She said that if my intestine...
  5. Some people with celiac are very sensitive, and some are not, and will not have any symptomes if they have gluten. With gluten sensitivity it's the same thing, some can have a little gluten, some are super sensitive. So your GI is right, only way to know for sure is to do a challange. It is importante to know, like you say, if you need to be very strict or...
  6. I don't know how I can do this. Even if I'm willing to go throug it at get really ill, I just keep throwing up. I'm only a few days in, and I'm at the point where I throw up if I have a glas of wather. Can any meds help for that? To keep it down, to make me even more ill? It feels quite surreal even asking this, it's a little insane we all have to go throug...
  7. Thank you! It seems I can only keep small amounts of glutenous food down, so I'll try that for the weekend, and then call te hospital on monday to ask if they think that is enough. I have had a full celiac antibody test done. It was positive only for DGP- IgG, and not a very strong positive, but as I have not had much gluten the last few years, and my...
  8. The main resaon for me to go for a confirmed diagnosis is that in Norway you get monthly finacial suport, to compancate for the extra cost of glutenfree food, the equivalent of about 350 dollars a month. But only if you have a positive biopsi. Also, my 3 year old girl has had issues with gluten, and if I have a propper diagnosis, it will be easyer to find...
  9. I got a letter this week saying I'm scheduled for biopsi at the hospital, some day early in septemer. It also says I need to eat 'normally' (what does that mean? ) for the last TWO MONTHS prior to the apointment! Is that really nessesery? I haven't been totally glutenfree otther then short periods, but i haven't had much gluten for years. But I'we been...
  10. Well, he obviously can't do a gluten challange, so there is no way of getting a reliable blood test for celiac done. Non-celiac gluten intolerance is hard to diagnose, and also involves gluten challange. As far as I know the only thing you can do at this point is to have gastroscopy. Even now that might still come back positive if he has celiac, but if...
  11. Diarrhea has not been one of my gluten consernes, but now I have been glutenfree for almost a week, and waking up this morning my stomach felt wierd an bubbly (not bloted). In the afternoon i got a little stomach ache, and now two trips to the toilet last 20 min. Could that be withdrawal symptomes, or just unrelated? Any thoughts?
  12. It is very important to eat gluten prior to celiac testing. If you don't, you can get a false negative result. For how ling before your test did you avoid gluten? As for being genetlicly disposed, I don't think there is a general consensus on diet. Som docs say you should be glutenfree to avoid developing it, some say stick with your normal diet, some...
  13. I don't know about the diagnosing. But I do know tender feet. I'we had bad footpains and backaces for years. My chiropractor said I had some nerves that got inflamed in my back and that also affected my feet. But after the treatment and exersices my back is almost fine, my feet still hurt. I had a fluten challange a few weeks ago, and my feet got alot worse...
  14. I've been waiting to hear from the hospital for a few weeks now, still don't know when my biopsy will be. I had a blood test done I may, and becaus I ate very little gluten prior to that my doctor wanted me to do a gluten chalange. Needless to say, that sucked. After that I had my second blood test, that was even more positive than the first. A week after...
  15. To recover compleatly after going gluten free when you have celiac can take as much as 1-2 years. So if you feel 80% better after a month of being gluten free I would say you are on to something. Often people with celiac will lack vit. b12, magnesium and iron, also a good dose of multivits, omega 3 and probiotics will help you recover and heal. I order...
  16. Yes, I have experimented with different timeing. The problem is that the symptoms start after about 2 hours, and last for about 48 hours. First the bloating and tierdness, then throwing up, feeling cold and dizzy, not being able to sleep, feeling druged when I try to get up in the morning- So I basicly can't have gluten if I'm going to work that- or the next...
  17. If youre not willing to have any tests done, then you could only hope a dietchange will do the trick. How long have you been gluten free for? You could start by eliminating a nuber of things, like gluten, wheat starch, eggs, soy, dairy (most celiac patients are lactose intolerant untill their gutt has heald compleatly), nuts, fish, yeast. If this doesent...
  18. I have to have the biopsy caus in norway, that is the only test that is considerd 'valid'. Also, only my DGP-IgG was positive, not the rest, so i 'have' to take the biopsy på be like 110% sure, not just 90-95%... The reason why I chose to do it is mostly becaus of my little girl, and also the financial support. It is quite obvious that my body can not handle ...
  19. So. After positive bloodtest I have to 'keep' eating gluten until i get a biopsy. Before the test I never ate much gluten at all, becaus, duh, it made me feel bad. Now I'm suposed to have gluten every day. Thats not agreeing with me very well, I'm so bloated people keep asking me if I'm pregnant (gets even less funny be the fact that I had a misscarige this...
  20. This is very interesting to me. I only have DGP-IgG positive, and about 300 symptomes of celiac. Waiting for gastro now, don't know how long it will take. I have been told that the DGP-IgG test is designed to discover partial atrofi-patients, and the IgA is suposed only to be positive when someone has total atrofi. Also, I have been told that DGP IgG is...
  21. That test only looks for high levels of IgA. So if its positive it is likely he has celiac, but if it is negative, that doesen't realy mean anything. I took it twice, not knowing this. Both times negative. Now, many years later, i went to the doc, it turns out i have elevated dgp-IgG, and likely celiac...
  22. I've been eating alot of gluten for a few weeks and will be having a bloodtest done tomorrow. After the bloodtest, how much gluten will i need to keep eating till I get an endoscopy? Will a slice of bread a day be enough for my intestine to stay damaged, or do i need more? Would really really like to be able to cut back on the gluten caus it makes me so ill...
  23. Hi! I just talked to my GP today, after getting the results from some bloodwork I had done two weeks ago. I was going to get tested for pollen- and food allergies, but when I asked about cross-reactoins with pollen and wheat, becaus wheat (gluten, really) often makes me ill, he wanted to test for celiac too. It's not like I have never thought I might...
  24. Yes, a little, but she has only had them for a few days. I'll be taking her to the doctor on monday to see if there is anything to be done about them, regarless of why she got them
