  1. Make sure your spices don't have gluten in them-we had a whole bunch we can't use! The spice packet for Taco Bell has wheat in it and the spices they use in their restaurant do also because Robbie can't eat a taco or the cheese sauce.
  2. Robbie has be almost gluten free for a week 1/2 now-we had a couple of oops in there-some cheese sauce and nachos-he still has irregular bms-some have been pretty good and then he'll have a real yucky one-so in my mind it is starting to work and I am leaning towards no biopsy-I will talk to the doctor again on Monday and ask him my list of questions before...
  3. We had the visit with the Gastro doc today and they want to do a biopsy next Thursday! Robbie had fallen asleep in the car for 1/2 hour on the way and I had to wake him up when we got there-he was a complete pain in the butt-that is the last time I take him to an appointment with out his Father there! Consequently, I did not get to have a good talk with the...
  4. He is almost 3 years old and did have previous blood work on the 22nd. He was diagnosed with a level of 128.5.
  5. My son Robbie has an appointment tomorrow with the Gastro doc-What will they do this 1st visit-should I expect a blood test? He has very tiny veins and the last blood draw about killed us all!
  6. Hi! Check out Oscar Mayer hotdogs-the ones we bbuy are gluten-free. Sara
  7. Hi There! Sorry to hear about you daughter-is she just wheat sensitive or actually celiac? I would actually try to leave her bread in tact and reduce her intake to one slice a day if she is just sensitive-does she eat Cheerios or and other whole grain cereal? My son reacted the worst to his breakfast cereal-he is a cheerios freak! When he cut those out...
  8. Welcome to the site! I'm new also-my son Robbie (3) was diagnosed 2 weeks ago and we have been experimenting with gluten-free products. So far we have found some cookies he likes. and some crackers. We had pizza with rice/tapioca flour and it was very good. I am going to start making some bread and other baked goods to find a cheaper way of giving him some...
  9. Hi celiac3270! You are wonderful for offering this list! I am new-found out my 3 yr old son was celiac this past Thursday-I would love a list also-bkucik@yahoo.com-Thank you! Sara
  10. Thanks-I will have to look up a few things with caramel color and flavor-we have great value brand maple syrup-I was able to get to the list of good and bad foods-thank you. I printed them out and I am going to give them to Robbie's grandparents and teachers so they are more aware. Sara
  11. Thanks for all of your great advice and suggestions! I feel very important just since I posted 2 days ago-everyone seems to really care about everyone else on this board-its nice to know we're not alone. I had never heard of Celiac until my son was diagnosed so I am going to get tested as well. I think I might have some of the same issues as him just not...
  12. What is Semolina? Is it wheat based ? Also, are Caramel Coloring and flavoring okay-I think I read it is corn based. I want to check due to the syrup we have. Thanks! Sara
  13. Hi! I just started this diet for life for my 3 yr old as well. Some cookbooks I picked up today are : "Wheat free-Gluten free Cookbook for Kids and Busy Adults' by Connie Sarros "Wheat free recipes and Menus" by Carol Fenster, pH.D. I like this one because it helped discover that vinegar (not malt vinegar) is okay-its in ketchup, mustard, and mayo...
  14. Thank you!!! We thought so-and my Husband and I were so stressed out by the time we discovered this ingredient that we were ready to run out of the store screaming! Maybe she doesn't eat these items personally or something-at least she was able to give me a few brands to look for and what store to shop at-we have one here in West Virgina- Do you benefit with...
  15. Thanks for the great advice! I went shopping today and was even more confused by labels-I found a cookbook that talked about vinegar being "ok" so I was a little relieved about ketchup, mustard and mayo! My son's doctor has celiac and she said rice chex and rice crispies were okay but there was malt flavoring listed as an ingredient when we looked today...
  16. My son Robbie was justed diagnosed with celiac and I need to know some good snack foods and bread to try for the first time. He is in preschool and I will need to provide his snacks. Also, i Have a question about Ketchup, mustard and some dressings with vinegar-my Husband wants to know if he needs to even avoid these tiny amounts of wheat derived ingredients...
