  1. I was thrilled to turn on this new show and discover they were talking about celiac! I taped the second showing so I could have documentation of this when we have to switch doctors or a second child has atypical symptoms. Anyone know when the House celiac episode is to be aired? I hope I didn't miss it!
  2. Sorry about your teeth! That is worse than giving birth-I hate the dentist but go religously every six months. right now at age 34 I have one root canal with a crown and 4 other teeth with crowns because of cracked fillings that were too large to repair-I also have TMJ from grinding. I have always had very bad teeth no matter how much I brush and floss-something...
  3. Cool! I am so glad they listen and care about us! We love her pizza too! I ate the brown rice & veggies one last night and feel fine-it probably was just that batch-let us know what they find out from the testing. It is nice to know what causes these reactions.
  4. That is so odd! I love her meals-my favorite is the brown rice bowl with veggies-I did fine with it. Do the mac -n- cheese and terriayaki say gluten free in the corner? I don't buy the one's that don't say that. I am going to look again to see if the label mentions a wheat warning-I didn't think I would need to look!
  5. My Son just turned 3 at the end of August. I did not even try to potty train until now when I knew his poop was solid 95% of the time-and it back fired! He did pretty well in the underwesr until the explosion came from nowhere! I found out the next day he had been accidentally glutened at school the day prior to our potty training attempt. He was so scared...
  6. Sorry-I forgot to mention that my Grandmother also died from cancer of the stomach lining! This is why it has been soooo important that I do this thing for me and my Son the right way! Even though my blood work was negative the gluten-free diet is working well for me so I will stick with it!
  7. I had my appendix out at age 13 and my tonsils were just removed in April at age 33. I diagnosed myself 2 months ago with celiac disease and went gluten free-I feel much better! We think my Grandma was celiac-she also had her tonsils and appendix removed. My Brother may have a gluten issue also-he had a ruptured appendix at age 9-still has tonsils...
  8. I would write the companies-the broth used to flavor the meat might have gluten in it.
  9. That sucks! I would just make other people eat what we eat-the pastas we've tried are very good-I have a tendency to lick my figers when cooking also! eyes: I was stupid the other night at a birthday party-It was at my neighbors and my son and husband went back home I stayed and ate a piece of cake thinking it was worth it to deal with being sick for 2 days...
  10. I used pepcid complete the other night & it was okay I think-can anyone else confirm this? Thanks!
  11. He ran the igg and iga again and it was the igg that was positive. I have a 3 year appointment for Robbie on Thursday and I will run this by her again and look at the numbers and what tests were actually done initially. I thought the igg was just for intolerance rather than actual celiac. I will ask about the cheek swab test for the gene.
  12. Thank you all so much! I don't think any of us could get through this without such great support! I am crying right now because I am finally relieved that we have "figured this out". I have been so worried and preoccupied. My marriage has been somewhat strained as I am always researching on the computer and I just haven't cared about me lately-I'm up late...
  13. Thanks for the input. So do you think we need to do the gene testing? He has responded well on the gluten-free diet so I am going to continue with it-I am just trying to see if we can relieve some of the anxiety with cross contamination issues-I would love to be able to just order a hotdog without the bun or fries that are maybe cooked in the same oil as...
  14. We received the results a couple of days ago-the biopsies of the small intestine showed negative! They took four samples none of which had damage. The doctor seems pretty sure this means he doesn't have celiac-he did say that he definitely has a wheat & gluten allergy due to the blood test being positive and to keep him on the diet-at least if we have...
  15. I am so sorry you have so many dietary restricyions-I have enough trouble with just the gluten! I think to gat an accurate blood test you will need to keep him on the wheat until after the test-mine came back negative and I am pretty sure it was because I was wheat/gluten free for 2 weeks before-I am feeling much better so I know I have some sort of issue...
  16. Hi Everyone! Just wanted you to know that my Son had his biopsy and did well. The doctor found some damage in his esophogus so he took biopsies of that, his stomach and small intestine. He may have acid reflux rather than asthma or in addition to it-he only has the coughing when he lies down. Except for throwing up twice afterwards he recovered well-the most...
  17. Well, after careful consideration and many questions to Robbie's doctors we finally decided to have the biopsy. For insurance purposes and school issues we thought we should make it conclusive. We went today and Robbie was a real trooper-after the procedure he was very agitated and disoriented-also had some pain because they took more than just a biopsy of...
  18. Definitely stick with softserve, but make sure it is okay-I suspect that I might have the same problem as my Son-I get sick when I eat Sonic but I am fine with Dairy Queen.
  19. My son has to go to the sitter and summer preschool so I found a small softside lunchbox cooler in primary colors at Walmart. I think the brand is SchoolMates or something like that.It fits anything from a small rubbermaid container to a pudding snack. One day I put 2 cheese sticks, a bag of lays stax, trail mix, applesauce, mandarin oranges, cookies and...
  20. This topic is interesting to me because I've been trying to figure out who was a celiac in my family. All fingers point to my Grandmother, rest her soul, who always had trouble with pastas and crackers, etc.. and died of cancer of the stomach lining. She was never diagnosed with Celiac but we think that was the issue. This is why it was very important that...
  21. Hi! I do not think you are paranoid about your son being a possible celiac. I would do everything in my power to find out if something is wrong with my child! Has he consistently had tummy issues? Maybe he wasn't faking it before? If he has consistent issues for the next week or so I would definitely look into it. He is well otherwise, right? My son just...
  22. Hi celiac3270! This is the only place I know where total strangers are willing to help. My son gets his biopsy on thursday. I have started the diet however, and he seems to be responding well-I sure could use the list as well-it will make shopping easier especially with a toddler-its all about the finger food! Thanks! bkucik@yahoo.com
  23. I'm glad the labels are popping up! I need more info on the meat! We just bought more lean ground beef, chicken, pork chops and round steak which we all ate for dinner tonight! Do I need to stay away from the walmart meats? Should I get Tyson chicken? What stores are safe? I live near Kroger food stores. I also have access to the Schwann's delivery service...
  24. For Robbie's B-day cake I am using Kinnikinnic white cake mix and making my own frosting with Margarine, milk and powdered sugar-I did a test run and he liked it-so did my Husband and myself-My Husband hasn't cared for a whole lot of things yet so it was encouraging to know he liked the cake! Now it will feel good to serve it to his friends and their parents...
  25. I found out absolutely nothing either-I assume they use the same oil for their fries and nuggets, battered fish, etc...Robbie could maybe eat the veggies!
