  1. How long would I have to be gluten free before I could "challenge" it? I know you are supposed to do a minimum of 3 months but if I did gluten free for one month and then ate gluten would that be enough time out of my system to make me feel like garbage if I am gluten intolerant? I am very stubborn and like proof for things so I think it would be beneficial...
  2. I had a blood test for celiac and it was negative and yesterday I had a biopsy and won't have the results until December 17. At first I had decided I would try gluten-free for 3 months anyways to see if I have a gluten intolerance and to see if it improves my symptoms but now I am struggling with the idea. If I knew I had celiac then it would be easy to...
  3. My husband picked up a copy of the results and it is definitely negative. A positive is greater than 20 and mine was 6. I am actually disappointed. I have all of the symptoms of celiac so I am really shocked. I have a biopsy scheduled but they want to do a colonoscopy at the same time and I am too stressed over that so I am considering cancelling the...
  4. My dr order a tTG test on September 28. As of Thursday October 11 it wasn't back yet. I called today to ask if the results were back yet and his receptionist was so rude to me and told me that the results are back and everything is fine and the dr would have called me if there was a problem. But I want to know what the actual number was. I paid $65 for...
  5. I have Ehlers-Danlos syndrome and one of the symptoms is a difficulty with anesthetic. It basically takes WAY more to even have an effect on me. So I am doubtful that it would even work. I still haven't decided what to do.
  6. I am scheduled for a colonoscopy and a gastroscopy with duodenal biopsy on November 20. I am completely terrified! They do it under conscious sedation and stupid me, I decided to google it. Bad, bad idea! There are tons of horror stories of people who woke up during the tests and were screaming for the doctors to stop but they wouldn't. I am trying to...
  7. Is it necessary to have different cooking equipment if you are just gluten intolerant and not celiac? My test results aren't back yet but if it turns out it is not celiac I am wondering how strict I need to be with the gluten-free.
  8. 2 weeks and my celiac test is STILL not back. I was at my dr today discussing my blood test results (I am SEVERELY iron deficient anemic) and he said that the celiac test is still not back. I asked him if I'll be informed when it does come back and he said if there is anything off he'll call me but not to be worried because celiac is really "no big deal...
  9. Sadly, I think I am going to have to cancel the procedures. I do want to have the biopsy (if I could have even gotten him to order it) but I am an abuse survivor and I have been up panicking all night. Unless they can put me under complete general anesthesia I can't do it. I know they do "conscious sedation" but I have had it before for a different procedure...
  10. How can I make the dr order the biopsy? I am in Ontario so it is paid for by OHIP and I am worried the dr will say that they don't need to do a biopsy. I am not going under a procedure with risks if they aren't going to do the biopsy so I am trying to figure out how to get my dr to order it.
  11. I have been told I am going for a gastroscopy and a colonscopy this coming Monday. My celiac blood test isn't even back yet but they are doing these tests to test for "unexplained anemia." My dr is not taking me seriously about the celiac testing as far as I can tell. Anyways I am wondering do they always do a biopsy during a gastroscopy or do I need to...
  12. I am in Ontario, Canada and I had the tTG test ordered for me and did the bloodwork Friday morning, September 28. All of the other bloodwork came back on Tuesday (CBC, vitamins, etc) but when I called to the dr today they said that they still had not received the results of the celiac test. So how long does it normally take? I would just like to know one...
  13. I'm sorry, but this information is not correct. There are definitive tests to diagnose interstitial cystitis. Open Original Shared Link I had a cystoscopy and a biopsy among other tests. These tests will show damage to the bladder wall if there is interstitial cystitis. If you did not have these tests then there is no way you could be officially diagnosed...

    ARCHIVED Dr Has Results

Okay, my husband went and got a copy of the blood work but the celiac test result isn't on there??? Does this mean it wasn't back yet or something? He just did the tTG test. I paid $65 dollars so they darn well better have done it. Okay so for the blood test results that came back here is what is circled as being off: (I'm in Canada so some of the numbers...

    ARCHIVED Dr Has Results

I am so irritated right now. I had blood work done Friday morning. I am having lots of symptoms of celiac but also could be other things so they ran a bunch of blood work. I get a phone call this morning the dr got my blood test results and would like to see me. So I'm thinking they've found something, not necessarily celiac but something. Normally when...
  16. Quick question - when you are having major issues with celiac do you have gastrointestinal issues even after eating a gluten free meal? I just had supper of peas, corn, and roasted potatoes and 15 minutes later I'm in the bathroom with explosive diarrhea (sorry to be so graphic). Is it normal to basically react to everything when you are in the midst of...
  17. Have any of you with bladder issues been tested for interstitial cystitis? I was diagnosed with it after multiple tests when I was 17 years old (apparently this is quite young for an IC diagnosis). My symptoms were urgency, pain, inability to fully empty bladder, among others. I have been on medication since then and it controls these symptoms except for...
  18. Thanks for responding. I have decided to avoid gluten for the rest of today at least in the hopes I might get some sleep tonight. Tomorrow is back to all my responsibilities - no more laying in bed all day! I still feel terrible. I hope the test results come back soon and that if I do have celiac I am one of the people who the tTG is accurate.
  19. Well I am definitely starting to be convinced it is celiacs. I am still eating gluten food so the tests remain accurate. More so than I normally do actually bc I am too tired to cook anything and my hubby has been busy running the kids around to all their lessons. He was making the kids grilled cheese sandwiches for lunch so I asked him to just make me...
  20. Well I do have that issue but that was not the reason for the tummy tuck. I have had 3 children all by c-section and then lost 45 lbs (on purpose!) so I had a large overhang of skin at the bottom and I had also had a huge diastasis (stomach muscle separation) that can only be closed through surgery that caused a huge bulge over my belly button. I look way...
  21. I wanted to add (in case body trauma affects things) that I had surgery at the end of June (tummy tuck) and have felt increasingly sick since then culminating in my recent severe symptoms. Is there any chance the surgery kicked things into high gear?
  22. I have had symptoms of celiacs for years. I was told I have IBS 8 years ago after having my gallbladder out at the age of 25. Lot of other symptoms too including a random weird rash on my knees and arms that is insanely itchy. Honestly too tired right now to type the other symptoms out. Anyways while I never feel good I am usually able to function. All...
  23. I am in Ontario. No celiac testing is covered. I had to pay $65 just for the tTG test. He didn't offer any other tests, just said that is the only one needed. He is a bit of an ass at the best of times. Hopefully if I do have celiac it will show up positive.
  24. He won't order any other tests. I had to convince him to order the one test. He was completely dismissive of me and told it was migraines (which I've never had) causing my symptoms and prescribed a migraine med (which didn't help at all). I feel so defeated right now. I am just so sick.
  25. My dr has ordered the tTG test but that is the only celiac test he ordered. He also ordered fasting blood glucose, ferritin, CBC, Vitamin B12, TSH, creatinine, sodium, and potassium. Most people seem to get a full panel of celiac blood tests. Will only one celiac test show an accurate result?
