  1. I find most of my groceries at my local Kroger in the health-food/organic section of the store. I don't know what stores you have out west, but other stores that carry gluten-free products here are Lowe's Foods, Harris Teeter, EarthFare, Whole Foods Markets, and little mom and pop organic/health food stores. I found some of my favorite gluten-free products...
  2. I've only been gluten-free for 7 months, and I'm still struggling with finding gluten-free products, but here is what I've discovered thus far: Top 5 Nastiest Products (in my humble opinion) 1) Ener-G tapioca bread---YUCK (tasted sour and nasty) 2) Mrs. Leepers Lasagna mix (made me SICK AS A DOG) 3) Whole Kids Organic Yellow Mustard -- tasted straight...
  3. Thank you so much for your kind response! I'm still having trouble with eating out. With our crazy schedules, my hubby and I were surviving off of being able to eat "on-the-run" and avoided cooking at all costs. We've learned that you just can't do that when you're a celiac (or live with one). It's hard to adjust, especially since I've never really been...
  4. I do not know the entire situation in regards to your child, but my best friend teaches pre-schoolers with autism. Several of her students also suffer from celiac (the two are apparently linked). Their reaction to gluten is behavioral and not GI. She says that when they ingest gluten, their behavior is completely different. Has your doctor suggested having...
  5. I have been overweight all of my life and have found nothing to combat my weight issues. My thyroid was fine, I didn't have diabetes, and was eating normally. February 2005 I was diagnosed with celiac and have lost 25 pounds since going gluten-free. I had lost 37 pounds prior to that on Weight Watchers on the Core Program which elimates a lot of wheat...
  6. Thank you SO much!! You don't know how much I appreciate all of your advice and kind response! I have felt completely lost and so alone with this for the past 7 months so it is good to hear from someone who understands and can offer advice. I will definately try to be more firm with my doctor when I go back in October and I know if I don't that my husband...
  7. Thank you for this! I just had them for lunch and when I saw the topic of the post, i thought "Oh no!!" So, your information was very appreciated!! God bless!!
  8. That sounds exactly like me before I went gluten-free! I would have to go RIGHT THEN and if I didn't I felt so sick and my lower abdomen HURT! I would have to get to a bathroom and be completely alone. My poor hubby learned to just let me be if this happened. I also would get very short with others if I was en route to a bathroom during one of these ...
  9. I am 25 years old was diagnosed with celiac Feb of 2005 after being mis-diagnosed with IBS for 10 YEARS!! In the past 7 months, I have been through "the sample", blood test, colonoscopy, barium swallow x-ray, ultrasound of the gallbladder, and a biliary scan of the gallbladder. After all that testing, turns out that the blood test revealed that I have celiac...
