  1. As stated in the title, my endoscopy is coming up on Wednesday and though it may sound strange, I am more worried about the fasting aspect of it than the endoscopy itself. I have Type 1 Diabetes and am on the pump and often get hypoglycemic when I wake up...and that's with being able to eat a 10pm snack. I don't know what I am going to do now with not being...
  2. Pre-diagnosis and have this as well...it's gotten worse over the last couple of years...around the time I suspect I began to develop my little trifecta of autoimmune diseases...Diabetes, vitiligo and now, possibly celiac.
  3. Pre-diagnosis and was googling fevers and eating too much gluten and this thread came up. I feel as though I have found kindred sufferers! My normal body temp is low (97.6), which I always chalked up to being diabetic...but I just got glutened last night (my fault...ate junk all day and all of had gluten in it not to mention the fact that I was baking and...
  4. Yes, I have not gone completely gluten free yet....so I guess that makes sense.
  5. Good advice! My health food store carries the Carb Zero and I was going to buy it when I was there the other day, but bought Schar's instead. After reading this, glad I made that choice!!
  6. Hi - Not sure how much scarring there is...my guess is that it's probably healed a lot from when I was a child. My nephrologist told me when I was a kid that my one kidney was pretty damaged and if I wasn't careful it might have to be taken out. I don't know if he was trying to scare me into taking my medicine and to go to the bathroom right away when...
  7. Thanks so much for the link...that was very informative - I will share that with my doctor and make sure she does at least that!
  8. Hi Kamma- For awhile, I had a great deal of protein in my urine as well, but for the last couple of years, it's been okay. In answer to your question, yes, I think at times it probably hinders its ability to filter (hence the protein in the past). I have been told numerous times that if I have a UTI it would be important to treat it right away because...
  9. Thanks, Kamma! Didn't see anything about reflux specifically, but perhaps that means there is no true link. I guess my next perusal of research would involve kidney size and eventual celiac...because as I said, my left kidney is smaller than my right due to the damage that my past history of reflux as a child caused.
  10. Hi Megan- I did have blood work done...twice, although I am not sure if it was a complete panel or not as my doctors never have me the specific numbers...they just told me I was "negative" for the antibody. It was when I went to a GI doctor with my symptoms who told me that with my symptoms and underlying issues (Type 1 Diabetes AND vitiligo) that she...
  11. I will do that! Thanks! How many biopsy samples are usually taken during the endo?
  12. I had my ultrasound today as I guess the precursor to my endo and it brought up some questions that I was trying to research online but didn't come up with much. As a child, I was diagnosed with kidney reflux...and is usually the case, by the age of 12, everything had worked itself out. However, I found out today, that as a result, my left kidney is much...
  13. That's a scary thought - the lack of an accurate result in the best of cases. Causes me to wonder what the average amount of endo's have before getting an accurate result. Of course the tough thing to know is what an accurate result is. I'm stressing more about fasting and my blood sugar than I am about the endo itself...and just the idea of having to go...
  14. Wow! Only a single cracker/day...that's barely any gluten. Of course, I would guess there is gluten in places that one wouldn't expect. Well, at the very least, I won't add any more sources of gluten to my diet prior to the test.
  15. Especially with the low carb breads they have now, it is especially doable!! It may be unpleasant...but doable. I have previously been diagnosed with pcos, so fertility may be a problem anyway, but for about two years now, things have been working the way they should, so I'm hopeful that with that and eventually a gluten free diet it may not be AS hard...
  16. Thanks for all the help!! It's good to be in a place with so many people who share the same issues...even background of issues (like gall bladder removals!) Right now, I am not consciously going gluten free - but I am also not purposely just eating food with gluten. Like before this happened, I eat a pretty good mix. Would you recommend amping up the...
  17. Bought Udi's cinnamon raisin bread and tried it- was as good as advertised...and really, for only one slice, not too high in carbs either, so many thanks!!
  18. Thanks for the reply! I feel so confused about all this. Things seemed much simpler when I thought all this was just due to my lack of a gall bladder! Now, with the endo coming up, I feel as if I don't know what I am doing. I don't know how much gluten to eat now...if I should not eat any gluten free foods because that might screw up the results of the endo...
  19. I am pre-diagnosis, but scheduled to have an upper endo in about two weeks. I am not eating gluten free completely now because I do not want to mess up the test and get false negatives, but I am eating as carefully as possible to avoid my symptoms. So, today, for lunch I had a Special K protein shake and goldfish pretzels. Know the goldfish have gluten but...
  20. Thank you so much, GottaSki!! I will check it out. I think I willat least try Julian's because I would prefer the low carb option since I have diabetes. But Udi's definitely sound good for a day when I am being "good" carb-wise!!
  21. Thanks so much for all the information and advice! It makes all of this much less daunting. Although if I have it, I have a feeling cutting out all the gluten in my life is going to be much harder than I am imagining at this point. Will definitely ask my endocrinologist for more details about my test results. I have to call him for advice regarding fasting...
  22. Wow!! This is awesome! Thanks for all this great information. I'm going to go to a health food store after work that I know carries breads from Julian's, so hopefully they will have either the almond or the coconut variety. I don't tend to toast my bread, but maybe I will start to... I am a newbie in all this...what are udi's?
  23. Thanks for the information regarding the taste of the Coconut Bread, Butterfly Chaser. What is the texture of it like?
  24. ButterflyChaser - The coconut bread sounds very good as I love the taste of coconut - does it taste much like coconut or is it just traces of a flavor? Corn tortillas might be an option too...I just love bread! It's going to be hard saying goodbye to that. And crackers for that matter - I am a cracker junkie!
