  1. I'm definitely no expert and still pretty new to all of this, but if you cant get the doc to diagnose by blood work and diet improvements, then I would do the endoscopy. Especially because their blood work was positive- you'll be able to better assess the damage done. And like a couple others have stated, it may help them stick to the diet as they get older...
  2. My doctor was awesome, and listened to all of my concerns and is referring me. I believe I'll be getting an endoscopy and colonoscopy. Which is good so I can rule out other things as well. Im so looking forward to the results, and hoping everything is okay in there. It'll really give me a piece of mind. Cause I already know that if I don't have Celiac, then...
  3. IrishHeart, what kind of testing did you go through? Did you have positive blood work, and then they did the endoscopy? Im getting nervous about talking to my doctor. Im suppose to be following up with him about my enlarged kidney, and then I wanted to ask him about seeing the GI doctor to help me better figure out what is going on in there. I figured...
  4. Lol, you guys are cracking me up! Which is good, cause I was just feeling really stressed! Im waiting for my doc(PCP) to call me back, so I can talk to him about getting that referral that he mentioned about seeing the GI doc. I don't know if the GI is just going to hand over an endoscopy/biopsy though...I am kinda hoping that my PCP will just order one...
  5. Lol, yes it has slowly driven me crazy!!! Gottaski... Thank you for your kind words.
  6. Yes it does, thank you! You have all been so helpful! Aghh, part of me wants to push a little further and find out exactly what is going on in there, and part of me wants to just let some time pass with my diet/lifestyle change and let myself heal. I know that I definitely have some inflammation in there, I have had my two doctors feel and confirm the...
  7. Hi irishheart, Yes it is. I've heard very mixed reviews about them, that they aren't accurate or accredited, etc. At the moment, it's all the nonphysical evidence/proof I have gotten to be able to show my doctor I was right- I mean common, who would make up something like that anyways lol, life would be a lot easier if I/we could eat anything we wanted...
  8. Anti-gliadin IgA: 53Units (Normal is less than 10) Anti-Tissue Transglutaminase IgA: 11Units (Normal is less than 10) HLA-DQB1 Molecular analysis, Allele 1 -0502 HLA-DQB1 Molecular analysis, Allele 2 -0602 Serologic equivalent: HLA-DQ 1,1 (Subtype 5,6) Could I still get a positive biopsy? Even though I don't have "specific" genes to Celiac?...
  9. Thank you for everyone's response!! I can't tell you how much it means to me to have support like this. My family totally understands, but I think they get sick of me talking bout it- ya know, when I cheat... Then get sick. They're like if it makes you sick then stop eating it. Of course I know this, and have been trying to give it my all. I have a hard time...
  10. w8indave, YES! Me too! I think we should listen to ourselves. I was really torn today...but, after a reality check...I know I can't doubt myself cause others do. I know what's best for me. I think the more confident I am in that aspect, maybe I will get more respect from others. Good luck to you both!
  11. I feel like Im on the fence...Cause if don't do it today, I know I can't wait until Monday. I know I sound a bit dumb, like I'm waiting for someone to respond to tell me what to do...but I think I was waiting for someone to respond with advice that would enable me to make up my mind. After speaking with a friend, I think Im just going to pass. I guess Im...
  12. I'm totally in the same boat as you!!! I feel your frustration. I did go out of my way and pay for stool testing, which came did come back positive as far as having a reaction to it. I also have two genes(one from each parent) that supposedly makes me so much more prone to having this reaction? It said that I don't have the gene specific to Celiac and that...
  13. Hi, I'm back. I don't know if ya remember me. I just wrote a long post under aberlee's. Please read it. It explains my reasons...but have any of you self diagnosed yourself with Celiac? It just fits the bill man. Im so torn, because I know if I go back to my insurance doc, that I might, most likely be able to see a GI doc and push for an endoscopy. If I...
  14. Hi aberlee, I think I might do what you just mentioned. I know my doc would send me to a GI too, he did mention it before after all. I think I just got so fed up with their medical system always giving me the run around...I was over it at the time. I found the most awesome alternative medicine doc, who helped me so much. He ran some blood tests to find...
  15. Hi, I feel for you having to wait 3 weeks! Last month I was going bonkers. When you do go gluten-free, plenty of veggies, fruit, gluten-free grains like quinoa, brown rice, etc. and fish or chicken 2x a week is good while you are healing-no dairy. I love coconut milk! I also found fish is easier for me to break down instead of chicken. I've been eating this...
  16. Thank you everyone. Sorry I didn't mean to start a debate. I do feel that the results have shed some more light on my condition. I only had two tests done via blood(the rest weren't in the system)..and although it was elevated, as far as "there" standard range goes they said I was negative. But I believed otherwise. My new doctor also said, if you were negative...
  17. Thanks for responding. The doctors in my area(my insurance) are not educated enough about celiac to do the right tests-some weren't in the system, and every derm I've ever been to in the pass just doesn't listen- so, I didn't want to waste anymore time. It's just too depressing. Then I ordered enterolab, hoping it would shed a little light. I am however...
  18. Thank you so much. I should of searched the forums first before posting. I did find this, which I found very interesting: "When the GI Dr.'s are running their tests....they are looking for Celiac Disease specifically. A person can have leaky gut and as a result the immune system is producing antibodies (since gluten would be recognized as "foreign" in...
  19. I received my enterolab results, and low and behold I am gluten intolerant. I also have two genes, but it said it is not specific to Celiac. I have a horrible rash(everything leads to DH), and I have some kind of inflammation/infection in my intestines-when you feel them they are very hard(I am working with my holistic doctor). Here are my results: Gluten...
  20. Em314, I am the same way. But I've been this way for the last 8 years(started around 17). Doctors could never figure out what was wrong. Blood work fine, blah blah blah. Long story short, I've been trying to get my doc to rule out Celiac. What a mission this has been. I will be going gluten free regardless of the outcome at the doctors. Im so sick...
  21. You guys are so awesome, thank you for responding so quickly. Im from Hawaii, not too exotic. But, I always felt things were a little slower over here as far as the medical field goes. Yeah, the tests I was asking for weren't in the computer. We did order the Immunoglobulin, it's in the normal range: Results: My IGA 166.0 ...
  22. Mushroom? Ravenwoodglass? What do you think? Sorry I know you guys post a lot, and that you have good advice.
  23. Hi all, So I finally went in to the doctors. My doctor is very compassionate and listened to all my symptoms. He even ran blood tests for me, but here's the catch. He couldn't find a couple of them in the system!!! Thank God however, that EMA and tTG was in there-possibly antigliadin IGA-can't remember(that's the only ones on my Celiac list that was in...
