  1. Thank you both, I think I probably learned my lesson. I have been so extra careful since my diagnoses and it's as if I lost my brain this morning. I feel like I'm starting from scratch again, I had been gluten free and now I'm not. Grrr!
  2. I was grocery shopping today and got so hungry that I had the shakes. I'm newly diagnosed so it never even crossed my mind to check the label. I grabbed a protein bar at the store and ate it when I got to the car. I'm so sick and my DH on my scalp is itching like crazy. Does it become second nature to check every label? I can't believe I did that, it didn...
  3. I was diagnosed with Celiac Disease about 4 weeks ago. My GI Doctor sent me a letter that my biopsy results came back showing that I have Celiac Disease and that I should begin a strict gluten free diet. Luckily I do a lot of reading so I've read up on how in depth my gluten free diet needs to be. But do I require any follow up care? Should I be seeing a...
  4. How long after you eat those things do you start having issues with your DH? How do you link the two together? I'd like to figure out what aggravates mine.
  5. Thanks for all of the great suggestions!! A lot of times I am gone all morning running errands and just need a few things as a pick me up. But other times we are gone for the whole day and fast food just isn't an option.
  6. Thank you, I'll do that!! I had no idea!
  7. Why can't you have salt with DH?? I am newly diagnosed with celiac and have DH on my scalp as well but I got my diagnoses and the doctor sent me on my way. He didn't really give me a whole lot of pointers. I don't meant to take over this post but this sounds like something I should know.
  8. I didn't know Boosts were gluten free. I'll pick some up, that's a great idea!
  9. That's so scary! Chickenpox seems so harmless until you hear stories like these! My step Mom had Mumps as a child and it left her deaf in one ear.
  10. I will definitely pick up the book!! Thank you for the recommendation! I have DH on my scalp and I worry that the gluten will do harm by entering in through the sores?! I also have a itchy gross rash in and between my eyebrows but since I've stopped wearing my makeup that contains gluten, it's getting better. So maybe I have an allergy as well as celiac.
  11. Wow, how scary about your daughter! I hate the whole vaccine thing, I feel like I'm scared to vaccinate and I'm scared not to. The H1N1 Vaccine killed more people than the H1N1 virus itself.
  12. That's a good point! Sheesh, if I'm not careful I might just make myself crazy with all of this cc talk. If someone in my house get's sick, I am a sanitizing maniac. I can see myself getting a bit obsessive about gluten. How does everyone keep from turning into a crazy person??
  13. I'm used to packing kid food too, I guess I'll just have to get in the habit of packing a small cooler for all of us. At the very least it will safe us some money!!
  14. Ugh! That's frustrating! I'll have to check my razors!
  15. I would like to find a food co-op around here, I've heard great things! I never thought about hard boiled eggs, that would be easy to pack! Where did you get your 12 volt oven??
  16. YUM! Thank you for all of the great suggestions! I love the egg ideas, I am a huge fan of eggs! I am hoping to get better at my gluten free baking but so far everything I've tried has been a flop. I'm not really sure what I'm doing wrong?!
  17. I don't like tuna either but all of those others sound amazing!! I needed another excuse to get into the health food store (they make amazing home made soup and it's safe to eat!!), then I can pick up some squeeze packs!
  18. I'm sorry that you are going through all of this! I wish I had advice for you but I felt MISERABLE before going gluten free and I am just starting to feel better. I hope someone on here has some answers for you!
  19. Hmm, some of my replies aren't showing up.....
  20. Thank you!! I saw the hummus/tuna and cracker packs at Meijer the other day and I was wondering if they were any good. I'll pick some up!!
  21. Your post made me hungry, that sounds so good!! I will have to pack some picnic supplies in our vehicle so I am more prepared.
  22. I will check out Elana's Pantry, thank you!! I have had ZERO luck with gluten free baking for some reason but I'm hoping my luck with change. I think I can save a lot of money if I start making things from scratch!
  23. I can still have nuts so I will look into all of those! I made my own Larabars once but I don't have a good food processor, I'll have to see if I can find some to buy. They were really good!
  24. I will have to look for the pouches! Where do you find almond butter pouches?
  25. Great suggestion, I'm definitely doing this!! I will just have to get in the habit of packing the cooler and bringing it with me whenever I am going to leave for more than a couple of hours!
