What rice milk is safe for gluten? My son has been having belly problems and I just read that Rice dream has barley. I've been using Shoprite brand. I wonder if he is getting gluten. I'm going to call Shoprite and ask but they are clueless about anything I ask. I was using Rice dream also on and off if it's on sale. I know his belly is reacting to something...

ARCHIVED How Fast Do You React To Accidental Ingestion?
krisb replied to carrielynn's topic in Dermatitis Herpetiformis
I get very itchy after getting gluten. Deep in my ears itch too. It makes me nuts. I wasn't diagnosed with DH but all my rashes and blisters went completly away on the gluten free diet. It only comes back after getting gluten. My 5 year old also gets very itchy at night. He hates it. I put lotion on him but I sometimes wonder if he is allergic to something... -
I've been curious. One of my sons genetic markers was positive. The Dr. was looking at my side of the family. It makes complete sence but i was wondering if the test shows which side of the family it comes from. I can't find the answer anywhere.

I made a big batch of the gluten-free mix from Bette Hagman. It's the one with rice flour, potato starch and tapioca flour. I can't use the bean mixes because of allergies. So I made a huge batch to keep and I just ordered a 5 lb bag of the mix. The problem is that I can't find any of the recipe's that call for the original gluten-free mix. I have one bread...

I was just about to ask this very same question about perogies for my Mom. She always makes them around the Holidays and she promised us a gluten free Holiday. I'm so glad there are other people out there that have the same dilema. My Mom was just going to try to make the Bette Hagmans flour mix instead of Wheat flour and add the eggs and other ingredients...

ARCHIVED Dr.'s Neglected My Son
krisb replied to krisb's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
[Why are you wanting them to say he can't have gluten? People in this world are on all sorts of diets. You don't need an official dx of celiac disease for your child.] You are right. i think i just needed to hear it. I think I'm just so annoyed that I complained to Dr.'s his entire life about his health and they never took me seriously. I had to do... -
I just switched my 8 year old to a new Ped. I went and picked up his medical records from his old Dr. It's more like a book. He has had so many abnormal blood results that were just ignored. These records only go back to when he was about 3. I would like to see the records from his first few years, I'm sure they are disturbing also. Not only has he seen...

ARCHIVED Gluten And/or Add?
krisb replied to redheadheather's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
My 5 year old behaves ADD. He was just diagnosed celiac and I think it has to do with his behavior. He cheated the other day when he was at Sunday school and he was so hyper the next few days after that. He was out of control. I don't think he has ADD because at times he can focus and sit. He can sit through stories, movies and drawing. He makes me nuts a... -
ARCHIVED Bread Machine

Matilda, I have the breadman ultimate also. It cost me under $99 on sale. I'm having trouble baking bread in it at the moment. It sinks in the middle and comes out sticky. I need help if you have any suggestions. I'm really getting frustrated and I'm waisting a lot of money using all these ingredients just to throw it away. I wondered if the yeast... -

ARCHIVED Should I Be Doing More To Help My Son?
krisb replied to krisb's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
He doesn't go back to the GI until the end of October. She is on vacation. Maybe I will bring him to the ped in the meantime. I have a lot of questions that aren't getting answered. I worry about him. I feel like he has so many Dr.'s but they all assume the other is taking care of him. -

ARCHIVED How Were You Diagnosed?
krisb posted a topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
I would like to see how many of you got your diagnoses. Was it by bloodwork and symptoms or did all of you confirm it by biopsy. Or did some of you just do the diet to see if it helped. My older son was diagnosed by bloodwork, symptoms and ulcerated intestine. My younger boys were diagnosed by symptoms and bloodwork. My sister and her children have some... -
ARCHIVED Gf Bread And ? About Canola Oil?
krisb replied to kimber's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
I just bought EnerG bread. It is pretty good. My boys did not complain at all. It wasn't crumbly. I also made Gluten free Pantry bread mix. It was easy and came out pretty good. That wasn't crumbly either. My Husband is also giving me a hard time about getting tested. He has all the symptoms plus uncontrolable diabetes. It's so annoying. -
ARCHIVED Should I Be Doing More To Help My Son?
krisb replied to krisb's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
He says he is feeling better. He hasn't had any belly aches and it looks like he gained 2 pounds already! He hasn't been very gassy either. My younger boys were diagnosed the same time as Kevin. There belly aches are getting better too. They didn't go as long as my oldest with celiac so I believe there damage isn't as bad. -
ARCHIVED Should I Be Doing More To Help My Son?
krisb posted a topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
Since Kevin's colonoscopy and scope the Dr. said to start the gluten free diet. I did that but is there more I should do to help him heal? He is anemic, I'm assuming from his ulcerated intestine's. I wonder if he should have a suppliment or probiotic. I have a multi vitamin w/flouride but they are so brightly colored and I'm not sure if they have gluten.... -
For a few years now I was told I had psoriasis. Is it possible for a DR. to not recognize DH and think it's psoriasis? I have it on my elbows, some on my fingers and toes. It's so itchy it makes me nuts. It's the bumps like the pics I see. It's just not horribly bad looking all the time.

Thanks, I went out and bought a bunch of ice cream and candy. I bought some chococlate for them to keep in school. I did make them cookies but I didn't read the lable properly and it contained almond meal. i could have killed my son. He did eat them too and thank God he didn't react. I'm just in the proccess of figuring out what is safe. I also made my... -

krisb replied to krisb's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
I don't have that list. I know kraft and general mills is good for that. Nestle says they are but I'm not sure. -
My 8 year old was diagnosed first. So I decided to get the younger boys tested. I found out on my birthday that they all tested positive. I called the GI and told them I don't want to put the younger boys through the scope. She said I can just start the diet since they all have the symptoms, they have the pos. blood test and there brother has it. My test...
