ARCHIVED Anyone Try Tastes Like Real Food Brand?
krisb posted a topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
I don't understand how the wheat starch in the tastes like real food mixes are safe. Has anyone reacted to the wheat? I'm assuming it wouldn't be safe for a wheat allergy. -
I'm having a very hard time finding a teether type of cookie for my baby that is gluten and dairy free. Does anyone have a recipe for me to make my own? Or some kind of cracker for him to hold and chew on.

ARCHIVED Glutino Bagels...
krisb replied to kbabe1968's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
I love these bagels too. So do my kids. I found they come out better when I wrap them in a paper towel and microwave for 30 seconds before toasting. -
How do you find a good dermatologist that knows how to do it right?

This actualy was a new ped. I switched to this group last year when all the celiac stuff was going down. I was so impressed with the new Dr. because she was reading Dangerous Grains and was trying to learn about it. She was very supportive. Then at our last visit she was different She is funny like that though. A few months ago my husband got Lyme disease...

ARCHIVED Shocking Story #2
krisb replied to concerned-mom061's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
Bree, I'm very happy you got your child back. i can't imagine losing my child like that especially when they are sick and need you most. Congratulations. I have a bipolar daughter and every time i take her to a new therapist or Dr. we get accused of abuse or molestation because of her behavior. The state was sent for an investigation to my home. I was devistated... -
Since I've been gluten free a year ago the blisters on my elbows have been perfect unless I go out to eat and don't question the food. I never had a biopsy but I might in the future. Anyway, I went to Friendly's to eat the other day and my elbows are raging and I have blisters all in my mouth. I didn't question what I ate because I am pregnant and was starving...

I think at this point I won't even bother to call the old Dr. and have all the tests and films sent to the new Dr. First of all it's going to take some work with phone calls and tracking some blood work down and I'm not sure if I want to hear what this guy has to say after he gets the results. He made it clear that he wants to see them but still wants to...

All of you are right. I just needed to hear it. If they decide when they are much older that they need to have a definite positive biopsy then they can do it then. The Ped sent me to the GI because she said that the diet needed to be monitored by the Dr. I realized after the appointment that it was a waste of time for me. I had to drive an hour to get there...

My boys and I have been gluten free for a year now and all of us feel so much better. My oldest son was the one to have the biopsy and tests done. Some of his tests were inconclusive but he tested positive to the genetic test and other blood work. He was so sick before he went gluten free and was losing weight, failure to thrive, etc. I decided to put the...

ARCHIVED Anyone Been Dx Dh By Sight, Then Wanted Biopsy Later?
krisb replied to jljeje's topic in Dermatitis Herpetiformis
I just posted a similar post. I feel so much better without gluten. I would love to have a definite dx but I do know that even if it was negative I won't go back on gluten knowing it makes me feel so much better. My elbows are pretty much perfect since I went gluten free. And all my other symptoms are better too. I have better seizure control, stomach problems... -
After reading all the posts on DH I am totaly convinced that this is what I have. First of all it all cleared up when I went gluten free. My elbows have never looked so good. It's amazing how much they cleared up. Sometimes I get a little flare up but it isn't anything like it used to be. I used to get it on my toes, and fingers too. I just read a post about...

ARCHIVED Tofutti Ice Cream
krisb replied to krisb's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
Does anyone have any contact info so i can call them. I'm not totally convinced that the ice cream I had is gluten free. I am really suffering. All my rashes and funky symptoms are back. If it's not gluten then I am baffled by what I am reacting to. Maybe it's from the tofu that is in the icecream. What is tofu made out of? I want to figure it out before... -
ARCHIVED Bleu Cheese Unsafe
krisb replied to xcraigx's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
I use the kraft blue cheese dressing. Kraft said it was safe for gluten. I haven't had any problems. -
ARCHIVED Tofutti Ice Cream
krisb posted a topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
I've been having a reaction to the tofutti ice cream. My elbows are so itchy and I have rashes everywhere. I'm having my stomach issues also. The labeling isn't very clear and I don't have a number or web site to ask the company. Does anyone know if it has any gluten? -
Where do I find this recipe?

I'm trying to figure out how to find the recipe section if there is one. Or is it under the cooking and ingredients section?

I have made brownies from a mix but I would like to make them from scratch. I made 2 batches in the past 2 days and I'm not doing too well. I am determined to make a good brownie. They taste good but they are too soggy in the middle. I try to cook them longer but it isn't working. I will not give up until I can make a good brownie from scratch. Can anyone...

Why is everything that I need always out of stock. It's really starting to annoy me because there are some cereals that I can't seem to find anywhere else. Does anyone know where I can order some Aramanth cereals and Vans dairy free?

What about Westsoy rice milk? Is that safe? The company didn't get back to me yet. It's from Hanes I think. -
ARCHIVED Son Has Celiac Gene
krisb replied to kathy1's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
I completly agrea with this. Even if someone doesn't have full blown celiac I have learned that gluten is bad for many people. Plus I read an article that it's important to recognize a predisposition to celiac before the villi are gone. You want to catch it before that happens. People are so afraid of trying the diet. there are too many negative comments... -
I have gone my whole life with many health issues and gluten was never brought up as an issue. It wasn't until my son was going through many health issues that the Dr.'s just were so baffled by, that I went and did my own research and realized that most of my family have a gluten intolerance or celiac. Even when I brought up the subject to his allergist he...
