  1. Has anyone tried the SIMPLY ORGANIC Spicy Taco Seasoning? The ingredients seem safe, but is not certified gluten-free. Thanks!
  2. Hello there, HMF Probiotics by GENESTRA has a huge selection free of all (or most) allergens! They also have a baby version. I usually order online. All the best, these must be stressful times for you!
  3. Thanks so much, I will try that!
  4. Does anyone know if the modelling clay used, for example, in the KLUTZ clay charm set sold by Scholastic has gluten in it? What about other allergens? THANKS for your help!
  5. Hi Matt, What a struggle, isn't it? As for BF foods, you could try making your own "oatmeal" using, for example, quinoa flakes and milk/almond milk, maybe adding flax or chia seeds if you feel like it. There are also nice gluten-free pancake recipes, a little involved but worth it. All the best, Eva
  6. So interesting and helpful! Does anyone get emotional/mood symptoms after foods OTHER THAN GLUTEN that you cannot tolerate?
  7. I am so sorry to hear about your problems but I am glad that you at least figured out the salt issue. (Step by step, isn't it?!) I will be buying pure salt today. Does anyone have an advice what brand to choose here in Canada? (I'll order Real Salt online, though.) Thanks everyone!
  8. Thanks so much for sharing your insight! My son has a lot of intolerances, and I am keeping corn out of the picture more as a precaution esp. when he is sick. That's very interesting about the magnesium stearate and corn, it makes processed foods even more of an issue, doesn't it?! Thanks again!
  9. What type of salt is best to use for healthy nutrition in general and esp. in case of food intolerances? So far I bought the regular table salt (and assumed it is safe...) but now I saw that some of the brands have nasty additives in it. Sigh, even in salt??!!
  10. I am wondering if anyone has problems with Xanthan Gum? I am aware that it is derived using glucose etc. from either corn, wheat, dairy or soy, so does your reaction depend on where it comes from? Thank you for any input!
  11. Thanks so much! I have also just received this response from Bob's Red Mill about their Xanthan Gum: The microorganism that produces it for their product is fed glucose from wheat starch. However, they guarantee their product to be gluten-free regardless.
  12. I am wondering if Xanthan Gum I safe for people with corn and soy intolerance? I assumed it was but just read that it is derived from either corn, wheat or soy. Is it safer to use Guar Gum instead for gluten-free baking?
  13. Has anyone been able to find gluten-free broth that is also free of corn and soy? I don't find the Pacific Foods (Tetra Pak) too tasty and all the others seem to contain corn etc.
  14. Thank you so much for all your helpful comments!
  15. After being on Restoralax for a year, my son has now been given Lactulose by a doctor to deal with his extreme constipation. (He has been in terrible pain all week and the X-ray showed lots of compacted stool). Has anyone had experience with this laxative? I am a bit concerned because he is also intolerant to dairy and the med contains lactose.
  16. I am still looking for the reason for our son's recent episode of symptoms, likely glutening (serious constipation with intense abdominal pain). Has anyone ever used spices made by EMPRESS? I had an old jar of ground Oregano on our shelf and - without thinking clearly - used it in a dinner last week. The next morning it all started...
  17. Thanks so much for your helpful comments! I do have a few suspects as to where the CC could have come from. Good luck to all of us!
  18. Thank you, everyone, for your input! The problem with my son is that - once he gets abdominal pain his intestines are already so backed up that it is a several-week long and painful process to get back to normal. But true, a larger contamination is likely at play as well, and I am trying to figure out what it was.
  19. Has anyone experienced tiny amounts of gluten adding up over time ending with a sudden reaction "out of nowhere"? My son (gluten and many other intolerances) has had an intense reaction after being symptom-free for 6 months. Since there is no obvious source of gluten, I am wondering if he could have ingested gluten in tiny amounts over a long period of...
  20. Has anyone experienced problems eating these? My son (gluten intolerant) has had 6 months without any symptoms but has had severe abdominal pain and constipation this past week. I am not able to find any major gluten source in his recent food but he has been eating a lot of the gluten-free Rice Krispies and the Ener-G bread these past weeks/months. I...
  21. Could it be the soy sauce that has been used in this pan before?
  22. I forgot to ask: All of you who can tolerate the rice crispies well, do you have any other food intolerances and/or generally problems with processed gluten-free foods?
  23. Thanks so much for your helpful replies, everyone! My son has a variety of food intolerances, that is why I hesitated. I might try them after your encouraging words. Thanks again!
  24. Has anyone tried Kellogg's gluten-free rice crispies? The company told me that no other common allergens (incl. sulphites) are in them (I asked about soy, eggs, dairy, corn, and nuts), but I am still wondering if we should take the chance?
  25. It sounds very much like our 8-year-old. Our family doctor didn't do anything about his ongoing tummy aches and certainly didn't consider intolerances. Then the naturopath tested him for delayed food allergies. We need to avoid gluten (mainly all grains for now), eggs and nuts and things are slowly improving. Good luck!!
