I've been eating steamed vegetables all summer and they're great ; now I'm hooked. They're super quick to prepare, leave me feeling satiated and energized and help me get 5-8 cups of veggies a few days of the week. The veggies made my celiac gut feel a whole world better too.I can't remember the site, but I liked their method of cutting vegetables into maybe...

Gonna be a traditional winter this 2013, with bitter cold and snow. Lookin' forward to it, but I hope I won't freeze to death or slip and bust my hip ,but somebody probably will. www.washingtonpost.com/blogs/capital-weather-gang/2013/08/26/the-farmers-almanac-outrageous-forecast-a-stormy-super-bowl- What I'm gonna do is get a big bag of rock salt( to... -
ARCHIVED Wheat Bran - Try It - It's Great!
Candy replied to Candy's topic in Gluten-Free Recipes & Cooking Tips
For that matter ,you can't make a loaf of bread with wheat bran, you know why? Because the bran has no stretchy ,puffy gluten ,like real wheat has.You can't knead bran,or make it rise..it doesn't puff up and you can't roll it , pull it and shape it into bread. It's just flat and dry like autumn leaves. So if you can't make a puffy loaf of wheat bread out of... -
ARCHIVED Wheat Bran - Try It - It's Great!
Candy replied to Candy's topic in Gluten-Free Recipes & Cooking Tips
I totally understand avoiding wheat as a deadly, brain shrinking, gut ripping substance for us pure intolerants. But I don't think wheat bran is "wheat". It doesn't taste like bread or anything else for that matter. It tastes like sawdust, albeit sweet ,sawdust-probably why most people avoid it.It's the outer dry skin on the wheat-I'm in love with it myself... -

I've just discovered a gluten-free packaged rice mix about a week ago and ate it last night and tonite. It's Lundberg's Organic Whole Grain Rice & Seasoning mix and Wow ! It's a delicious godsend ! These gluten-free rice mixes are flavorful and wholesome. I was so surprised (with joy and satisfaction) when I discovered them at a supermarket on the... -
ARCHIVED Wheat Bran - Try It - It's Great!
Candy posted a topic in Gluten-Free Recipes & Cooking Tips
I've mixed wheat bran into my cereal and it gave me no "wheat" pain ,and make me feel fuller longer. I don't think it has wheat protein, since it's just the outer husk of the wheat and is not absorbed by the intestine. I think wheat bran is a celiac's best friend ! What do you think. -
ARCHIVED Vaccine Cure Possible For Autoimmune Disease
Candy posted a topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
I came across this article a few years ago saying that mice who were immunized with their own antigens were cured of their autoimmune diseases in experiments done by doctors in Germany and France. This is really good good news if they can get it off the ground. If this was available now I'd like to run and get it.... Open Original Shared Link -
ARCHIVED How Cigarette Smoke Helps Celiacs
Candy posted a topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
I'm not a smoker but I sometimes crave a cigarette at least twice a month and that being only since I had seemed to develop Celiac Disease in my late twenties. I did test positive for Celiac genes at Enterolab a few years back. I remember reading on this site an article that said Celiacs benefit from cigarette smoke but the article didn't say WHY... -

ARCHIVED Celiac Mothers Associated With Austistic Offspring?
Candy posted a topic in Related Issues & Disorders
Many media reports say that Autism and A child's mother with certain Autoimmune Diseases go hand in hand. Have researchers for www.Celiac.com proven this? I mean I don't actually see a list of tested and proven statistics here. But Media reports say Celiac Disease, Rheumatoid Arthritis, and Diabetes Type 1 ,but not other Autoimmune Diseases, contribute... -

Candy posted a topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
I learned of this autoimmune disease cure from Dr. Mercola's website and I sware I felt sorta normal again and I desired and ate a wheat bagel and wheat noodles;and felt OK afterwards too. I seem to get too much Iron or it isn't being processed correctly by the Liver-I had the Hemochromatosis test and it was NEGATIVE-but I often have gold bronzy skin and ,my heart tends to hurt, and my joints are stiff, yet all regular blood work given by the doctor comes back normal. Do any other Celicas out there tend to have this? Also My iron level was...

ARCHIVED Autoimmune Disease And Histocompatibility
Candy replied to Candy's topic in Related Issues & Disorders
I don't intend to marry my own brother or sister-that sounds totally backwoods ding-dong to me. But you can be properly bred with a person who is not too DISSIMILAR nor too different,to benefit one's own flesh. I heard that would prevent Autoimmune conditions. If I ever marry a dissimilar person I'll tell them that "I LIKE THEM DESPITE THE FACT THAT THEY... -

ARCHIVED Wheat Dissoluble Gut Enzymes-when Available?
Candy replied to Candy's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
Well my dear, lactose is not gluten. Celiacs are Gluten intolerant. One can avoid milk more often than one can avoid wheat and the study was about an intestinal enzyme that makes Gluten digestible and harmless to Celiacs. Obviously you don't know what I'm talking about, and you shouldn't -it's a lab and scientist that are working on this gut enzyme and... -
ARCHIVED Wheat Dissoluble Gut Enzymes-when Available?
Candy posted a topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
I read in a recent newsletter from this here Celiac.com that an enzyme that most people have in their intestine ,but Celiacs lack, could be marketed to cure Celiacs and allow them to digest all wheat products. They also wrote that it's readily available in large quantities, but I'd like to know when? When will they get it on the market? this year, next year... -
ARCHIVED Autoimmune Disease And Histocompatibility

Are all Celiacs Disease sufferers mutts? Improperly bred? A man on an Anthropological website seems to think that if people bred, married and conceived children based on them being histocompatible , they would not have autoimmune dieases. I guess there are a ton of mutts out there, because there are a lot of people with autoimmune disease. There is a dating...
