  1. Maybe I have an untreated case of Addison's or Hashimoto's .I've heard of these on this website.I've got kidney pains and fatigue, and weight loss, and salt cravings. My doctor would only test me for Sjogren's, which I had; but not Addison's. I seem to feel like I get too much iron ,but I tested NEGATIVE for heredity Hemochromatosis.I drink plain black...
  2. Where does a homeless Celiac go to get a good steak, onion and poatao dinner? And lots of milk and vitamins so our bones won't break? It could happen. Me, I'm a real old teenageCeliac .....almost 40.
  3. This condition certainly makes you special. You can't have it and do what everybody else does or wants .You have to do what you need, when you need to, and it helps to be financially and physically independent-no slave here. I feel like an exotic bird from a far-away place that has special dietary needs-or else it'll die. Only a very kind and wealthy person...
  4. Thanks ShayFL, for the greasy nut info. I'm not an idiot, and I know nuts are oily, but after I came down with this celiac disease around the age of 28 every thing changed ;suddenly I couldn't eat nuts,or squash, yams, or soy. I even had a few months when I couldn't drink milk, but it went away after two bottles of Lactaid ,and now I drink milk often. I figured...
  5. Can someone explain how nuts amd vitamin D deficiency tend to occur in people with Celiac Disease? I don't really know why,but I had a problem first with peanuts ,then ALL nuts, now I can eat a few Cashews,Walnuts and Almonds again, but for a long time they all made me kinda sick. Personally I don't worry about trace amounts of wheat-I just don't knowingly...
  6. Are you sure that you don't have Sjogren's syndrome? Look it up .Lots of Celiacs get that autoimmune condition also.I found out about it on this site AND I tested positive for it,plus my Celiac too.It can make the gums messed up and the teeth drop out.A blood test then an antibody test can tell if you have it.You'd also get dry eyes,I was diagnosed with that...

    ARCHIVED Hair Color

What hair color do most Celiacs have? A whole bunch of Red Heads claim to be related to me,and I think they assume that if I'm a Celiac , I must be related to their Red Hair or something.I think they are crazy-I really do. Most Celiacs are brown haired aren't they? Or are they mostly red haired? Red Hair is rare no matter what the condition, so it's not like...
  8. I just recently tried a a birthday cake with butter icing from this website. I xerox-ed it back in 2005, but I only just got around to baking it. I only made half a cake, since, I'm only one person, and it lasts two or three days.I put it in a bundt pan, which gives it a nice shape. It rose pretty high and looks like a whole cake it was so big. It was pretty...
  9. Try using only moisture soap on your hands; put vaseline petrolatum jelly on your hands then a pair of gloves at night;use hand creme profusely, try getting some without perfume-that might burn and sting.Maybe use plastic gloves if you wash dishes. Stuff like that. Maybe someone else more informed about the symptoms of Celiac may be able to tell you if...
  10. Believe it or not I ate some,SOME EINKORN THAT IS .I didn't notice any bumps or pains or any odd feelings. I'll try anything once or a few times. Some websites say it's safe others say it Isn't.Is there a way to tell if it's ok or not?I got it from a little seller of rare ancient Grains.
  11. I always thought I had Narcolepsy and it doesn't go away when I stop eating wheat. I'm always Xtra tired .I found that Caffeine does keep me awake ,so I don't spend most of the week sleeping.I'm going to take caffeine pills since the black tea makes me feel too dry and the green tea has only a third the caffeine as black tea ,so I'll take a caffeine pill...
  12. I haven't been called either, but it may be because I'm so rare that no one needs me, luckily. .That's what I figured. Me and you must be mighty rare Fiddle Faddle or maybe people with our backgrouns aren't sick, so they don't need donors and that too is very good , wouldn't you say? At the time I signed up for bone marrow donation along with donating blood...
  13. Hey Fiddle Faddle-I agree with what you read about Chinese American developing wheat intolerance. When I first thought I had it, I read that it is rare in Africa and Asia ONLY because they don't eat wheat in the first place. Many Asians eat rice, many Africans eat sorghum, and corn meal, and injera bread made out of some other grain. But the Article implied that...
  14. Can your Chinese friend go to ,www.enterolab.com? That's where I went to SEE if I was dealing with Celiac Disease.I didn't have health insurance, but could come up with $150 to speculate and SEE if I was subject to wheat intolerance. I like that the testing was in my hands and that I didn't have to beg someone else to agree that I should be tested. There...
  15. Eat Meat.Turkey, beef, chicken. As long as it's not too full of excess fat it's OK.And oatmeal, mashed potatoes.I use real butter when it's on sale.Get a hunk of meat when it's on sale and cook it just for yourself eat several slices of it,and freeze any left over for later. You can cook it in the oven, microwave, crockpot,or these new convection type toaster...
  16. Yeah,my backside hurts regularly, but I'm not sure what to do about it.I thought it has something to do with malabsorption of Calcium,or vitamin B. If I take more Co-enzyme Vitamin B Complex,it seems to subside a little, but I heard/felt my hip grinding too,and I thought ,"Oh no, I hope my hip doesn't break Off-I have enough problems".
  17. Vegetable stir fry is good, easy, and ofttimes affordable. But there is no easy answer-it's really worrisome. If you can find affordable veggie in and a good assortment, chop them and stir fry them (you'll have plenty left over,if you use several kninds of vegetables) I saute them in a mixture of butter and canola oil-I buy this stuff on sale most times or I...
  18. Coeliacs, tend to have weak bones even when they adhere to a gluten-free diet, and my whole system seems to be off-keel from what it normally would be , so should I cancel my agreement to be a bone marrow donor? I possibly think so. Even following a gluten-free diet ,I always seem weak and nutrient deficient ,but I just keep filling up on the proper foods...
  19. Can a person be admitted into the Military and have Celiac disease? Celiacs have good souls ,indeed, but with weak bones, shrunk bones, dizziness, weak muscles, and chronic fatigue, amongst other things,I would suspect that they would not be admitted into the military for medical reasons.Isn't thas true? But you'd have to tell medical examiners that because...
  20. Is it possible to have Lysosomal (Lipid) Storage Disorders along with Celiac ? Lipid storage disorders are usually deadly and kill in childhood or infancy, but I wonder if a person can have a less severe form of it along with Celiac ? It's when fats build up in the wrong places like organs and the brain. One is called Gauchers Disease another is called Niemann...
  21. Yep all,my joints been hurtin' since I was 15 and lately my ribs and shoulders feel odd and tight , I couldn't even breath either.I figured I'd been worsening it by not taking a calcium supplement with Vite D which I just started doing.I hadn't been drinking much milk because I couldn't tell how it was making me feel-sometime it's OK ,and sometimes milk...
  22. A website I came across told said that "a Free Form Amino Acid complex" was good for Celiacs ,because it provides necessary protein that is easy for the body to use. and rated it's importance :Very High. I searched Online for "Vitamins for Celiac", and came across Open Original Shared Link This site has good advice .
  23. Corn products makes me feel not too good too, except for a little popped corn,or fresh corn. But Celiacs suffer from so many conditions.I don't know why corn makes some of us sick.If it makes you sick just don't eat it.Eat oats or rice, fruits, vegetables, some meats.I learned celiacs don't absorb B vitamins so they should get vitamin B shots or take the "sublingual...
  24. Same here -I have joint pain /trouble too-stiffness. I'll try cutting out foods we shouldn't eat ,I'll return to papain tablets (I used them when I was a teen, before I knew I had celiac).I haven't heard of the Pancreatin pills, I'll look them up(there are so many enzymes and stuff for consideration) I haven't given it much thought. The advice and response...
  25. I had mysterious white spots on my teeth ,but i had no idea it might be related to celiac. But I was wondering what in the world could be causing it , now thanks to this forum I know . Candy (cause I like candy)
