  1. Okay, so I finally had my first meeting with my GI. Not exactly a friendly kind of guy. He said the Celiac blood test that my GP ran, ruled out Celiac. It had shown IGG as a strong postive but the IGA was 0 and the Ttg was only 1. I asked about the lack of a Total IGA serum test, but he didn't seem too concerned. I wish they would just run it to be...
  2. My guess is that you have it, too. On the other hand, I wouldn't start the diet until after you get the biopsy. It might affect the results of the biopsy if you stop eating gluten. There is still a chance you don't have it, but not a particularly good one...
  3. You must be incredibly frustrated! Since you have tried everything else, I would try to get in with some gastro "guru" type doctor. I would maybe write to someone at the Mayo Clinic or something like that. Explain everything you have gone through. Obviously something isn't right. There must be something that someone can do for you. I feel so badly for...
  4. I had so many of the same questions. I wonder about the variance as well on the tests. Heck, I have even compared some of my older standard blood tests with new ones for the normal things, (blood count, liver panel, etc) and I was trying to compare three different tests to see what could cause the variability and wondered if it was just the nature of the...
  5. I understand about the tests. That really isn't my question. It is about the percentages they give for accuracy of the tests. If biopsy isn't always positive with Celiac, then the accuracy of the tests on the percentage charts given in this site, may actually be low. In otherwords, some of the test examples, might have shown positive on the blood test...
  6. I have some questions for all of you. When I read the literature out there, it seems like most doctors say that the "diagnosis" for Celiac can only be given when the "gold standard" of biopsy test is done. This came out of some conference where the "expert" doctors were there. When I read what many of you have written, it is that the biopsy can rule...
  7. I don't know if it is Celiac related, but it IS thyroid related. That is one of the symptoms when your thyroid isn't functioning. You also have trouble with the cold.
  8. I was just wondering, before you were diagnosed, did you just continually get sicker. Or... did you have some days when you thought you were actually getting better, only for the stomach problems to come back?
  9. I don't know, but I posted yesterday about a study that reports that TTG isn't as specific as they used to think it was. People with IBD, were also showing positives on the ttg test...
  10. Mine is. It was found during a CAT scan. Nobody seemed overly concerned about it.
  11. I have read on this board that several people have stated that the anti-tissue transglutaminase was very specific for Celiac. According to this article: Open Original Shared Link it states that low positives are also found in Chron's disease. I know that some people were diagnosed by blood test alone, and I am just wondering how they know it isn't chron...
  12. Thanks! Out of curiosity, is it usual to have an anti-gliadin IgA test of 0? Is it still very likely that the overall IgA antibodies are normal, even though this one particular one is 0?
  13. The IgA was 0. Does this mean deficient? I am assuming so, but this is all new.
  14. Here are the test results: Igg=21 on a scale of 1-9 Iga=0 (NEGATIVE) Ttt=1 (1-3) being normal. So the only positive was the Igg.
  15. Don't know yet! I called the doctor's office this morning to get the results of my blood work. I was being tested for several things, not just Celiac. Anyway, the receptionist says not all the blood work is not back, but that ONE test for Celiac turned up positive. She said there is a note from the doctor to not eat any gluton. They will send me something...
  16. Hi, I went to the doctor with some gastro-intestingal issues. I have also been really tired lately. I also have problems with my thyroid that require Synthroid. Anyway, she is testing me for Celiac disease. I have never heard of it before. I have been reading everything on all the various sites since yesterday. I certainly don't have any of the extreme...
