  1. I've removed my posts, as I do not wish to see my post used for argument fodder, and don't have time or energy to keep clarifying. If anyone wants to know what to do with their tools, please do a web search and decide for yourself. Geez.
  2. I'm not pregnant, just to be clear, but wanted to offer some encouragement, I hope. You ladies have my kudos for bringing a new life into the world while having to deal with this condition. At any rate, calories are important, of course, but more than that is the consumption of vitamins and minerals. While I was in recovery from my last glutening, I decided...
  3. I couldn't agree more with nvsmom. I think she's completely right about what the doc meant by "borderline." Hopefully, you've caught the illness early and have avoided a lot of issues. I hope you feel better soon!
  4. Allergy-Free Alaska saved my hopes for the holidays. lol.
  5. Maybe it's a close call, so that the general population experiences one thing, while the reports are showing something else. Maybe I should have used the word "slightly," as one of the articles I read did say that it was only a little more prevalent in men. It also said that it can occur anywhere on the body, but that those are the most common locations....
  6. Thanks, Lady. I thought it was interesting that I never had it before or since, that males get it more frequently and I was carrying a boy. lol. Sometimes, a cigar is just a cigar, though.
  7. When I was pregnant with my son, I acquired a rash that left my shocked OB scratching her head. It stuck around for far longer than I would have wished. But once it went away, it never came back...I think. I also would get hives, but I'm not sure that was related. It was AMAZING in its itchiness, redness, rawness, and the shear surface area of my body that...
  8. What do you mean, "butterfly effect?" Where is the rash appearing, exactly? Edit: I'm going to include this link, because I'm not sure when I'll get back to this thread, and I'd hate for you to wait for an answer to why I responded as I did. It's because Lupus has a characteristic butterfly rash across the face, and if you have Lupus, I hope you'll be...
  9. Actually, the OP, which is me, posted something pertinent that got lost amid the fray. But whatever.
  10. I've done the checks, too, and I noticed a HUGE difference between eating gluten and not. Of course, I don't just have heartburn, either. Heartburn is one of my symptoms, and it's horrid. I like the advice of sticking with it, longer, if you really want to know if you will continue to improve. If it helps, maybe look at doing the checks as: two steps...
  11. Nutrients are more important than carbohydrates, but carbohydrates are our "quick energy" source. Fats pack much more energetic punch, but time is not on their side. There is a maximum of allowed protein, because you start getting build-up of uric acid and such. Open Original Shared Link I'm offering this, in the hopes it will be taken as a suggestion...
  12. I think I shall be making chili, tonight. I'm missing some ingredients, but that will be easily remedied.
  13. What about millet? I find that millet reminds me of corn flour. I wonder if you could sub it for a cornbread type of bread?
  14. I would guess it's not "allowed."
  15. IN A FUNK! OMG, It won't seem to go away. I posted that I wasn't really angry on the "After Celiac Diagnosis Were You Angry?" (my estimation of the title), but I have been moody at times, especially when I find out I can't have a beloved food, like creamed corn! T.T I want to throw a tantrum that would embarrass a two-year old.
  16. I have gotten such a kick out of the last few comments. XD XD XD Dinner? Tonight? Same as last night I guess. Three kids. Single mom. Celiac or gluten intolerant. Self-employed private tutor who isn't getting paid enough, as it is. :-/ One of my students asked me if the kids would have dinner ready for me when I got home. I laughed....
  17. Hi, I'm new to the forum so I'm sorry if this is in the wrong place or if my questions appear a little stupid. I've been suffering with Celiac-like symptoms as far back as I can remember. However, this Summer things progressed to a point where I couldn't take it so eventually doctors did the bloodwork and the scope both of which were positive for Celiac...
  18. I will be trying Allergy Free Alaska's gluten-free pie crust recipe with my grandma's pecan pie, and finding some way to make dressing. If I can't eat the turkey, because it was stuffed, I'll get a Jenny-O or something.
  19. Every time I read "sandwich" or "bread" or "mac 'n cheese," I freak out a little bit. lol. Then, I remember that we ARE talking gluten-free. Must be my newbie status to gluten intolerance. I went simple and quick with tuna fish with mayo and Almond Nut Thins. Now I wish I'd had a sandwich, instead. *sigh*
  20. I just found out about this study, too. Open Original Shared Link I'm hoping that in time, my daughter and I will see beneficial effects in the mood category.
  21. Hi, Rach! I was thinking Dermatitis Herpetiformis too. I think this all points to a possible celiac diagnosis, too (not a doctor, however). Hopefully you'll find out so you can start working toward getting better! Welcome to the group! I'm new here, too.
  22. To be honest, I was SO sick just prior to my a-ha! moment, that I was actually kind of happy. Now, before that, I had frequent bouts of irritability and when glutened, I do, but given that I'm seeing a noticeable improvement, those aren't as bad or as often as previous. There are some food products that taste good to me. I found a recipe for homemade...
  23. I almost made that same mistake. lol. I was wondering if we should continue with the current discussion. ?
