  1. Thanks, NGC, I decided to look up another source, too, because I was just curious if the attitude is common. Having done purifications, myself, the only way to completely remove impurities would be to run it on a chromatography column or distill it. In cases like these, contamination is still a concern, even after a second processing step. This is...
  2. It was the seasoning packet I was worried about. It has maltodextrin, so that's why I called. The package says "Contains Wheat" of course, because of the flour tortillas. I wanted to be sure the seasoning packet was fine, and I would avoid the flour tortillias.
  3. NoGlutenCooties, Please let us know what they say at M&M/Mars. I'll post what I hear from Old El Paso. He's going to call me, though, so I won't have the benefit of copying and pasting from an email.
  4. I have had some similar symptoms. It was like migraine aura or something. I would turn my head, but the vision wouldn't really match what I was supposed to be looking at. Like the signal from the eyes took longer to get to the brain, than normal. I did have a headache at the time, as well. I get dizziness a lot. Less than I used to, but I think...
  5. I was a server, and occasionally got asked questions like this. We served an international population, too, and needed to be mindful of vegetarianism, and such. This is how I normally handle it, where ever I go. I will ask the server or cashier, when they have a moment, something like, "I'm sorry, I know you're busy, but I was wondering if you could...
  6. During this last glutening, when I got bound up, I relied on juicing. I couldn't eat much, but I found the liquids to be hydrating, and, naturally, there were nutrients going in, so I think it may have helped with the amount that I was able to absorb. I'm still fatigued, but at least I'm not bound up, and the heartburn is very minor and occasional. Before...
  7. LOL! I just got off the phone with Old El Paso. I accidentally picked up the soft and hard pack, instead of just the hard shell pack. I know I'm taking a chance, anyway, but I read that Old El Paso is one of the good ones. Plus, I ran today, and if I don't make exceptions, I'll be out of food money in a week. He's going to give me a call back. I'll share...
  8. If anything was verification that it's gluten that I should be worried about, it was the surprise I got after having the Milkways. Good I like the Midnights better. ;p While going through the candies and the kids' hauls, I found Whoppers. I've never been able to eat many of them. Even as a kid, they would make me sick. Telling? Maybe so. Anything malted...
  9. I've had blockbusting headaches since I was about 9. Maybe before. I used to "remember" that I was 7, but the earliest one I can remember now dates back to when I was at least 8. My daughter has had headaches for a very long time, as well, and she's 17. She's telling me they started for her when she was 7. My other two get headaches sometimes, too. I...
  10. Ugh! I didn't know that about the mini's. Why do they put the ingredients on the bag, then? I know, I know, it's not labeled "gluten free." lol. And, I guess it's a safe bet, since they're run in the same facilities. I knew I was taking a chance, but never reacted before I had the mini Milky Ways. Thanks for pointing that out, NGCooties. Love your moniker...
  11. Years ago, I was on Zoloft, with hardly any issue. I never really experienced too many side effect. Went off it, after a while, and did "okay." Then, I had insomnia that was causing problems in my daily life, oversleeping wake-up times for work and getting kids off to school. Doc put me on amitriptyline. It was THE worst. It was like all of the water...
  12. Kelly, I understand that! I hope it's that, too, for your sake. It's so HARD to cut dairy out, completely. *sigh* May you find healing, soon.
  13. Now that it's not the middle of the night, I have time for a proper response. gluten-free Lover, I'm having the compulsion to test the theory less and less. lol. The problem, lately, is trying to get my children on board with being meticulous about keeping the gluten-free and regular utensils and baking tools separate. I think we'll need my daughter's...
  14. KellySensei, I thought the exact same thing. And it seems I can tolerate a little milk and dairy, but after a certain level (more than a cup, I've estimated), I start to have problems. I didn't notice it until I was not having symptoms, anymore, then suddenly got symptoms after having dairy. I hope you find out what it is, and start to feel better...
  15. Yes! For a while there, I was eating Tums like candy. I'd lie down at night, and I could FEEL the acid running up my esophagus. Oh, it was horrible! I didn't have the cough, but I certainly had to watch when, how much, and what types of foods I ate to avoid paying for it, later. And even then, it didn't always work. I was hearing whispers of GERD and...
  16. Basophils are one of the white blood cells. I believe they are associated with allergy and correlate with IgE. (Stretching my study of Immunology from a few years ago.) My neutrophil and C reactive protein (both associated with inflammation) were tested a few years back, so this is just another check on your immune system, to see if there is a possible...
  17. Thank you for the welcome and support. I'm sorry I haven't gotten back before now. I was dealing with my daughter being tummy-ill yesterday. I broke down, given that this happens often with her. She wakes up in the early morning with stomach ache and she often gets nauseated. PCP--> referred to GI doc.---> Script for bloodwork. We did that this...
  18. Hello, all! I'm "new" but have lurked here, many times, trying to figure out what was wrong with me. So, thank you, to the powers that be and the posters for providing this resource. I have been gluten-free since about mid-July. I had gone Low FODMAPs after a particularly evil bout, slipped a few bites of cookie and ended up in the bathroom for several...
