ARCHIVED Intro/need Advice/feeling Frustrated
124chicksinger replied to RobinRubin's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
I am no expert, and tested negative for celiac disease recently, but strongly believe I am sensitive or intolerant to gluten. That written, I already know that you're having gone gluten free - then eating a sandwich the day of the test - is reason enough for a negative result. One must eat gluten successively, at least I believe the equivalent of 2 slices... -
ARCHIVED Question About Weight Loss...

...or diabetes type 1...or overactive thyroid...those 2 were my first guesses if celiac is not the answer. Those 2 are easy(ier) to check than celiac it seems. I'm terribly sorry to hear about the loss of your son. You have my deepest sympathy.- 4 replies

ARCHIVED Introduction And Symptoms
124chicksinger replied to CeliacQuest's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
Honestly, in reading your post, before you mentioned Lyme, I thought...Lyme. The initial tests for Lyme were positive you state, but then you went to a doctor who treated you and then you believed that doctor to be a not treating you correctly, or the tests to be nonsense--is that right? My husband has a long history of neurological Lyme and is currently... -
ARCHIVED Never Tested....and Wish I Had
124chicksinger replied to Wakingup's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
After putting 2+2 together and getting 4, I thought I had celiac disease after having symptoms that started about 3 years ago. I am no expert, and I tested negative both blood and scoping for celiac just 10 days ago. However, I decided, like you, to eliminate gluten anyhow. I have a negative diagnosis, but I am testing myself with eliminating gluten and... -

Thank you all for your responses. Cycling lady, thank you for mentioning gastroparesis; I saw that during my "research" into my symptoms, and I do not think it is that (no nausea or vomiting), and I have been Dtype2 for about 14 years. For 10 days now, since I had the scopes, I am eating gluten free, even looking for/avoiding the hidden gluten. To my... -
IGA Serum, high 560 - the doctor said nothing about it; didn't even mention it to me. Tissue Transglutam AB IGA - 1 - Antibody not detected Tissue Transglutam Ab IGG - 1 - Antibody not detected Endomysial SCR IGA w/rfl - negative biopsy pathology - negative for celiac damage ------ While I'm happy with this, I do believe I'm gluten sensitive...

ARCHIVED Endoscopy And Colonoscopy Whilst On Warfarin?
124chicksinger replied to yabson's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
This week I had scoping on both ends at the same time. The colonoscopy was my first "routine" and the upper endoscopy was a bonus to look for celiac. There were issues found at both ends. I may not have celiac, but there is inflammation in the upper scope and biopsies were taken all the way down, esophagus, stomach, small intestines. So definitely to check... -
ARCHIVED Scopes And Blood Work
124chicksinger posted a topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
Had the scopes yesterday. Ugh. I think it was a downright horrible experience, but now knowing what it all entails, I wouldn't be scared if/when it needed to be done again. Took numerous biopsies all the way down to the small intestines b/c there was inflammation in the esophagus, and took stomach biopsies also. Papers I was given on the way out with... -
ARCHIVED When You First Start To Eliminate Gluten Containing Foods
124chicksinger posted a topic in Related Issues & Disorders
As you can imagine, I have many questions. I have not yet received the blood work results, and am having this Wed. the endoscopy biopsy, along with colonoscopy. I have had digestive issues about 2 years now, and only recently the light bulb went on with both me and the doctor. Regardless of the results, I am going to eliminate gluten. The obvious food... -
ARCHIVED Did Celiac Cause My Diabetes?
124chicksinger replied to jbeyes's topic in Related Issues & Disorders
I am being tested this week, biopsy, for celiac. 24 years ago (I remember cuz my daughter was 2) I was diagnosed with hypothyroidism. 12 years ago (I remember cuz my favorite boss quit), type 2 diabetes. I won't go into the other "illnesses" or symptoms that I'm reading accompany celiac and/or gluten intolerance, but I had perhaps a stupid notion that... -
ARCHIVED How Much Gluten To Eat Before Endoscopy?
124chicksinger replied to Abbyrg's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
I am having the upper endoscopy biopsy this Wednesday. I am also having colonoscopy same day. I joked to the doc will he "meet in the middle of me?" I am told I will be knocked out for both. I asked did I have to swallow the tubing, etc. and he said no I'll be unconscious. I don't know how they do what they do and I'm scared/nervous, but it is what it... -
ARCHIVED Never Felt So Sickly, Please Help. :(
124chicksinger replied to Charlotteee89's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
I am no expert on this; I am new. It seems to me if you want to rule out gluten, you need to not be eating it for longer than a meal or a day. Toast and biscuits doesn't sound like a good diet to have generally. While I am not yet off gluten, I do know when I'm trying to eat more healthfully I opt for fresh fruits, veggies, lean meats, soft cheeses. As... -
Thank you for your reply. I have assumed that since the skin is the largest organ digestive, malabsorption, allergies, intolerances, could be the background for the eruptions. I truly look forward to eliminating the gluten and seeing how it affects me. I am hoping the superficial visual things, the hair loss, the tongue, the skin issues, will abate. It...

ARCHIVED Symptoms
124chicksinger replied to michaelki's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
I can speak to the ringworm. My daughter recently had this on her thighs, and it is very resistant. Google that and you see people's stories in getting rid of it. The good news is a) it isn't life threatening and if one cream doesn't work, get a prescription for a different cream. My daughter didn't respond to the keto prescription cream, nor a Lotrimine... -
Petechia on hands/wrists and then also appeared on feet/ankles. Itched like mad and stayed for months. I used aloe, anti itch creams and lotions to soothe/heal. Many many cherry angiomas popping up, some raised, most flat, lots on my face and neck. Hives at least 2x per week - often on the neck, cheek or above the upper lip and usually only 1 or ...

ARCHIVED Dr Office Called For Appointment To Discuss Results. Bad News ?
124chicksinger replied to Leomag's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
Try to calm both your and your son's anxiety over the weekend - you are very close to knowing the answer. I know how frustrating that is, but soon enough you'll see the doctor. From there you'll have decisions to make, either positive and make dietary changes, or negative --- and make dietary changes. I am in the same boat awaiting results, but already... -
I am new to the forum and the disease as well; undiagnosed. All I know is new information I've read. If a relative has a celiac diagnosis, your chances increase. You said the celiac test came back negative -- was that the gene test or you don't know? I don't know the difference in blood testing for celiac and gluten intolerance...I did not know there...

ARCHIVED Not Diagnosed Yet....lots Of Issues, Worries, Questions
124chicksinger replied to 124chicksinger's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
Thank you. I'm ready to change my life, and I know I have to continue with the gluten until the 5th. I am just about forcing myself to have some daily. Reading your history I noticed the histamine. My husband suggested an allergist; I went last week. He said I was dermographic and would like to put me on antihistamines. He said dermographics are often... -
I am waiting on blood work results, and have scoping scheduled for next Wednesday, March 3. As many of you will sympathize, it has taken a few years of suffering, and connecting the dots, to get to this point. I do not know why my GP, who also has a gastro practice, didn't draw this conclusion sooner. Instead, it was menopause. The rashes on my hands...
