  1. Oh, let me tell you all a story. My husband's trusted chiropractor had his wife work with him, and she would utilize kinesiology to tell you what you were allergic to - by having you bring suspected culprit food allergens - and having you put them into your own mouth - and having you PULL HER FINGER - and she would gauge by how strong or weak your grip was...
  2. I have been diligent for 2 days shy of 5 weeks. Yesterday, not wanting to rock the boat, I went along with my family to a Cuban restaurant (after having visited a relative in the hospital) knowing I'd have limited choices. Rather than focusing on what I could not have, I had a salad with o&v, grilled shrimp, white rice and red beans. I know how I make...
  3. Honestly, sometimes I'd welcome a good fart~! I spent so much time backed up with constipation that when I finally went it was an ordeal; then what would often follow, I guess depending on what I ate, was D, or urgent explosive D, then back to constipation for days. Now that I have eliminated gluten (just 4.5 weeks) already there is a difference down there...
  4. First, lose the obvious gluten foods (breads/pastas). Focus now on what is naturally gluten free. Breakfast: Eggs, butter, bacon, ham, potatoes...make omelets with vegetables, cheeses. (All that is missing is the toast.) Cereals - there are gluten free rice cereals; add fruit. For muffins, make your own corn muffins (Redd's is a good mix), and add blueberries...
  5. Hi. What I can add, what will be echoed by many, is in the beginning it is a good idea to stick with unprocessed foods and eat clean. It is much easier to eliminate all grain products and choose meats, veg, fruits, and safe dairy. Some will advise to lose the dairy as well, but that is an individual choice. These give your body time to heal and leave...
  6. I have a petechia type rash on the tops of my feet, "crawling" up to my ankles, and a smidge on the tops of each hand. My GP/GI said he didn't have a clue, This was about a year ago, and now it is back. The first time, it started on my left hand and I thought it might be a nickel allergy to a cheap watch. Then it went to my feet. I was taking Biotin...
  7. Its a shame the testing can't be more specific, especially the biopsies. It seems unless your intestines are riddled with damage, there is a chance the damage cannot be found. Trust the blood work and your reaction to gluten. As to the high fiber for the diverticulosis, you can get plenty of fiber without those "healthy whole (wheat)(rye)(barley) grains...
  8. So my 2cents likely has nothing to do with gluten, but also I didn't know the fake crab contained it either at the time. Fake crab is a horrible product that no one should eat. Before I was gluten-free (am only 4 weeks so now) I ate lunch at a buffet and one of the items was small shrimp, peas, carrots, and a white sauce (think thin white lobster sauce...
  9. Don't eat the gluten, and don't eat the prescribed high fiber grain diet - you can get plenty of fiber without eating the gluten containing grains. Eat an apple - high fiber. Pineapple, high fiber. Strawberries, high fiber. Even tho the strawberries have "seeds" it is okay to eat them. Diverticulosis doesn't collect the seeds within the pockets and get...
  10. Good luck with the testing. I want to add that I tested negative both in blood and scoping, but I eliminated gluten anyhow. In 3.5 weeks, I already see a difference in my bathroom habits. I'm not hungry, am adjusting well to the gluten-free foods, have no cravings, don't feel as if I'm being punished by not being able to eat....whatever has gluten...and...
  11. I do not know if anyone has posted these previously, but I made them today, and they are amazing. I did substitute 1 real egg (per the comments) for the 2 flax eggs. I had to add a bit of water also as the batter was quite thick and dense, like fudge! The batter, even tho it contained egg, I did taste a tiny bit and it was delicious. I used everything...
  12. LOL Shellie - I am an old lady that now sings occasional karaoke with my grown daughter. Back in the late 70s, early 80s, I sang with a few local bands in local clubs in New Jersey and had a hoot and hollering good time, tho we never got famous Gluten doesn't seem to affect the voice, lol, though I have a geographic/fissured tongue that I'm hoping going...
  13. I sort of "jumpstarted" the gluten elimination the day before the scopings (both ends). I haven't consumed gluten since, and perhaps the Movi-Prep drink to empty the colon did something to detox my system? I didn't have a bm for 6 days after the scopings, and my glucose readings were high (for no reason, except I think the Movi-Prep), but I'm becoming...
  14. This is obvious but I have to ask - are you sure the blood is coming from the vagina and not the urethra? "Vaginal" bleeding from the urethra when one pees can be a sign of diabetes; not to make you worry further, but if it is only when you go to the bathroom, and your period doesn't come; are you sure which "hole" the blood is coming from after you wipe...
  15. I feel that you don't owe anyone an explanation. I understand why it will be a chore for you to be there, rather than a luxury. I attended a family Xmas in Dec, and did not eat, did not drink, and didn't hug anyone b/c of a raging sinus infection. I only went b/c it was my husband's family; he had not seen many of them for 6 months, and 2 cousins...
  16. Thank you both for your replies. Eliminating the rice will likely come in time, but I am cutting it down. I do not have DH, but I did have, and currently have what looks like petechia rash on my right foot trailing up the ankle, a bit on my left foot, and a smidge on both hands. What I mean is they look like petechia under the skin, but the dots can...
  17. I know very little - like you, I came here to post before I got my test results. Like you, I share many of your symptoms. Until you see the doctor, you're going to be worked up over what may or may not be celiac. I was the same, wanting answers NOW. Having the genes doesn't mean you are positive for celiac, but that celiac can't be ruled out. The gold...
  18. I can't imagine that damaged villi are the only reason for malnutrition or malabsorption or low levels of vitamins, etc. I totally understand your frustration - I fully expected my tests to come back positive for celiac based on my underlying conditions and symptoms and health history, but I'm relieved not to have the antibodies and the damaged intestines...
  19. You know what you owe other people outside your family? Zero. Nothing. When invited, you can simply say sorry, I can't make it. When invited to bring your mom somewhere, have the words ready, "oh, sorry, I can't, I'm busy that day." You owe nothing more than that. Their reaction is their problem, not yours, and you don't have to explain how you feel...
  20. I am new to this gluten free. Recently scoped and blood tested negative for celiac. My underlying could-be-related-to gluten health conditions, plus my symptoms and gastrointestinal and bowel habits lead me to believe gluten IS my issue. That written, I am doing a trial elimination of gluten and already my bowel habits have changed/improved. Having...
  21. I am glad you are recovering. Too bad you have dairy issues because that is where one can easily up the calories without upping the volume. There are definitely food choices you can make that are high calorie, low volume, that won't overstuff you. Bacon for instance is pretty much a frivolous empty calorie food, but people do add some bacon to a salad...
  22. I know these are obvious questions, but are you eating more than you did when you were sick? Are you eating dairy, and if yes, are you making full fat choices? Can you indulge in icecream now and again? I am no expert, fairly new to this, and as to doubting your recovery because you have not gained weight, I would say look to what other positive results...
  23. The more I read, the more I believe gluten has wreaked havoc on me my entire life, and I tested negative both in blood and biopsy. I do not blame the doctor for not taking enough tissue. I actually feel thankful this route was pursued at all; however, though the science says I do not have celiac, it does not rule out sensitivity/intolerance, and that...
  24. My petechia rash is back on my feet. The right one looks terrible. It is itchy too, and sometimes it feels hot (not that the skin is hot to the touch, but that the rashy part makes my foot where it is feel hot). Actually, it starts on the top of the foot near the ankle, and makes its way up the leg. If it continues, I will definitely go to a dermatologist...
