  1. I was diagnosed with RA before being diagnosed with celiac disease. My symptoms are not very severe and I do not take prescription meds for them. When the weather changes, though, I do have some pretty bad pain in my back.
  2. I have never had any dreams about being gluten-free but I did have a dream about being in a moonbounce with Bob Saget. Just thought I'd share.
  3. I was trying to take vitamins but every time I would take them, I would get sick. It turned out, there was gluten in my vitamins! Does anyone have suggestions for really good gluten-free products? Liquid would be good, since I can't swallow pills, but I don't know where to get them.
  4. I am not pregnant but I do have someone special in my life and I would like to be when I am feeling a little stronger. I was advised to get genetic counseling before I try to have a baby but I have a few major problems with this: There are all these funky genes in my family, between me(with celiac disease), my dad(with a thyroid disease) and my aunt(undiagnosed...
  5. Do a lot of people with celiac disease have thyroid problems? My dad has a rare genetic thyroid disease and I'm wondering if there is a connection.
  6. Thank you! I have been gluten-free for about a week and I have noticed some improvements. My stomach pain has been much better but I still have occasional bouts of cramping and diarrhea. The severe fatigue I have been experiencing still comes and goes. I still have a few episodes a day where I just want to lie down and go to sleep.
  7. What is really bad is because I "toughed it out" and kept working and put on a brave face, my original doctor did not believe I was really sick.
  8. For some kinds of stomach aches and for intestinal pain, lying on a heating pad can help more than taking medicine can (just always make sure the pad is not too hot.)
  9. I was diagnosed just recently at 25. I was really fortunate because I work in the health care industry and had access to software and dictionaries and reference materials I could research my own symptoms on. If I had'nt, I would never have gotten help. All-time worst doctor story:Right after getting sick, I noticed my abdomen seemed swollen and large...
  10. I am so glad to hear somebody say that! I get up and go to work every day too and am really relieved that having Celiac does'nt mean I'm going to end up unable to do that. As for grieving, I did not do that at all! It took me so long to get a diagnosis, and so many other possibilities were running through my head, from IBS to the possibility of cancer, that...
  11. I have been feeling lonely lately because I had been afraid to go out very much. I was just so afraid I would have to run to the bathroom. I used to run all over Denver on the bus when I first moved here and just get lost for a whole day all by myself and meet people and find places I did'nt know were there. Then when I got sick, I could'nt do that any more...
  12. Hi. I am a brand new poster at this board. I am 25, a nurse aid (soon to be a pharmacy tech, yay!), I live in the beautiful Denver area, and I have suffered from symptoms of Celiac for about 3 long years but have only recently been diagnosed. I also had a question:About how long after you stop eating gluten do your symptoms start to subside?
