    Labs, goldens, german shepherds, and the giant breeds....not unheard of in standards, but certainly uncommon. Dunno, the symptoms just seem to fit. However, I didn't notice them at all until she'd been here a couple of days. I think that whatever it is (osteoarthritis, dysplasia, etc.) has been brought on or aggravated by exercise. I walk and run faithfully...

    Ohhhhh..... Elsie is really limping. Having trouble with the stairs at times, and very stiff upon rising from her bed. She goes for her checkup tomorrow, but I just do not feel good about this..... ...symptoms of hip dysplasia.....

    Aw, Susie. I'm sorry you're ridin' around on yer heinous menstrual cycle presently.....But you know, it is SO wonderful how we all come on here, even when we're grieving, hormonal, withdrawing, exhausted, depressed....this is truly a wonderful place, with good, true friends that are always here. This says quite a bit about our Sillyville, methinks.....

    OMG...I admire you public, middle and high school teachers SO much. I scurried away from the public system a few years ago when I discovered the wonderful world of adult education, where all the students actually want to be there, it's all teaching and no disciplining (well...not much, anyway) and where I learn as much if not more than the diplomats do....

Kids and DH want to go to Washington, but it's another four hours in the car, and I've heard great things about the history of Philadelphia, and it's only an hour south of NYC...so I'm voting for three...

    Wow!! Out of despair sometimes comes some happinesss...Jess, you now have the opportunity to rescue another darling (or darlings)!... Leo is absolutely adorable. Those two big adolescent siblings,however, kind of stole my heart. They will indeed be less "attractive" to the normal pet shopper, and will wait and wait while the darling kittens get scooped...

    A fine idea, King Peter! Get the yeti on that...or better yet, Janet, since you are a den helper/person for your Cub Pack, have them all over for a Gettin' Close to Nature Jamboree. Tell them that, as they always need to Be Prepared, they should have the needed tools with them and ready - - shovels, wheelbarrows, etc. I'm sure there's a Gardener's Badge...

    Ptaoughmhn! This will be a sad, taxing thing for you. It's very good that you are going to this. Funerals are tough, sometimes agonizing...I've been to many. But, for some reason, I've always felt....what....perhaps a little bit better....at the end of the day, once I had been with others weak with grief. There is, indeed, power and strength in numbers...

    Oh, Jess....I am so sorry about your little guy.... I am thinking about you! Patti! Heinous basement floods...had one on September 9, 2004 - - the remnants of Hurricane Jeanne. We had almost two feet of water in our basement, and we're in a bungalow, so we have a BIG living space down there, including our children's bedrooms. We had a $40,000 insurance...
