  1. That's gotta be on Karen's mantle.
  2. Yep...it's all about what we put into our bodies, no question. And paperdoll, I am with you: the protein in likely ALL grains has never been meant for human consumption. Many of our health problems throughout history (since the start of agriculture) are simply a loud indication of this.
  3. Things are looking up, Karen! America is scrambling to find an alternative fuel to oil; this we know. That is why great strides have been made in developmental research on grain use. Just one small example: www.google.com/search?q=ethanol+wheat&sourceic
  4. Yeah, I wouldn't even bother checking it out now. Thinking back, I actually can't believe some of the things I was talking about in my posts on that...unforgettable...thread. I also remember my surprise that it was being allowed to go on for as long as it did. I guess ya just had to be there. 'Cause there sure ain't no way we'd be allowed to rehash it...
  5. [quote name='CarlaB' date='Aug 2 2007, 04:22 PM' post='331794 Yes, you can see the mods are really worried about this ... take Bev, for example. Also, you might look up the famous Altoids thread ... where is Karen anyway, she's usually here when there's mention of Altoids.
  6. Yep, I know Tom's not a mod...I was addressing the genuine mods, who would then report to Scott, etc., etc. We need more non-Lymie mods? Do they all have lyme disease, or are they all from my Motherland?
  7. See what we mean, fine moderators? SO argumentative! We rest our case...
  8. It's true--if it weren't for Tom's tendency toward argumentative discourse, he would, we're sure, have found his soul mate by now. That is all you were saying, Carla...what on earth am I missing? Must go get some....groceries now.....pant pant..
  9. ...Yes...we do...and in light of all that is being debated in a masterly fashion here, and all of the linguists present (cunning and otherwise), hiding out in shrubbery brief-waving, let's not mention the root of Bev's name...me does think the ice gets just TOO thin here. Nikki, is your name Nicole? So, gluten-filled food is a celiac's pornography.....
  10. Methinks these gloves DO fit... Yes, it's a rather arcane, useless fascination I've developed and nurtured over the years for the histological stories behind names. Old English and Germanic lore have their own special kind of magic. Who's my hero? The wyf of Bath, but of course!
  11. How prophetic...Amy means "beloved" and Doreen is a very negative Irish name signifying moodiness or darkness. Fitting? Methinks...
  12. Yep, being asymptomatic means nothing...I had NO symptoms before being diagnosed, except for low iron.
  13. Porn for celiacs...this suddenly reminds me of a large, unforgettable section of the notorious Altoids thread. We shall never see the equal to it, I'm sure...
  14. Eyes are an "extreme" blue (have heard this word used throughout my life...bizarre). Well, if Tom is, in fact, a master debator, and does a fair amount of...debating...(he does on this thread, I would say)...the need, perhaps, just isn't there for a female counterpart to share in the said debates. Just got this great email from my DH: WHY MEN...
  15. Aaaaahhhh, something so...wait, now, as an adequate word is failing me...astonishing, and marvelous, happened to me last evening, and does have a somewhat stretched connection to all of this. I shlepped up to the mall to get stamps and diabetes meds, dragging along my unhappy nine year-old. No lingering canine stench, but grime from cleaning, complete absence...
  16. Whoa...I never thought of that...maybe we're the only ones with huge, cumbersome pages!
  17. Good one, Jess...Okay, I'm with Susan...my page is HUGE, and I have to keep scrolling all over the place to see everything. What gives?!
  18. I've always called my falling-on-the-forehead, above-the-eyebrows hair my "fringe". This word is never used to refer to this in North America; we all use "bangs" over here. But I love the sound of "fringe"...and it IS a fringe, for heavens sake: fringe (frindz) 1. n. an ornamental border // an outer margin. "Bangs" just sounds so...violent?
  19. Hilarious and so...frighteningly...fitting: If one googles "aga", the first two sites are: The American Gastrointestinal Association and The American Gas Association Man, I love this! I NEED these guys in my kitchen. And my bathroom...
  20. ...Easier to buy another one...ya don't wear it (on your head, anyway)...good selling feature...can make great tea in it...I assume we find it in the kitchen? ...In the bedroom? (whoa...interesting pictures conjuring)..
  21. A veritable surprise! For all of us!! Susan, it's so great to have something terrific suddenly happen to one of us, instead of all the dreaded yucky things we all come on here to garner support over. Way to go, girl. Jestgar truly was onto something...the more laissez-faire one is, and the less one is straining for achievement, and certainly the less...
  22. Ahhh, I missed the funny picture! Put it back up, wouldja, Susan? WHAT girl that dates the guy in my avatar? Curiouser and curiouser...
  23. ...I'm outta marbles... ...I microwave my tea... ...I'm not a regular receiver of flowers (of ANY kind)...sigh... ...An aga?...hmm..this is what our Iranian grocery clerk wears on her head, perhaps? Gee, just reading this, I'm beginning to feel as bad as poor Bev does. Susan, your teeth look very real. The boobs? We'll have to ask Tom. That...
  24. Susan, I forget what you look like. Put up a face shot. Get the guy down the street to take one. On second thought, don't...we want you really smiling, and it just sounds like he's not gonna do it for ya. Mygawd, I wish you lived in Ottawa...my brother has recently entered the single scene again (wife left him for another guy--don't get me started).....
  25. When NASA first started sending up astronauts, they quickly discovered that ballpoint pens would not work in zero gravity. To combat the problem, NASA scientists spent a decade and $12 billion to develop a pen that writes in zero gravity, upside down, underwater, on almost any surface including glass and at temperatures ranging from below freezing to 300...
