  1. Is there a link to a site where one could read an excerpt of the study or see the methodology?
  2. Thank you all for the suggestions and support. I've just honestly been surprised to not encounter anyone so far who has a child with severe food allergies or limitations like celiac. I have a few friends from a long time ago who do not live nearby that have children with some health challenges, and I know adults who are gluten-free for a variety of reasons...
  3. Just popping in to say that my daughter was diagnosed via blood tests and EGD biopsy at 1 (technically, 21 months.) The report that was written on her biopsy indicated that the specimens did show intestinal damage characteristic of celiac.
  4. My toddler daughter was diagnosed via bloodwork and biopsy two months ago, and has rebounded so well on the gluten-free diet. I'm so grateful. However, two months in, I'm starting to feel a bit of self-imposed isolation. We've gone to playdates and parties, but unfortunately we have had to navigate gluten minefields when we play at someone else's house...
  5. Hi and welcome I'm new to this parenting a celiac child thing, too. My two year old had similarly high numbers on her blood test in August, and the GI fit her in to do a biopsy just to be sure there was full evidence for a diagnosis, since it is a life-long condition and my daughter will need proof of diagnosis to get special accommodations in school in...
  6. I'm so sorry for what you've been going through. In our experience, the vomiting stopped when gluten was removed from the diet and improvement continued steadily as we stuck to the diet. I would carefully check for cross-contamination (separate toaster? new separate colander for pasta? pans and cutting boards that don't have deep scratches that could hold...
  7. StephanieL, if you had read my post fully, you would understand I was NOT advising her from the position of a doctor, as I said she should ask her doctor what to do. I was merely presenting to her the advice our gastroenterologist SUPPORTED: that it was fine to start the gluten-free diet immediately after the blood test results, due to my daughter's condition...
  8. How long do you have to wait? Have blood tests already been run and you're just waiting for endoscopy? When will that be? This is not advice from a doctor and is generally frowned upon, but I feel compelled to share: Our daughter was experiencing terrible vomiting episodes whenever she ingested gluten. After her blood tests came back positive with very...
  9. I'm so sorry. If it's any consolation, there are many of us moms on the journey of having a child with celiac that share those exact same thoughts and wishes. I don't know if there is any way to not ever feel sadness over your child having to be 'different' and not able to have a completely carefree childhood, but I guess what I'm realizing is that children...
  10. I just wanted to pop in and say "hi", as I seem to be on the same timeline with my almost-2 year old daughter and her diagnosis of celiac this August. She, too, threw up for three weeks on and off, and seemed increasingly lethargic and had balance issues during that time. We had a difficult time getting doctors to actually test for celiac, as they seemed...
