  1. I think this is a difficult one. I'm dealing with it with my 9yo daughter. Those that know she was celiac negative think I'm overreacting. It's a lot of educating others I guess. And bringing your own food. It's hard, though, with a child. They don't have the confidence to stand up for themselves to family and friends who just don't understand. I personally...
  2. Have you been tested for SIBO (small intestine bacterial overgrowth?). My daughter had the same symptoms and tested positive for SIBO. Being treated for SIBO didn't clear up all of her symptoms, only gluten free did that. I'm of the opinion that the gluten created the environment for the SIBO.
  3. The reason I think it is gluten related is because prior to going gluten free and then again during her gluten challenge she had intense heel pain. Pain that would come on during regular activity, but made worse with running /sports. Since going completely gluten free, she has been fine. Just now with this exposure she injured her ankle just by standing up...
  4. My 9 year old daughter went through testing and was not diagnosed with celiac disease. Unfortunately, they did not do the full battery of tests, but that boat has sailed. Gluten free now since Easter. Problem is eating at the grandparents. They try to do gluten-free, but they just don't understand CC. Over Father's Day we are there and I think she was...
  5. They are Teflon coated with lots of scratches and sticky oil residue. She got sick when I made scrambled eggs in one when I was trying to feed her safely there. It's just hard for others to understand about cross contamination. I know I didn't understand it at first.
  6. Ha! I had to laugh. You are right. It will just take time with the grandparents to see how well she is doing. The biggest problem right now is CC. We are going to have to bring our own pans over there if they are going to cook for her. And that is something they just don't understand.
  7. The only celiac labs done were ttg iga and total iga. She was not iga deficient and the ttg was normal. The reason I'm hesitant to say she is definitely not celiac is that my husband's father has RA, peripheral neuropathy, gerd. Two of his sisters have had gall bladder removal. One sister is on thyroid meds. Another has chronic stomach issues. Grandma...
  8. My daughter just underwent her celiac testing. She was gluten free for a month with beautiful results. when I reintroduced the gluten as a challenge, she had a violent reaction and I realized I should test her for celiac disease. So we had a difficult 6 week gluten challenge for the blood work and endoscopy. Both came back negative. Which I am happy to...
  9. My 8yo daughter is just finishing up her gluten challenge and has blood work scheduled for next week, endoscopy scheduled for April 8th. Her breath test results just came back and she is positive for small intestine bacterial overgrowth. She will start antibiotics. The doctor has said that if she responds to the antibiotics we can cancel the endoscopy. I...
  10. America's Test Kitchen crust is terrific! I parbake and freeze several rounds to have on hand.
  11. She was mostly gluten free for about a month, then we reintroduced it and she got very sick. Funny thing is, she has had gas and boating for several months, odd stools for a few years, but celiac never occurred to me. I took out gluten just to see if it made a difference (don't ask me why I chose gluten, it just seemed like a place to start) and WOW, what...
  12. I am having my 8 year old tested for celiac disease. She began her 6 week gluten challenge 3 weeks ago and I am puzzled by her symptoms. The first week was terrible. Incredible amounts of gas, nausea, headaches, stomach pain and bloating. This only from 10 pretzels each day. Then, while she was still bloated and full of gas, the severity of the symptoms seemed...
