  1. Please let me know what you find out-- I have an 18 month old daughter with nearly identical symptoms. She is going for her first (and hopefully only) endoscopy this Thursday. I have eliminated dairy from her diet, her symptoms are less severe, but she still has extreme bloating, reflux, eczema, etc....I am hoping they find SOMETHING but I am also worried...
  2. Wow! I am glad you found some answers! I totally agree with you on seeing a GI for any of these issues-- I just took my daughter to the GI yesterday and realized that the pediatrician has been very misinformed--as a result, I was misinformed too. I wish I took her to a GI a long time ago!
  3. StephanieL: Wow! Good info to know about allergy testing! I can definitely start a food log and try to steer the allergist to the foods I think cause her an issue. Also good to hear other people say they have personal experience with celiac disease and allergies. I'm curious if anyone else here had a positive celiac dx with microscopic blood in the stool...
  4. Thank you! We have an endoscopy scheduled for next Thursday! Whew! They are going to do an upper scope through the esophagus as well as a scope of the small intestine. They will do biopsies for celiac and he also mentioned checking for an enzyme to determine if she is lactose intolerant or if she has a secondary lactose intolerance as a result of another...
  5. They tried to draw blood at the ped office for the celiac panel but were unsuccessful (chubby arms and little veins). But I read your post to my husband just now and he agrees with you. He got on the phone with the GI and told them he wanted her tested (endoscopy and blood) before she went for allergy testing. I know that celiacs have food sensitivities and...
  6. I have posted on here before about my daughter (17 months old) and her symptoms. -Reflux -Vomiting and stomach pain if dairy is consumed (dairy has been removed from diet) -Gas and major bloating all the time but especially after meals -LARGE appetite for food and water (this may not be a symptom...but i thought i would mention it) -Tends to run a low...
  7. So I am taking my daughter to the GI this coming Tuesday. All attempts to collect blood have been paused until then-- but luckily, the GI appointment is in the hospital, so if they are going to take blood, we can do it right there in the hospital. In the meantime, I've started my daughter on the probiotic powders for children (I just mix a packet with...
  8. Awe that was sweet of her!! The doc is supposed to tell me when my daughters GI appointment is tomorrow-- I will ask about going to the children's hospital tomorrow too. Thank you!
  9. Kareng- Thank you for the tips! I held her down yesterday and talked to her while they checked her arms and hands for veins. I do pretty well with those situations. I'm not sure if the right thing to do would go to the children's hospital and try again for blood (this is not the first time they have not been able to hit a vein)... or just wait and...
  10. I have posted previously about my 17 month old girl's symptoms...here is the link : https://www.celiac.com/forums/topic/111089-mom-t1-diabetic-toddler-has-celiac/?p=941919 Well yesterday, I took her to get her blood drawn to test for celiac disease. She was bloated and irritable and very very very upset after 3 nurses tried to get a vein. She has chubby...
  11. I had to take my daughter off of breastmilk and dairy at 3 months old. When she turned 1 I reintroduced milk and she tolerated it very well for 2 months-- then back to vomiting. I completely understand the desire to try dairy again (especially when I had doctors tell me she would likely outgrow all of her tummy troubles). Even without dairy in her diet, my...
  12. Today is the day I take the little one to get her blood drawn to test for celiac disease! I'm a bit nervous-- especially because they have to draw blood from her little vein. She has been a gassy, cranky, clingy mess for the past several days. Neither one of us has gotten much sleep. She also has a light red rash between the bottom of her nose and her upper...
  13. Thank you for the advice!! I decided to give her coconut milk all day yesterday instead of soy- and amazing she had a firm stool! I guess if she truly has celiac, then her reactions may come in waves? Is that normal? This is all so new to me. Regardless, I will be getting her tested.
  14. Hello! I want to start by saying that this is a great group of people (based on posts i read) and I am very grateful for any help and insight from you all. I am a mother of a 1.5 year old girl. I myself am a Type 1 diabetic and I have brother who is Type 1. Type 1 and Celiac are known to coincide so I have been tested before but was negative. My...
