  1. WOW...So there are more people like my mom in the world. Just when I thought I was the only one with a mom like that. I don't understand what the deal is. The thoughts run through my mind everyday. I have handed her a copy of what gluten is in, but she just doesn't get it or maybe doesn't want to get it. But, I think that the laughing she does about it...
  2. Hi all! I just wanted to ask you if you have run into this problem and how you deal with it... This came up again today, when my mother took me out shopping. It came time to eat lunch and we were looking for a place to eat. She was saying, "oohh, Chickfilee, I like their food, ya wanna go there?" And then when I have to remind her AGAIN for the thousandth...
  3. I don't know how far they will ship them, since I think they have to be refrigerated, but I have to say that the Grainless Baker in Scranton, PA, makes these AWESOME "Butterfly" cookies. I used to be a big fan of Krispy Kreme Rasberry filled donuts and I have to admit, these cookies blow them away!! In fact, I think they are better than anything I ever...
  4. Another tip for you of a lesson I have learned the hard way: No matter how many times you have bought something gluten free, keep checking the label everytime you buy it. I was eating a cereal for months because the dietician I saw said it was on the list, this site said it was on the list. But about 2 months ago, when i was sick and didn't know what in...
  5. All that I want to add is that my doctor told me that it is normal to feel a loss when you have a change in your health or changes due to this type of condition. He said grieving is a normal , human process. No one should be made to feel guilt for a normal human reaction to a drastic change of life. Thats all....
  6. I think that was being very apathetic. I am sorry for your loss. But some of us are greiving more than the loss of food. Some of us have lost many things, not only due to celiac. Some of us have other health issues that have caused us to lose a great job, material things, and yes, family members too. It may not be to death, but in the depths of depression...
  7. Sorry, I haven't been on here for a few days, and I don't know if I will be any real help to you,but to let you know that I have been going through the same grieving process. I was diagnosed in 2/05 and am riding a roller coaster of emotions. I think the grocery store trips have been the hardest for me. I have found that if I go alone, it is much better...
  8. Hello everyone. I have a question about oats. When I was first dx with Celiac, my GI sent me to a dietician. The dietician told me that oats contain gluten, but only oats harvested in the U.S. What are your thoughts on this subject? Can they be safe? Is there a particular brand? And if not, can anyone suggest a good alternative hot cereal. With winter...
  9. Wow! I didn't expect so many responses. I am so glad I decided to write. Everyone gave some great advice and ideas. I am so appreciative. Though the comment about people who have the most problems with the celiac disease diet have something else going on. You got that right,as I said , I have many more health problems going on and have alot of emotional issues...
  10. Hi. I am new to this forum. I have been checking it out for a few weeks and finally have decided to write. I was dx with Celiac almost a year ago and have become more frustrated with the diet than I was at the beginning. I also have a dx of "possible MS" and have not been able to work for over a year now and have been forced to live on very limited cash and...
