  1. Hey!! A lot of my younger friends from high school have been asking me this a lot lately, hoping that they might be able to do it..but I actually wouldn't suggest it for everyone. Unless you are really outgoing, you probably won't meet too many people. I'm not out going at all, but my cousin is a sophomore at the community college in tallahassee and lives...

  3. Hey! i know i went to a kids meeting or two a while ago..it was when i was in middle school..so im not sure what the age group is or if they even meet anymore, i can call my mom back home and ask her if she has heard anything about a kids group meeting. we usually had to drive around 45 minutes to get to a meeting.
  4. hey! so growing up i never knew anyone who had celiac disease, or even a food allergy. back in the day they didn't have any kid support group events so I would go to the regular meetings with my mom. in this particular group, all the people in the group were over the age of 60 and had several other problems as a result of a late diagnosis. as i got older...
  5. hey! so we were talking about it at the beginning of the year, and there are defintely people interested, but with football season and everything it was sort of hard to get a weekend. I think we should do something though!
  6. Hi there! I've never been to a Lutheran church so i'm not sure exactly how they do communion, but in my church at home(baptist) we pass it around and everybody has their own, we don't share the cup or anything, so I just take my little cup of grape juice and skip the host. I know most churches don't do that...when I'm up at school i usually go to a catholic...
  7. Hey! so its been almost 2 months..only one more home football game left and i ran into somebody that has celiac today..again..so i thought we should start talking about this again. we should try and get something going! (hope you all did super on your midterms! haha)
  8. Hi heather! welcome!! is your daughter the only one in your family diagnosed?? if so, i was too..so i know how that goes..haha. but if you are new to it and have any questions about gluten-free bradenton, or how the schools handled it and stuff, just let me know! i have lived there my whole life and had celiac the whole time, so i'm very familiar with...
  9. Hey! so just a little update on my nutrition class.. I built up the courage and asked the guy that teaches my class if we covered celiac at all. He said he wasn't sure, that he doesn't make the lesson plans (he is just a teachers assistant) but that if i was interested in celiac disease, he could definitly get me information on it. I told that it wasn...

  11. I have the same book!!!!!!! and i was just as shocked. im a freshmen dietetics major, and "basics of nutrition" is a required course for i believe everyone in the college of human sciences, which includes everything from exercise science to textile manufacturing. When I got the book in August I was intrigued to see if they had anything about Celiac, so...
  12. Hey there! I had my endoscopy at 18 months. I'm almost 19 now (in January) and I'm glad that they did it back then, now I have that conformation for anyone that doubts me. oh and PS. I look happier in my hospital pictures than any other pre-diagnosis pictures i have. i think it's from all the candy and free stuff they gave me, haha. But I really don...

  14. Hi again! Yea i would use the whole foods market occationally..but its far away, so I didn't go there often. I live in northwest bradenton, and there was a health food store across the street pretty much, it was nice. I actually went to Italy and I went to scotland..and both were sooo understanding and knew what to do, New York was the same way. Tallahassee...

  18. Hi there! I just wanted to say that whether she starts now or later, she is still going to have to deal with being "special" . Sometimes it was hard, like when they made playdough or cooked with flour, or when we made the field trip to Publix in kindergarden and i couldn't go back in the bakery. haha, But really for the most part it isn't that bad, she...
  19. Hey there! I don't know anything about the testing and detox stuff, because when i got diagnosed I was A) to young to remember it and I believe they only had the biopsy when I was diagnosed. I do know that detox is different for everyone, and i think, according to my parents and pictures, that it took about a year for me to be completely healthy again...
  20. Hi..i dont know why I always respond in this forum..since i dont have kids...this stuff bring back my childhood..haha.. Our church was the same way when I was in the nursery. 21. Thats usually how I can tell when I've eaten something! I get a massive headache that won't go away for hours. It usually happens when I go out to eat or when I used to eat in school cafeterias. I think for me it is from the cross contamination. Usually I get a headache if there is some sort of cross contamination and I get sick (stomache ache and bathroom...
