  1. Darn..i know that next weekend is not good for me...Im going to orlando. But that all sounds so great! Meg...do you know if your mom perhaps got the email from me?..i sent an email to two moms that my mom had talked to. I didn't know if you were one of them or if you were just another student and we still had two more in addition to this. Taylor
  2. Yes, It had some stuff, and I could get by on it i guess, but I was still a wee bit dissappointed and hoping to find another one that had maybe a few more options. I had every intention of trying the one on capitol circle today because I didn't have class, but unfortunatly the laziness in me took over and I haven't gone yet. I sent emails to two girls moms...
  3. Hey, so literally two hours before you posted this message, I was having a phone conversation with my mom about how I was running out of food and couldn't find my usual products at New Leaf and how I was having a hard time eating places and stuff like that..So my mom sent out a message to her little email group asking if anyone knew anything about Tallahassee...
  4. Hey im at FSU too!!!! I would love to get together with people!! I actually didn't have class today and went on a health food store hunt. I was sort of disappointed with the one on appalachee. They didn't have Amy's pizza or annies macaroni and cheese. I went to two others (i couldnt tell you where they were) and there wasn't too much there either. You...
  5. The past 4 years I went to dance camps at UF and USF and constantly got glutened, no matter how hard I tried. Fruit always made me feel better. I would usually eat some sort of fruit, drink lots of water, and take a little nap. Most of the time afer that I would have enough energy to finish my day "normally". Taylor
  6. Haha, once again, I obviously don't have any children, but I had to respond to this because I used to do that all the time. I didn't do it in kindergarden, I was a little goody two shoes...but when I got a little bit older, I did this all time to get out of recess, or going to a birthday party I didn't want to go to, or when I was scared to spend the night...
  7. Hi, do you need just a general doctor or a gastrology doctor? I've been up there to see a doctor for just a celiac check-up-type-thing before, If that is was you need I could get his name. Taylor
  8. Hi again, no problem, anytime. I also wanted to point out that your kids are really lucky compared to when myself and others were going through elementary school and even some of middle school. Back then if I wanted to eat a sandwhich it was on a plain flavored rice cake, and if I wanted a snack it was the bite size plain rice cakes, and if I wanted dessert...
  9. Hi there, I realize that I don't have a child, but I figured I would put my two cents in since I went through all 12 years of school + preschool with celiacs. Elementary School: -You should definitly be in contact with the teacher, cafeteria staff, and nurse at the school. Make sure they are all well informed and know who the child is. If at all possible...
  10. Hi, I spent a month in Northern Italy with 2 of my friends. All of my meals were cooked for me by the family I was staying with so I'm not exactly sure where they got the pasta. they knew what celiacs was though and bought the pasta on their own and I never once got sick. At restaurants they knew what celiacs was as well and could help me pick out items...
  11. Hi there! I love Universal Studios and Islands of Adventure!! I go there all the time and have never had too big of a problem. Usually when I go I will fight to go to one of the sit down resturaunts because there are more options. I've never really asked about a gluten free menu, but from what I can recall the only time I have gotten sick was when I ate...
  12. Hi! I went on Carnival 2 years ago. It was a lot of fun!! From what I remember there were a lot of choices on the menu, so I could always find something. However they didn't really make any special accomodations for me, besides like, not putting the slice of bread on my plate. I'm also warning you now, you will be eating a lot of creme brulee for dessert...
  13. My sister is 11, and I teach dance at the YMCA so i have to use clean music as well. she listens to a lot of christian bands and I use them for my dance classes. Even if you aren't religious, the majority of the bands songs give clean lyrics and good morals without neccisarily being "religious" here are some suggestions: Relient K, Hawk Nelson, Switchfoot...
  14. approx. 17 years. I've had it since I was 1 1/2
  15. wow thanks a lot lol. yea like i said, ive got my own apartment and stuff in Polo Club, just off campus. And i love the stadium, thats one reason im going there haha. but thanks for the information on the dining halls, i had a hard time eating at orientation which completely put to rest my fear of living off campus without a meal plan. oh and just so...
  16. thanks so much. i've already decided on an apartment off campus, my parents and I decided it would be easier to have my own kitchen and would save money since you have to get a meal plan now in most dorms.
  17. im from bradenton..right below tampa but im moving to tallahassee this fall.
  18. hey! i'm starting fsu in the fall. Ill be a freshman and ive had celiacs since i was 18 months old. is it pretty easy eating on campus and stuff? i guess you might not know since its your son, but i've had sort of a hard time trying to find any information on food up there. thanks..taylor

  20. Hello! I'm going on a trip to Scotland next week to march in the Edinburg(sp?) Easter Parade with my dance team. We are spending the whole week there, and have to provide most of the meals for ourselves. I know that several of the supermarkets carry gluten free foods that I can buy once I get there, but I was wondering if anyone knew of any resturants...
  21. I only have celiacs. When I was little and I would go to the support group meetings(they always gave out free cookies and stuff i didn't normally get so I went to them even though I was only 6 or 7). All the older women would tell me how lucky I was to have only celiacs and be diagnosed so early. I never believed them, despite the fact that more than half...
  22. Hey! This is my first post on any of these message boards, but I've been a member for maybe 2 or 3 months and have had celiacs disease for basiclly my entire life. So while I can't really remember too much about the recovery process, I can let you know that there are so many products and helpful things out there that will help you lead a normal life. Back...
