  1. Like your mother, I had no overt symptoms, gastrointestinal or otherwise. The only "symptom" was high liver enzymes on a routine blood test. I was sent to a gastroenterologist, who repeated the blood tests, the results of which indicated that I had celiac disease. The subsequent endoscopy and biopsy confirmed the diagnosis. At the time I was 65 years...
  2. Lipitor IS gluten-free. When that "Bible" book came out I read the author's statement about Lipitor and panicked! Called the manufacturer (Pfizer, I believe), spoke to several people including, finally, their head person, all of whom verified the gluten-free status. That's one serious misstatement by Jax Peters Lowell in her "Bible" book.
  3. I was diagnosed at age 65. Had no symptoms other than elevated liver enzymes. I had just been through a very stressful situation which apparently triggered my celiac disease. Tell that ignorant fool to get herself educated about celiac disease and stop giving patients inaccurate, false information.
  4. I'm one of the few with the longer pinky .... was diagnosed with celiac disease at age 65, was and still am asymptomatic. Also have Sjogren's Syndrome.
  5. Your boss is being passive-aggressive on a really grand scale! I'd be so tempted to ask her if she realizes just how cruel she is being towards you.
  6. Father: 100% Irish Mother: 100% Lithuanian Two of father's siblings had "stomach problems" Mother & many of her relatives had Rheumatoid Arthritis -- another autoimmune disease. Don't know for sure where my celiac disease came from, probably the Irish but given the prevalance of the autoimmune RA possibly also from the Lithuanians.
  7. They have the same procedure in my office. The last Friday of every month is "birthday time". I simply stopped attending, and don't even go in my birthday month (November). I'd rather stay at my desk, get some work done, and put the whole celebration "out of sight, out of mind".
  8. A-negative also.
  9. Columbo is gluten-free.
