  1. Went for my endoscopy yesterday. (9wks on gluten) Had bloodwork redone at 7 wks. Came back negative. Dr said she did genetic testing, too and that came back negative. Super confusing, since I've had a rash that looks and acts just like a DH rash (but hasn't come back enough to pursue a biopsy) Waiting for biopsy results and day one back gluten free. Throughout...
  2. I counted out the 27 for a serving according to the box. Vs 1 slice of ww bread. Good thinking, though, I'm curious now how the serving sizes compare.
  3. Hi. Has anyone noticed a difference in reaction depending on *what* the gluten is? (I'm currently back on gluten after 2 mos off until my GI apt in a few weeks.) I have always bought 100% whole wheat products and had my own grain mill, so all homemade flour products were 100% whole wheat. Now that I'm certain I need to go gluten-free, but am back on it, I...
  4. Yes. Went back on it a few weeks ago. I did mess all that up, doing Whole30 for March and April. Thought it was my gallbladder or an ulcer. I am glad I get to keep my organs! But, oops. I'll be on it 7 weeks by the time my appointment rolls around.
  5. My friend's son sees a pediatric GI. She recommended a dr that others liked, but she doesn't have personal experience with him. When I called, the scheduler asked my reasons for the visit and I told her that I suspected celiacs. She recommended seeing another dr in the office that specialized in celiac. After a 2 week headache with getting the referral, I...
  6. I'm still getting diagnosed, but stuck to a whole food elimination diet for 2 months before going back on gluten for testing. Sure, it got boring, but I can't wait to cut it all out again. Someone (without known celiac, but with AI issues) said to me recently, "I feel best when I eat only meat and veggies, but I don't want to inconvenience anyone." I don...
  7. I haven't seen mine yet, but I got a recommendation from a friend who's son has celiac. When I called the large practice, the scheduler recommended seeing another dr who specializes in celiac. Perhaps ask around?
  8. Yeah. I went off gluten, doing Whole30 for 2 months. Then found out it was a mistake. Oops. So, I'm back on gluten and have a GI appointment at the end of June. 3 weeks so far. :/ It is easier than it was at first. I had a headache for 2 weeks straight. Thankfully that has passed. My symptoms are more constant and dull now instead of extreme. How much gluten...
  9. I hear ya. I spend all day in the bathroom *thinking* something's going to happen. lol
  10. I don't know about iodine making dh worse. I'm new to all this myself. But, I did use iodine several years ago to heal my thyroid. So I know a bit about that Iodine displaces bromine and fluoride in the body. Which can be good- those things aren't good for you. But, you body needs to be able to keep up with flushing it all out, or it can cause problems....
  11. Iodine can have a detoxing effect, though I never had a rash from it. Are you doing the full protocol with salt and vitamins, etc? Iodine is awesome, but it's important to do it right or you can cause yourself unnecessary discomfort.
  12. hmm, if you feel that bad with a crumb, this may not be helpful. But, I've been able to build up to eating a bit of gluten, again for a gluten challenge. First time off gluten was horrible! Worse than any day pre-gluten free. But, I ate just a little bit of gluten every day, building up to one piece of bread a day. (taking a day off here and there when it...
  13. Perhaps try a whole foods elimination diet? I felt amazing after 8 wks on Whole30. Brain fog is back now, though, as I'm back on gluten for testing.
  14. Ah, thank you. That makes more sense.
  15. Thanks. I've been back on gluten, about a slice of bread a day, for a couple of weeks. I kinda eased myself into it and have taken days off when it's gotten really bad. Not sure if that's going to be enough for testing, but whatever. The worst symptoms haven't come back. (probably not eating enough) I have a GI appointment at the end of June. I'm on the cancellation...
  16. Yikes! What did I say that indicates ovarian cancer or aorta?
  17. Got a referral (in process) to see a gastro and I'm going to try and eat a little gluten each day. :/ She did tell me that I tested positive for mild allergies to milk and eggs. That kinda makes sense, because I knew I had issues with milk that didn't seem to fit lactose intolerance. And I do sometimes feel sick with eggs. Not sure what I'm going to eat...
  18. I had the testing last year and my dr found that I have both defective genes for 677. But, he kinda dropped it after that and I never really understood what it all means.
  19. Test results are now on my patient portal showing up negative. Looks like she did Tissue Trans IGA, Endomysial IGA, and IGA. The list I wrote down yesterday said that you need tTG, EMA, DGP, IgG & IgA. (I don't remember where I found this list or what they stand for?) Did I only get one of the needed tests? Or? She has been wonderful, actually listening...
  20. This place is great. Learning a lot. Honestly, I've known people with celiacs in the past, but it never occurred to me that that's what could be wrong with me. But the more I learn, the more it fits. One more thought, the articles I'm reading seem to say that we need to avoid gluten meticulously. I'm certain that I didn't accidentally eat gluten, because...
  21. Thank you so much. 8-12 weeks! Oh my goodness, I don't think I can do that. I think going gluten-free made my body's defenses go down or something. I felt bad before, but reintroducing it was completely awful! I still feel queezy a few days later. Let's pray it just comes back positive. lol
  22. I had an enlarged thyroid, but no nodules. Dr felt it and ultrasound confirmed. I had so many symptoms of hypothyroid- weight gain, fatigue, hoarse voice-couldn't yell or sing or swallow (still can't swallow, but mostly at the bottom end. Used to not be able to get it past my neck, either) brain fog so that I couldn't form a complete sentence or respond with...
  23. I've been seeing my dr for a few weeks now about my stomach issues. We've ruled out the gallbladder and h-pylori and today I had the celiac blood tests done. From the reading I've done the past two days, it seems to me that it's highly likely that I have it. I've had digestive issues for years, but they've gotten progressively worse over the past 6 months...
  24. I'm brand new to all of this, so I probably don't know what I'm talking about Just had the blood tests today. That said, I've had this rash for years, not knowing what it was and have cleared it up (temporarily) with milk thistle supplements (that also contain marshmallow root & dandelion root) . My midwife recommended it to me when I had a PUPPS rash...
