I don't know about juice, but rice and beans are really cheap, and fairly nutritionally complete, all things considered.
Get the dried beans, such as pinto, and soak overnight before you cook them. You could make up a big batch for lunches or dinners.
Is there anything you can do to reduce your bills?

I just called the company and they said the "modified food starch" is corn derived....but she said that if my dr doesnt' ascribe to the distilled vinegar being OK, then it's not OK.
Anybody with info on that??
Distilled vinegar is safe.

Yep, all farm-raised salmon has dye added to their food so that their meat turns a nice, well, salmon color.
I don't trust meat of any kind from Wal-Mart. I grilled a steak from there once and it was at the same time medium rare and gray. Eww. We go to whole paycheck for steak now

Oh, okay, our bats shall have their fill...I'll take care of the rest, lol.
I'll try to be patient whilst the bats do their thing.
If it makes you feel any better, we hardly have any mosquitos in Austin, we have the largest urban bat colony in North America living under a downtown bridge! That's 1.5 million bats eating 3,000 mosquitoes a night...
Makes your job easy
Especially since the purple glittery bats need extra mosquitos to be sparkly
I'm totally spinached and pulling a Rachel all this week...
That's right kids, last week of the gluten challenge, biopsy is MONDAY!!!
You know what that means? Severe gluten overload to do as much damage in as little time as possible while eating things I want that I'll never be able to eat again!
I had a bagel for breakfast, pop tarts for a snack, and for lunch...4 slices of bread, a breadstick, french onion soup with crutons, and now I'm eating tiramisu!
My policy this week is to have gluten in hand at every moment!!! Gotta have an accurate biopsy!!!
-
Right now, don't worry about finding substitutes, because a lot of them are both nasty and expensive. I use Tinkyada pasta, which runs me about $3 a bag, which isn't bad. I don't bother with gluten-free bread, I use mission corn tortillas instead.
I would suggest sticking to whole, naturally gluten-free foods for a while, and then figure out what to replace after you've grown accustomed to the gluten-free diet. Not to mention most of the substitutes are unhealthy, since gluten-free foods need more fat and stuff to hold it together, and the nutritional value is nil. I hope going gluten-free solves your fertility problems!!!

According to the Hormel web site, Bacon Bits are gluten-free. Pam is gluten-free, based on the label, it's a ConAgra company and they clearly label. The one that isn't gluten-free is obviously the baking one with flour in it.
Do they grill anything with gluten (burger buns, for example) on the grill?
-
Yes, you can. Proof of this for me is that while on a 3 month gluten challenge for a biopsy (after 4 mos gluten-free)...I GAINED 30 lbs!!!! I'm not being a big piggy either, and most of that weight I gained in the first month. I think my body is just holding on to whatever it can!

Is there a local food bank? You might be able to get help there. I, too would question the decision that you make too much money, unless you spend your money unwisely.
I'd wait another couple of weeks (so that you can pass a drug test, it takes 6 weeks for THC to work it's way out), and then find another job. There are other things you can do...

Oh...and I needed to mention that the red bats are the males, the blue bats are the females....that's because the males are brighter in color and the females are protected from harm because of the darker color. (Mitch comment)
Now, now, let's not be perverting the bats....
They evolved to be purple and glittery so that they would distract their predators and so that Susan wouldn't be afraid of them. Both males and females are glittery and purple...You can tell the difference between the two because the females have comical large red lips
lol Now I hope that those bats are quick with eating all those mosquitoes and flies. If R-ville is going to be the perfect little town than those species will have to disappear so fast that nobody even saw them. Bat's eat quickly, right?
One bat can eat up to 3,000 mosquitoes a night...

I'm thinking we'll take a NFP class, since the husband will probably feel more comfy with it that way...
Thanks for the info!!! What exactly happens in the class?
-
Well, I only add bulk and nothing useful, so I'm leaving the thread.
Hope you all feel better!

The only way the two companies are related is that they both make food. Heinz uses lists, they do not clearly label.
And heinz will always disclose wheat, as they are required to do by law, since wheat is a top 8 allergen. They will hide all other gluten containing grains.

I find that when I get glutened, I react to EVERYTHING for a few days, regardless of how I normally tolerate it. Especially other starches, but it goes away. Hope he feels better

The cheese is in a skinny blue can and it says "shake on popcorn" on it. I've seen it near the popcorn, near the other Kraft parmesan, and near the velveets...all depends on the store. I've noticed that its usually hidden, though

If you're going to do a biopsy, you have to be eating the equivalent of 4 slices a bread a day for 3 months to have a chance of it being accurate. It sucks.
-
I wouldn't go in there, trumpets blaring, ready for battle. I would play the part of the meek and confused (though remarkably well informed) mother that did some research. Dr's have very fragile ego's, you know, and they like to have things be their idea.

After I dunno, 8 years or so on the pill, and looking at another 4 years before trying to get pg, I'm looking into alternative methods.
My periods even on the pill are all but non-existant nowadays, and I'm concerned because of all the celiac related absorbtion problems that I may not be even safe with the pill.
Yes, I have tried the ring, no, I didn't like it. Same goes for the patch. Besides, those are both hormonal anyway.
Sooo... I've been skimming "Taking Charge of Your Fertility" by Weiscler (spelled her name wrong) at barned and noble and almost have DH convinced into trying it (for bc reasons, not ttc!!!)
I'm also amazed that out of the 835 amazon reviews for it, only 6 are one star, and 11 are two stars. That's pretty amazing for a book on amazon!
I'm also considering a class in NFP, and I realize they're the same thing, although NFP is the God version as I understand it.
Who's used it for BC? Does it actually work? As well as the pill? Know anyone it didn't work for (if they were doing it correctly)?
Thanks!!

Sounds like a great substitute for panko bread crumbs

My current RRRRRR....
Doc prescribed special iron supplement supposedly more absorbable, insurance won't cover it 'cause it's over the counter, but it costs $55 a bottle! Any advice on that one?
Leah
I can't even tolerate slowFE. The only one I can tolerate is FlorVital Iron & Herbs, and it has a highly absorbable form of iron and is a liquid. I was skeptical, but I had no side effects and my dangerously low iron levels came up to approaching the low end of normal after 6 weeks. It's not that cheap, $25 a bottle or so...you can find it at whole foods...

Well...I have a suggestion for your chicken and noodles...
People made cream of chicken long before campbells, and it's really easy to do
If you have a copy of Joy of Cooking kicking around your kitchen, there is a recipe for creamed chicken (which is what you use for chicken and noodles)... Just replace the flour with your favorite gluten-free flour combo (I use a blend of rice, potato, and corn starches), you can try Bob's Red Mill all purpose gluten-free mix as well.
I don't have the book in front of me, but here's what I got off the top of my head....
You basically make a roux, you melt butter in a pan over medium heat, and when it's melted, add about an equal amount of flour and cook for a minute or two, and then add 2-ish cups of chicken stock, and cook and stir until thickened like gravy...
Also, Tinkyada is the best gluten-free pasta...tastes just like wheat pasta

First question: Why are you eating cookies and cream ice cream?
-
Chelsea - what???
how could this happen? Oh I'm so sorry....can this be reversed?
(does Taps make you cry? me too....we could hear it in Monterey at 11:00 every night, I used to drive by Defense Language INstitute to hear it - wish someone would play it for me each night before bed...)
Yes, taps makes me cry...I'm a die-hard scout after all
What this woman did is decide that she wanted her toy back (she was their leader in kindergarten). She called each parent and recruited them into her troop. The only reason I have 4 left is that she didn't want those girls, so she didn't call the parents.
When one parent said "I'd like to talk to the leaders about this" the woman said, "I'd rather you wait until I send them the letter"
So she's been recruiting all summer. Within the troop.
There are so many words I've used to express my anger, hurt, and frustration, but none of them correspond with the board rules. So much for the GS law

Day Is Done, Gone The Sun,
From The Lake, From The Hills, From The Sky,
All Is Well,
Safely Rest,
God Is Nigh,
Fading Light...Falling Night...
Trumpet Calls As The Sun Sinks In Flight
Sleep In Peace,
Comrades Dear...
God is Near.
I need a sobbing emotion thingy.
Please God, please don't let me be the type of parent that exists (existed) in my troop. They've thrown a coup d'etat, and didn't bother to let me know until after they were done
They've taken 3/4 of the girls, but deny recruiting within the troop
What's really wierd is that these are the same parents that were praising me just 3 short months ago...
Sorry to be a Downer, I hope everyone feels ok today.

Yep, that's me! Still working on the tiramisu (although all the bread I ate at lunch has already left the building
) and I've got wheat thins in the queue... And triscuits and squeeze cheese at home!
Not to discount the sour punch straws, oreos, pirouettes, ritz crackers, and chex mix I've got in my desk
Blech, I feel like the Stay-puft man. In a way, I'm glad the D is back...the alternate in this ridiculous journey is unimaginable gas! Can't win.
