I haven't found a gluten-free baby snack that will dissovle in their mouths like the veggies puffs. I really wish they didn't have wheat in them
But these cookies work for us so I just wanted to pass it along.
That sucks! I've been known to share the banana puffs with my neice (in the picture), pre gluten-free of course
I've seen these dehydrated fruits in whole paycheck that are styrofoamy like the gerber puffs. They're really expensive, but they're just fruit. I can't remember the brand though, it's in the produce section. They have strawberries, blueberries, bananas and others. I wonder if those would work. The pieces might be too small, though...

ROFL
My own daughter reading my posts about kissing!!!! If I had only known ... hope she doesn't find that other thread about anniversary gifts!
Eep!
We can hope it goes over her head...

I made it seem like my doctor's idea. I went in and said, "I wonder if I have stomach problems because I have problems with certain foods." My doc said, "well, I doubt you have any food allergies, but I'll run a celiac panel and we'll see about that."
Reverse psychology is an awesome thing

When I'm not in the throes of a gluten challenge, my house is 98% gluten-free. I cook nothing with gluten in it, and DH is only allowed prepackaged gluten such as kraft mac and cheese (that he cooks in a seperate pot with seperate utensils), crackers, and cereal.
When I have kids, I have no intention of having them eat gluten before they are beyond an age where they'll be slobbering on me and getting their sticky hands everywhere with the crumbs. Mostly the slobber. If they do get gluten, it'll be with daddy or grandparents only. Mommy wouldn't want to be terrified of a gluteny child!

Damn the cookie! I would have sent it back and gotten one without the cookie in the middle.
Creme brulee is generally gluten-free because good creme brulee should only have four ingredients:
Cream
Vanilla bean
Sugar
Egg
Since they have to caramelize the top at the last minute (or else the caramel gets soggy), it should be easy to get it without the cookie next time.
Most custards are gluten-free, of course you always have to ask. I've never seen a creme brulee or flan recipe with gluten though.
Congrats on taking the plunge!

My first month gluten-free my period was 10 days late. Being the super hypochondriac I am, I called the gyno and they did a blood pregnancy test. When that came back negative, they told me to call back if I didn't have one for three months and they would make me have one with hormones. I would definitely reccommend calling your doctor about it.

it will be gluten-free, but don't know whether she'll be able to chew it.
Sounds gross, but works: Take bite, take drink, then chew
It's like making baby food in your mouth
But it does the job of making stuff soft enough to chew.

Good call, Guhlia! I remember that I tolerated it by not letting near my teeth, and shielding my teeth from the stuff with my lips! I had more trouble with hot stuff than cold...

I love breads by anna from www.glutenevolution.com
and here is my own recipe, which works well (but not as perfect as the breads by anna)\

You know, I had seen that recipe and it looks good. What's a good replacement for the pecan flour? I'm allergic to them. Would almond flour work?

OK, sorry to post in the teen section...but...
I remember my days of braces very well! They will probably hurt you for a few days to a week, and then for a few days each time they're tightened. It sucks badly!
Hang on, are you Carla's daughter? Welcome!
Anyway, back to the braces. Basically, things like soup, mashed potatoes, yogurt, applesauce, pudding, and rice cereal will be good for your poor teeth. Your cheeks may get irritated too. Getting braces is a good excuse to eat ice cream!
As for the party, I'm not sure. Maybe bring some cut up fruits that are softer like mango, melons, grapes, etc. I have a great recipe for a dip to dip fruit in to if you want it. I don't know what would be at the party that you could eat, it depends on if any of it is gluten-free and/or soft. Ask your friend what will be there...

Anyone know what to replace tapioca flour with?

In plain english, gaunt is basically looking sick. Your skin is pale, your eyes look sunken and have dark circles around your eyes. It's not pretty.

I stopped eating pasta a long time ago because I threw up too many times after it. I always attributed it to the tomatoes in the sauce, even if it was something like vodka sauce. Now (when I'm gluten-free, anyway) I don't get so much as a burp from tinkyada pasta and nice and acidic tomato sauce. Go figure.
I also didn't know it wasn't normal to feel sleepy after a bowl of spaghetti...
Um, now that I'm eating high gluten to prepare for testing, I'm pretty much stoned all the time. I think the amount of gluten counts, but when you've eaten high gluten for a while, your body gets used to it and compensates as best it can.

Thanks Much! Now how do I explain to the little woman, what I'll be sending off in the
mail
Maybe if you call her little woman while you're sending it she'll be too busy smacking you upside the head to notice the tupperware full of poop

Canada Dry ginger ale is gluten-free

The spoon theory is heartbreaking, but so true. It would be a great way to explain any chronic illness, including celiac. Thanks for the info!

They also have little packets of gluten-free/low sodium soy sauce!!

Here's one on about.com that is naturally gluten-free!

And a couple others that would need tweaking...

Now that I feel better today and can think more clearly, that is what I should do. Provided my
doctor agrees...
Beware that if you haven't been eating at least the equivalent of 4 slices of bread a day for the last 3 months, it may skew your tests. Just a thought.

I used to skate also, and other athletic things when I was little. I started getting horrible vericose veins when I was 16 (the huge, ugly, blue, bumpy ones) and I attributed it to being overweight. I didn't know vitamins or minerals had anything to do with them. If it is a low mineral thing, that would explain why they keep getting worse. Sorry I'm not more help, but I wanted to let you know she's not the only one.

Rice dream is NOT ok for Celiacs. NO amount of gluten is safe, and most will react even to that tiny amount.

THank You all!!
We are going to try her on a gluten-free diet until a week before her Dr's appt in August. Then we will let her have at the bread and crackers again. Her poops are getting more frequent and more runny,
You should have seen her with the honey wheat bread at the OutBack Steak House this afternoon. Oh how she loved it!! That was the last of that. Ah well, guess I will become a baker
Luckly my older daughter will eat anything so it won't be an issue who gets what and shares what with who.
I will post again to report our findings as there are findings.
Thanks again!! -Loreli
Is she going to have testing at that appointment? Blood? Biopsy? Either way, eating gluten for a week before isn't going to do anything. If you're doing testing, she has to be on wheat (and a lot of it) for 3 months.

All flavors of Jelly Belly are gluten-free (the buttered toast flavor used to have gluten, but doesn't anymore, and that was the only one)
Enjoy!

On that note, does anyone know of a good gluten-free cream soda brand?
I'm pretty sure A&W is.

I can't seem to tolerate vitamins and they generally make me sick, gluten-free or not. I was taking the kids gummy vites for a while but they upset my stomach too. That's just a point of information, I don't have a solution. I just don't take vitamins...
