I know Starbucks is supposed to be gluten free but I seem to get so sick when I go there unless I have just plain coffee with milk. -

Tamari wheat free soy sauce is great! Double check the ingredients but it is also not as salty as regular Soy Sauce which is good with me. Sarah -
ARCHIVED What Would You Do?
Thankagirl replied to Thankagirl's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
Thank you all for your input. I got ahold of the other Dr in the office and he said to just stop taking it - duh. I obviously had a problem with it. The next day I felt great. But for future I am looking up every medication first. I was just so excited to get pain free. I felt like I lost 2 days to fog and itching and feeling down right awful. ... -
ARCHIVED What Would You Do?

I just got a new Prescription for Etodolac - the generic version of Lodine. Lodine is gluten-free but I cannot find out if the generic is. Yesterday I started taking it anyway (I know probably real dumb) I have had brain fog and itchy armpits and head. Now the issue is dizziness and itchy can be side effects. My stomach is fine. I called the pharmacist... -
I am sorry your quest for answers on your health is so frustrating. I can only tell you that it seems we have all been through a lot to get the few answers we have. For me I gave up on doctors to deal with the Celiac. I know a gluten-free diet works for me and I stick with that. I should be monitored in some way? I don't know? Does anyone know...

ARCHIVED "sick" All The Time?
Thankagirl replied to Thankagirl's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
It is great to know others are going thru this. I have 2 young kids and yes I am sicker than they are. And my poor babies have been pretty sick this year. I get them to the doctor but to find the time & energy to get me to the doctor is just not happening. Why should I go when they have just told my kids they can't help them for the same thing I have... -
I have been sick since christmas time. I am jumping from sinus infection to the bad stomach bug to respiratory gunky and back again. I can't seem to feel better. I get one or 2 days every month of feeling ok. I have been relatively gluten-free for 5 years. And this feels like the most sick year ever. Does anyone else have this problem? I feel like...

ARCHIVED Advise Needed
Thankagirl replied to Thankagirl's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
Thanks for all those ideas - My son is going to have to learn to not be so picky. At least he will try things. It will be an adventure. but I think in the end we will all benefit from it. Sarah -
My son is 5 and is showing some signs to me (as a gluten intollerant adult) that he may have problems. On top of it 80% of what he eats is gluten. I want to try him on a gluten free diet and see if he perks up. Tired a lot, keeps getting sick - any illness that has gone thru the school my son got it. All the tests did not show one thing gluten wrong with...

ARCHIVED Went To The Gastroenterologist And Now Im Confused And Embarrassed
Thankagirl replied to jodikris's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
My experience is I gain 15 pounds a month when I eat gluten. 5 years ago I fought the idea of being celiac because I was fat but I realized when you are not absorbing what you need your body increases its fat as a survival technique. It is not a proven study or anything - just my coming to terms with what was happening to me. I lost 50 pounds just eating... -
thank you for your warm welcome! My mom is a smart woman and knew from all I had been through that it was very likely that she had the same problem. She did it all on her own and is doing much better. She had gotten to an extrememe point before getting tested but the tests - as with me- weren't really conclusive. She started the diet and started feeling...

5 years ago I went to someone affiliated with St. Barnabas Medical Center in Livingston NJ, His partner is now a recommended Dr on this site - Dr. Zalman Schrader. I am going to make an appointment with him. The original Dr I saw was very open to everything I said and admitted he had not had too much experience with celiac but after much testing agreed that...
