ARCHIVED List Of Power Bars/gels That Are gluten-free
lapetit8 replied to Sandyo's topic in Sports and Fitness
I'm fairly sure most of the flavors of Balance Bars are gluten free. -
Ok, so I ate at Tropica restaurant tonight and I would not recommend it. They had a very small gluten free menu but the items were just things that are naturally gluten free (they didn't have like gluten free bread, pasta, etc.). I believe the choices were steak, chicken, halibut, branzino, and lobster. I decided on the branzino which was stuffed with...

ARCHIVED Updated - Starbucks Information
lapetit8 posted a topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
Recently, someone had posted on the board that Starbucks products containing "mocha" were not gluten free. I decided to contact the company to find out exactly which drinks were gluten free and which ones were not gluten free. The products that are NOT gluten free are only the Frappucinos that contain Java Chips, Vanilla Powder, and/or Malt Powder. ... -
Ok, well I made a reservation for Friday night. I will let you know how it is.

Has anyone ever been to the restaurant in NYC, Tropica? I just read at www.glutenfreerestaurants.org that they have a gluten free menu. I'm thinking of trying it out this weekend. Can anyone give me an idea of some of the items on the menu? Thanks.
-
Ok, just for anyone who is interested... I went to Carmine's the other night (the one in the theatre district) and the waiter told me that ALL of their items contain gluten. The items that do not say they are "breaded" are covered in flour. However, our waiter was very aware of Celiac Disease and spoke with the chef about it and made me plain grilled...

Yes, I'm going to the one in the theatre district...I think it's on 44th. I looked at their website where you can see the ingredients listed in each of their entrees. There are a few things that look gluten free but I'll have to ask about the "Chicken Broth" to see if it is "real" chicken broth or bouillon.

Hi, I'm going with some people to the restaurant, Carmine's, in nyc. Has anyone been there before and knows of anything that is gluten free on their menu? Thanks.

ARCHIVED Parkinson's--a Celiac Connection?
lapetit8 replied to elye's topic in Related Issues & Disorders
Wow, this is interesting. My father has Parkinson's Disease, but not the shaking/tremors kind. He just gets very stiff at times and has some of the other symptoms. And he has shown positive on some of the tests for Celiac Disease, however, he refuses to go on the gluten free diet or be further tested. -
It definitely sounds like an allergy. It could possibly just be enviromental allergies but if it happens after drinking soy than I would cut soy out and maybe get tested to confirm the soy allergy diagnosis.

The best way is to contact the company of the cosmetic that you want to use. Or try posting a message to the forum since someone may have already recently contacted the company. -

ARCHIVED Los Angeles Restaurant List
lapetit8 replied to Anthony Michael's topic in Gluten-Free Restaurants
Ok, well I've been to Los Angeles a few times and although I don't know of any restaurants that have gluten free menus, I do know of a lot of restaurants that are very accomodating. *The Polo Lounge (at the Beverly Hills Hotel): I stayed there when I was in Los Angeles and they would make me anything that I wanted. They told me that the next time I come... -
I have heard a lot of people say that Ruby Foos in New York's Times Square has a gluten free menu, is this true? If so, what are some examples of entrees that are on it? Thanks.

ARCHIVED Starbucks Gluten Free Drinks
lapetit8 replied to lapetit8's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
I have not yet received an e-mail from Starbucks so I decided to call their customer service number today. They said that usually the only frappuccinos that are not gluten free are the ones that contain chips. However, since the banana coconut frappuccino is a new drink they have not determined whether or not it is gluten free. In about a week, they will... -

ARCHIVED Claritin
lapetit8 replied to lapetit8's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
Ok, thank you all for your help! -
My doctor recommended that I take over-the-counter Claritin for my allergies. I've been looking online to see if it is gluten free and some websites claim that it is gluten free while others dispute that statement. Does anyone know if it is gluten free or not? Thanks.

ARCHIVED Fluoride Treatments
lapetit8 posted a topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
I've heard that many fluoride treatments and other pastes and such that dentists use during a cleaning contain gluten. I contacted my dentist and found out that he uses Ziroxide Premiere. I then called the company to find out if it is gluten free. They claim that it is gluten free, although I'm still unsure if they know that gluten is listed as other things... -
