  1. Well, as you can see from the pic, my teeth were worn down badly. The dentist went in and took out all the amalgam(silver) fillings. Then every tooth was gone thru and filled with white composite. In some cases he did what's called "crown build ups" where composite material is added to the tooth structure to make it big enough to hold a crown. ...
  2. This fits so well with my symptoms it is uncanny. I've had this on and off for like..ever. I never knew I wasn't "normal".
  3. Interesting this matches my symptoms exactly. I also feel kinda and groggy for a couple hours after eating something glutened. But I can certainly relate to the rumbling tummy and follow on symptoms...
  4. How long does it take before you notice you've eaten something with Gluten? An example, yesterday I ate an Apple Fritter for breakfast and about 7PM, I got sick. So...2 hours, 4 hours, etc...anyone?
  5. Ya, I realize it is only a possibility I have it, but it's quite coincidental that I have these enamel defects and I'm also having symptoms. Not enough to make me buy in, but enough to certainly make me wonder and get tested.
  6. If you were a doctor, wouldn't you look at teeth like that and wonder? Wouldn't you want to explore any possible connection?
  7. Before and after pictures of my teeth when they were crowned. I posted this to show the enamel defects I'd been talking about. This is simply not normal. Anyone else with this problem? In the before picture, notice how worn down my teeth are due to lack of enamel..... Ya gotta admit, if you had this, you'd be suspicious about celiac disease also...
  8. Yes, my symptoms and my dental defects make me believe I need to be tested. I understand they test you for antibodies. What tests should I make sure they run on me? If the antibody test comes out positive on me, do I have to have a biopsy? I think I'd like to pass on that....
  9. Yesterday I ate an Apple Fritter for breakfast, just to see what would happen. A couple hours afterwards, I started feeling fatigued and groggy, sort of like not getting enough sleep. O.K. no big deal..this happens.. felt better after lunch. In the afternoon I felt better after my noontime run. I decided against discussing the possibility of celiac...
  10. I've also noticed that I get tired, sleepy and feel gross after eating things with a lot of Gluten. Pasta, Crackers....donuts...all seem to do it. Never made this connection before and perhaps I'm just being a hypocondriac....
  11. OK, how about just one question: How do you pronounce celiac disease. Sell aaaa ick? Sel iiii ick? Sell- ick? Thanks.
  12. First of all, I'm not even sure how you say it...can someone relate that to me? I'm going to go to my dentist today and will talk to him more about my Enamel Defects and the possibility of it being celiac disease. Now for my questions: -Anyone care to guess what my chances of actually having this is? Mild symptoms...severe enamel defects? ...

ARCHIVED How Do Doctor's View Celiac?

Being a newbie here, I don't know what the Enterolab route is...could you elaborate on that. Thanks!
  14. I just talked to my twin, who also has severe enamel hypoplasia. He has pretty severe joint and muscle pain, arthritis like symptoms, serious gum problems, mouth ulcers and "burning tongue". Different symptoms than mine but also consistent with celiac disease. If one identical twin has it, I'm guessing the other one probably would. Hmmmm.
  15. I've put stars** by the symptoms that I have. Hmmm starting to REALLY wonder here. I thought I was normal.... Signs and symptoms The diverse range of coeliac disease symptoms may make it difficult to diagnose. There are over two hundred symptoms that have been identified; not all people have the same symptoms; some people have no symptoms at all; and...

ARCHIVED How Do Doctor's View Celiac?

Unfortunately I belong to the infamous Kaiser Permanente HMO, and I don't know if they'll view celiac disease as something real, or just a fad diagnoses. They don't like to pay for anything they don't deem medically necessary and I certainly look healthy, so why should they bother with this? The only thing I have in my favor is I can point out this severe...

ARCHIVED How Do Doctor's View Celiac?

As I posted on one of the other forums, I'm interested in exploring Celiac Disease as a possible cause of my severe Enamel Hypoplasia. At age 40 I had to have ALL my teeth crowned, because there was no enamel left and I would soon have nothing left to eat with. In like 10 years my teeth went from being granite hard, to soft. I have mile gastro symptoms...
  19. First, anyone out there that had Enamel Hypoplasia or defects as one of the primary reason they were diagnosed? If so, I'd like to hear about it. Second, how is Celiac viewed by mainstream medicine? Are there those doctors out there that view this as a "qwack" diagnoses? Will my doctor think I'm out of my mind if I bring this up? Thanks,Jerry
  20. Thanks to everyone for your responses. I appreciate it and will pursue this with my doc. The teeth problems I had were very dramatic. When I was 25, my dentist told me my teeth were hard as granite. Didn't think I'd ever have a problem with tooth loss. By the time I was 35, my teeth were worn enough that a different dentist was recommending crown reconstruction...
  21. Would there be a way I could test it by experimenting with my diet. Say eliminate anything containing gluten for a couple weeks, then start eating it again and see if I get any symptoms. I hate to go to my doctor saying "test me for this" and seem like a hypocondriac, without any data. Thanks for your response.
  22. I've wondered about Celiac for some time now. What got me wondering about it is I was diagnosed with Enamel Hypoplasia. At age 40 (I'm 45 now) I had to have all my teeth crowned, because they were worn down 3/4 of the way down to the gumline. My dentist mentioned he knew of a few things that might cause Enamel Defects and Celiac was one of them. I...
