  1. I guess this is the meat of my confusion. How do I KNOW that going gluten free is essential? Honestly I feel fine, I just get the runs when I eat too much pizza. Just playing devil's advocate here, but this is a huge huge lifestyle commitment! With due respect to Enterolab, there is a lot of debate in the medical community as to the validity of stool...
  2. I'm seriously more confused then ever. I was not expecting this.
  3. Hmmm, I was thinking that my results were going to be borderline or inconclusive. These are clearly much more elevated than I expected. I guess I need to decide to go gluten-free now or wait just long enough to see my HMO doctor and have them give me a blood test. Surprisingly, I've not had that many symptoms since sending off for the test. Just...
  4. Hey everyone, my results are in from Enterolab. Here's what Dr. Fine has to say... Gluten Sensitivity Stool Test Fecal Antigliadin IgA 42 (Normal Range <10 Units) Tissue Transglutaminase Stool Test Fecal Antitissue Transglutaminase IgA 20 Units (Normal Range <10 Units) Interpretation of Fecal Antigliadin IgA: Intestinal antigliadin...
  5. I ordered the Antigliadin Iga and Antitissue transglutaminase IgA tests. I didn't order gene testing. You raise a good point about where that leaves us who KNOW we are gluten sensitive. If I test negative.. do I just go on about my business...eating gluten...dealing with the runs and cutting back when it gets too bad? Do I simply assume all...
  6. I sent my poo to Texas. I hope they find it of satisfactory quality.
  7. Just want to report that I had a successful rendevous with my Kool Whip container this morning and it looks like success!! Glad that's over...just hope no one gets in the freezer in the garage;)
  8. Yep they call the person that graduates number 1 in their class "doctor" they call the one that graduates last---"doctor". Which one do you think works for Kaiser? Sorry to any Kaiser physicians that are members of this board:) To be fair, when you get that kind of volume coming thru your office, it would be difficult for anyone.... They especially...
  9. It's because I have Kaiser...they MIGHT diagnose me if I had blood running out of multiple orifices. Kaiser isn't there to make you feel better. They will attempt to keep you from dying but that is about it. He says scarcastically...
  10. The reason I didn't go to my HMO to be tested, is I simply doubt their ability to diagnose me, until as you say below, "it would be 10 years until they are able to diagnose my problem"... Now if Enterolab's tests come back with really high levels of antibodies, then I'll go to my HMO and request blood work, just to see if it correlates. Otherwise...
  11. Thanks for the info. I am glad I'm doing the test. It will be interesting to see the results. On a side note, it says in the Enterolab instructions "Pass one complete BM into the container". Without getting too graphic...exactly HOW MUCH is that? Depending on the day...it could be...really small or really BIG. How do I know if I've supplied...
  12. Ok, now you've made me spit my morning coffee all over my screen.
  13. Of course today (stop reading right now if you don't want too much info) I poo'd FIVE times. My little kool whip container is at home, where of course I will be unable to use...probably for days...since I'm usually at work.
  14. Oh yeah, they are now piloting the use of UPS as the carrier of their "stuff". Hopefully they'll not have a clue. I hope I can get this "business" done this weekend:)
  15. So my cool whip container and shipping stuff came yesterday evening. Yaay, I am so looking forwards to using it. Just like those Cialis commercials, I'll have to wait until "the time is right". I'm certainly not going to do this at work;) OK, so seriously, I'm a little leery of Enterolab. I know they are not mainstream medicine. I see a few threads...
  16. Hey, it's been a week now and I still have not received my yogurt container and funnel. Am I being impatient, or should I have received the packet by now? Their website does say it was shipped on or about Nov 29th. On the flip side, I've had very little symptoms since ordering my test Maybe there's nothing wrong with me after all??
  17. Well, I was a boy scout and grew up out in the country. Bears go in the woods and so did we when we were out camping. However I don't like giving new meaning to the term "going for a run"
  18. Yes and it wasn't one my proudest moments.
  19. Thanks much, that makes me feel better about it:) What I will miss most is the sudden attacks of Diarrhea when I'm out running. Nothing like stomach cramps and a frantic scramble thru the underbrush by the side of the road, searching for some leaves(besides Poison Oak) and a secluded spot, to make you feel truly alive....
  20. And NOW neither will I
  21. Is it hard to get it picked up? Do you have to keep it frozen?? yucky! I live out in the country and I don't even know if the carrier will come out there to pick it up.... I am worried that I will find out I have it. I admit I don't want to cope with the lifestyle changes I will have to engage in. However testing and confirmation is what will...
  22. Yes it's hard NOT to look forward to sending my poop off in a box Wonder how I'll 'splain this to the kids....
  23. Howdy, I hope at least some of you remember me. Thanksgiving pushed me over the edge. Three days of foamy D later, I placed my order for Enterolab testing. Anyone that's followed my posts knows this is a big step for me, as I've been very much in denial. Anyone experienced with Enterolab testing know how long it takes to get the stuff which...
  24. Thanks for your reply. My wife wonders why I do not simply go to Kaiser and get diagnosed. The problem is, like many who realize Gluten could be causing them problems, they tend to not eat as much. I certainly shy away from anything that I think is going to give me the runs, I'm funny that way. When I finally decide I must have been imaging it...and...
