  1. Thanks, they may be running others besides the EMA, that's the one I picked up on. Wish I knew how long it was going to take!!
  2. Difficult to guess whether I'm going to test positive or not.... If I were a betting man, I wouldn't touch this one...I honestly don't know.
  3. Well, I haven't been gluten-free for about a month. Even if it's negative I'm going to go gluten-free, I feel better.
  4. Also, I gotta admit...I'm really nervous about this now. If this comes out positive, there will be no more denial. I feel like I'm having a baby:)
  5. I base my opinion on documentation like this: The aim of this work was to establish the diagnostic and follow up value of IgA-class antiendomysium (IgA-EmA) and IgA-class antigliadin (IgA-AGA) antibodies in celiac disease. Correlation with the intestinal histology at the different stages of the disease was evaluated, as well as its therapeutic monitoring...
  6. I'm pretty sure they are running EMA-IgA which is highly specific for celiac disease. They are probably running some other ones, but EMA was the only thing my rubbernecking could make out...
  7. I think they are running anti-endomysial, the stickers said EMA.... The lab technician seemed to have no idea what test this was. (freaking rubber band they put on my arm hurt way worse than the needle) Do you guys think Kaiser knows what they are doing? I think this is the test that most closely correlates with celiac disease, but I'm not sure...
  8. Mom is quite a vibrant 70, so I think she might try it, just to get rid of the rash. She's now waiting on the results of my genetic test, with interest.
  9. I'm pretty sure the Chili Cheese ones have gluten in them, but the regular do not.
  10. My wife and I are going on a Mexico cruise in 10 days. You can bet I will be very careful before and during this cruise as I want to feel my best. I don't plan to eat anything that even looks remotely questionable. I am so looking forward to some sunshine......and warmth...
  11. Thanks, actually I didn't really realize that. I just type what's in my head(well some of it). Is there an easy way to see and/or print all of your posts, chronologically?
  12. I suspect, as my mom heard me talk about it, she saw a lot of herself in my description. Mom lost all her teeth in her early 20s...as she called it "just bad teeth, and back then you couldn't afford to have them fixed". Well, mom was 4'11" at her maximum, lost her teeth and now ON her 70th birthday has the classic rash(In my non doctorly opinion)....
  13. No, I haven't been Gluten Free for about a month now I think. I abandoned gluten-free when I decided to get the blood test. My body is certainly still reacting strongly to gluten, whether or not I have positive bloodwork...I dunno. I ordered the gene test from Enterolab also. Between these two additional tests, I should have a better idea. Both positive...
  14. The gene test will be interesting. Hope I don't show up as being missing a bunch of chromosome's, or worse have the genetic makeup of a farm animal... "We're sorry sir, but we're unable to complete the test as your DNA seems similar to that of a bovine".
  15. As of yesterday he was...AND he was telling my mom how much it has helped his gastro symptoms. He's lucky, since he's my genetic clone, he doesn't need to pay for testing...he can just sponge off of my results;)
  16. Just curious what you all think about Gluten Withdrawal. Wondering if it's real, and what it feels like. I'm not really sure I've felt anything that I could attribute to withdrawal, but perhaps some increased anxiety/agitation could be related to withdrawal Any experience...do you feel worse for a while, before you feel better? What are your symptoms...
  17. Thanks for your responses. I did feel better on Sunday. I'm sending off my cheek swap specimens today to Enterolab. My doctor has ordered a Celiac panel for me. We will see;)
  18. I had a horrendous day. Not really gastointestinal symptoms, but I just felt tired, depressed, lethargic and really out of it. I would have attributed this to Gluten, if I had eaten any in the last couple days, which I hadn't. Only thing I did that was unusual was I pounded down a bunch of cottage cheese yesterday evening. One helping wasn't enough...
  19. Hi, how do you get a diagnoses, good question? I belong to Kaiser. In about 2001, I went to them complaining of lethargy and depression. Before I knew it, I'd been prescribed an anti-depressant. I had severe reactions to the anti-depressant, they gave me tranquilizers (Klonopin). Klonopin made me even more depressed....eventually, I caught on and flushed...
  20. When I eat gluten, it seems like my hands and feet are tingling and slightly numb. I don't know if it's my imagination or what....but I certainly do notice it. This is in addition to all the other crappy feelings....
  21. Just got another email from him... I feel great! I think its time to tell mom
  22. Hi, I was on Klonopin quite a while back, maybe 5 years and I don't have a good opinion of it. I was prescribed KP, to counteract Anti-depressant induced anxiety. Klonopin actually made me more depressed, although at this point I was too far gone to complain...I didn't know it was the Klonopin. The main problem with Klonopin is it has a huge half life...
  23. E-mail from the bro... I am convinced you are right
  24. Well, after my Enterolab results, I reluctantly went two weeks gluten free. After two weeks, upon eating gluten again, I felt very horrible in about two hours. Body aches, depression, anxiety, weepiness, irritability itching...and then diarrhea. Repeated glutening ALWAYS produces these symptoms. Incidentally, several years ago I was prescribed an...
