  1. Now that I feel better today and can think more clearly, that is what I should do. Provided my doctor agrees...
  2. So...like on Saturday when I pounded down Krispy Kream's, Pizza...chinese food and got really sick, I'd eaten a LOT of gluten. Previously I was sure I didn't have it because a couple of pieces of bread didn't make me sick. So the question is, how much difference does it make for YOU, if you eat a little bit of Gluten, like a piece of bread...or a...
  3. Thanks for your responses. I couldn't even work yesterday. Today I feel much better. I had meat and potatos yesterday....
  4. I am in the Portland/Hillsboro Oregon area. Still trying to figure out this whole gluten free thing.
  5. So on Thursday and Friday, I felt so well that I smugly thought no way can I be Celiac, I feel too well. On Saturday I was a terrible Gluteneater. The wife and I stopped at Krispy Kream and bought doughnuts. Then we had pizza with the kids for dinner( I ate two pieces). Then later I ate some Chinese food...You know...deep fried Shrimp....Cashew Chicken...
  6. It's very annoying. I can understand the D, but why the constipation? Any ideas on that?
  7. So the last too weeks I had the big D and when I didn't have that, I was going multiple times a day, like 5.. Now suddenly I have almost the opposite problem. I'm only going like every other day and I'm fairly constipated. What's up with that? No diet change. Still eating whatever and yes plenty of gluten. Is this consistent with celiac disease and...
  8. Look for sleep aids that contain doxlamine succinate. It is the strongest over the counter sleep aid you can buy and literally knocks the heck out of you. Don't take a whole one, at least to start out. I've taken Xanax and this stuff actually works better.
  9. I’m curious if some of you can relate what your symptoms were like before you received an official diagnoses. Were your symptoms sporadic? Were they constant? Were you asymptomatic and was celiac disease discovered because of a non GI issue. Thanks!
  10. I was wondering if Gluten simply made him feel so crappy, tired and painful, that he simply doesn't get enough exercise.... It's hard to go for a walk if you are so sore you can barely move....
  11. I was trying to explain Celiac to my twin the other day. My brother is frankly overweight, but he hurts all over the place. He has the classic aches and pains that you could attribute to celiac disease, plus we both have the severe enamel hypoplasia that I discussed earlier. He wanted to know how something like celiac disease, could manifest itself...
  12. I think what I will do is eat a normal diet right now, unless the symptoms get so bad I am once again ill and convinced I have it. Wife and I are going on an Alaska Cruise in 3 weeks, so I don't know how I would do a Gluten Free diet and cruise at the same time, although I could try. When we get back I'll have a blood test, just to see and then I will...
  13. So I spent the bulk of last week gluten free. Diarrhea went away....pretty much. I seemed to feel better, aches and pains stopped etc.. On Friday afternoon, I decided it was time to start chow-ing down on gluten again, to see if I could reproduce the effects. Saturday evening I had a hamburger with a gigantic gluten loaded bun....and Sunday morning...
  14. My wife will actually fondle the bread in the store, especially if it's warm. Bread, Pastry, all that stuff, she just loves it. I on the other hand am not all that interested in it. I mean bread's never really impressed me that much. I've always been a meat and potato's type of guy. So a lot of the wheat I've been eating is incidental stuff...
  15. You know, I'm not sure I even care if I have a biopsy. If I have the blood test and it comes out postive, plus I have symptoms when I eat Gluten, I think that's good enough for me. Any thoughts on that?
  16. OK, so I did what you guys said not to do and I stopped eating Gluten to see if my symptoms went away. I know, I know.... For my own sanity I had to do this and see what happened. After eating only safe stuff for 4 days, here's the differences I note. -Most of my GI symptoms have abated. No more cramping and D. Stools (sorry) are not so loose...
  17. Hmm, interesting, I wasn't sure that this was a symptom of it. Now I have Enamel Hypoplasia and yellowish un er...poo. It will be interesting to get tested... I have no obvious symptoms of malabsorbtion that you'd notice from looking at me. Other than short stature, which I got from my 4'11" mother (I managed 5'6"). I'm a muscular 175 pounds...
  18. Sorry for the gross topic, but I've had this problem for about a week now, ever since my last bout of the big D. I believe it's getting better now, but what is the deal with that? Is it a symptom also and does it go away? Thanks, I promise not to ask any more poo questions, at least today
  19. Anyone know if low potassium is consistent with celiac disease? It's one of the things the docs have pointed out to me a few times. "Gee your potassium is kinda low". Of course they never offer up any explanation for it....
  20. Thanks, I realize that I need to be eating Gluten so that testing will be positive. I also understand that going back and forth on the diet is not the goal. I just want to understand if Gluten really effects me negatively before I proceed with testing and going on the diet. I just want to be a little more convinced that this could be my problem, before...
  21. After Monday's debacle with the Apple Fritter, I've been trying to lay off of anything that could possibly have Gluten in it. I've eaten Eggs, Potatos, Salads, Chicken Fish etc. Last night I had a baked potato. Today I feel the best I have all week with no cramping or D at all. Can it make a difference that quickly or is this a placebo effect? ...
  22. One of my main problems with docs has been I don't look sick. As a man they expect you to be big and strong. I've watched my HMO treat myself and my wife differently. We can have the same flu bug...she'll come out with three different medications. They'll pat me on the head and tell me to drink plenty of fluids. Doctor's wonder why men don't go to them...
  23. Does Caffeine exacerbate Celiac? Does coffee/caffeine bother folks with Celiac? I don't seem to tolerate coffee well. Thanks, Jerry
  24. Thanks everyone for your responses. I will try to motivate myself to discuss this with my dr. I'll load up on apple fritters right before the test
  25. Well where I work, we have a good dental plan and they wouldn't touch this. I think they paid a small amount, but nothing near the 20K that it cost. The insurance company viewed this as a cosmetic problem....ya right! My teeth were worn down to the nubs. In retrospect it was worth it just for the quality of life....being able to eat...but it was...
