ARCHIVED Schar Ciabatta Rolls
graindamage replied to Streetlegal's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
We've been getting the Schar Bagettes and the Sub Sandwhich rolls. I've never had any other's. These are, by far, the best gluten-free (and vegan) rolls I've ever had. I had given up hope after trying the Ener-g breads, which are the worst bread products I've ever tasted. -
ARCHIVED Article About Progress On A "celiac Pill"
graindamage replied to spg7000's topic in Publications & Publicity
I suppose this could be good news for people who believe they are avoiding gluten and are still getting sick. However, I am still very disappointed that there isn't anything that will allow me to sit down and, say, once or twice a year, eat a meal containing plenty of gluten. I don't get bothered by small amounts of contamination, so the pill won't help... -
ARCHIVED Is Corn Safe?
graindamage replied to xxndnromeoxx's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
Actually, Corn is NOT gluten-free. All grains contain gluten, it's just that scientific studies have determined that the gluten in Barley, Rye, and Wheat is the type that causes damage to the intestinal villi. Oats are avoided because of contamination with Wheat. There is belief among some celiac's that uncontaminated oats may still cause problems for... -
ARCHIVED Omg...i Might Be On To Something
graindamage replied to Rachel--24's topic in Food Intolerance & Leaky Gut
Rachel, have you considered taking probiotics? I am gluten intolerant, and I think I might be corn intolerant, however, even after getting rid of these items, I was still feeling sick. I then began taking 3 types of probiotics on a daily basis from Natren, Open Original Shared Link. I started taking the dairy free versions of Megadophilus, Bifido Factor... -
ARCHIVED Soy Curls
graindamage posted a topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
For all the Gluten Intolerant vegetarians/vegans, or people who'd like a meat alternative that is gluten-free, check out this company: Unfortunately, their seasoning isn't gluten-free, but you can make your own. I plan to order some to test it out. Open Original Shared Link Butler Foods makes this product called "Soy Curls." This is the information... -
ARCHIVED gluten-free Vegan/vegetarian In Nyc?
graindamage replied to graindamage's topic in Gluten-Free Restaurants
It has some veggie foods, but it's not 100% vegetarian. -
Hi, I'm looking for some 100% vegetarian restaurants in NYC that have a significant number of Gluten-Free foods. I already know that Open Original Shared Link, but I was hoping to find some more vegetarian/vegan restaurants that have gluten-free options. Thanks, Scott

ARCHIVED Once You Know What Food Problems You Have...
graindamage replied to FaithInScienceToo's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
I tried everything, even after eliminating gluten and corn I still got sick. Finally, I started taking some probiotics and after two weeks of taking them, I no longer get sick at all. Specifically, I take Natren's: Megadophilus - Dairy Free Bifido Factor - Dairy-Free Digesta-Lac - Dairy-Free -
When I first cooked the Food for Life breads, I felt the same, but I noticed that, for some reason, the bread has to be cooked a lot longer in order for the oils to be released. Once I did that, I really enjoyed the bread.

ARCHIVED What Is Your Usual Reaction After Eating Gluten?
graindamage posted a topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
I had been gluten-free for 6-8 weeks and then started eating gluten everyday for 3 weeks since I had believed I needed to eat gluten for the upcoming tests I was going to have. I then went with Enterolab, which doesn't require the patient to eat gluten before the test. I did not get sick at all. I continued to eat gluten for another 3 weeks (6 weeks in... -
I haven't been "glutened" in a long time now, but I've been "corned" many times. It seems that I'm noticing a greater presence of corn in products than gluten. Anyway, I always relied on Ener-G for egg replacer, but now that I'm corn intolerant also, I need to find a gluten-free, CF egg replacer. I didn't even check the ingredients on the Ener-G Egg...

ARCHIVED Millet Pancakes - Vegan
graindamage replied to graindamage's topic in Gluten-Free Recipes & Cooking Tips
We don't know the brand name, we get ours from the bulk bin. I believe ground millet and millet flour would be approximately the same measurement. Give it a try. -
Here is a recipe that my wife has been making that is delicious AND vegan. The tofu, optional, adds some additional protein, but doesn't affect the taste, so if you are soy intolerant, leave it out: 2 cups millet 2 cups water 1 banana 1 tablespoon maple syrup 1 teaspoon vanilla 1/4 teaspoon salt (1/2 to 1 cup firm tofu, drained - optional) Blend...

ARCHIVED Anyone Else Have Trouble With gluten-free Breads?
graindamage replied to ebrbetty's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
I don't have any problems with the gluten-free bread, but I get the same symptoms when I eat corn as I do gluten. It seems as if, for many, grains should be avoid 100% of the time. I feel best when I eat fruits, vegetables, and legumes. -
ARCHIVED Corn Intolerance But Not Allergy?
graindamage replied to graindamage's topic in Related Issues & Disorders
Thank you, that's very informative. Do you know if there is a test for corn intolerance similar to what I did for Wheat at Enterolab? I didn't see any tests on their website for corn. -
Hello, I tested negative for corn allergies by my allergy specialist. The test was the type where I laid on my stomach and they proceeded to jab sharp objects into parts of my back. Within a few minutes, they could look at the reactions on my back to see if I had a specific allergy. Wheat and corn were among the allergins I was tested for, and only...

ARCHIVED Why Am I Gaining Weight? Soooo Confused
graindamage replied to deena647's topic in Related Issues & Disorders
Hi, Dena, I highly recommend that you read the information on this website. It's by far, the best source of information about Atkins and why we lose weight with certain foods. Open Original Shared Link Good luck, Scott -
Some Dosa's have wheat, but most do not.. However, they are still cooked on the same grill as the wheat ones, and the bread is also cooked on the same grill, so you'd be getting some cross contamination. The white rice patty is called Idly. Here is a common recipe: Idly rice 2 cups (Ponni rice if possible) Urud dal 1 cup cooked rice 1/2 cup...

ARCHIVED Enterolab Results
graindamage replied to graindamage's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
I spoke to Phyllis at Enterolab, and she explained that the Fecal Antitissue Transglutaminase IgA number does not represent the damage that is being done to my body. She said, however, that the Quantitative Microscopic Fecal Fat Score shows the damage done to your body. In my case, it's 60, so no damage has taken place yet, but because of the Fecal Antigliadin... -
