  1. Since merging with Glutino, Gluten Free Pantry is keeping only their top 10 mixes, so they are not making their delicious Coffeecake mix any longer! I am so sad! I used to make it all the time, adding little blueberries to the mix. It was absolutely to die for! Has anyone else loved this Coffeecake mix and want it back in production? Their phone...
  2. The zPizza I went to is in the Mountain View, California area. It is HORRIBLE (to me, anyway). The pizza crust is definitely more crispy, but the pizza crust tastes like rancid shortening and overpowers any pizza flavor you could possibly taste. The owner apologized and said she would relate the comments to corporate, but was powerless to change anything...
  3. My girlfriend and I just returned from the Gluten-Free Culinary Summit that was held in Denver. I wanted to share what restaurants we ate in during our four days there. We did splurge at Fogo de Chao (Brazilian) - their lunch is $24.50, which is a lot cheaper than their dinner, so we could afford it. The caramelized bananas, cheese bread, mashed potatoes...
  4. There is a Johnny Carino's Italian Restaurant right in Gilroy off Highway 101. They have a Gluten-free menu (no pasta, but their chicken dishes are delicious). They have Gluten-free salads and soups. I have eaten there lots of times - not too expensive, but definitely not fast food. Look them up on the Internet. Also, bring some toasted bread in with...
  5. To answer a few of the questions about the Sherry Cake. I used the exact same ingredients from an old recipe using the Betty Crocker gluten cake mix as a base
  6. I kept some of my most favorite gluten recipes with the hope that one day, someday, I could eat gluten again. I had a few cake recipes using Betty Crocker
  7. I originally posted this in the Restaurant section, but thought I should also post it in the Travel section in case someone was traveling to the Bay Area in California and wanted a great place to enjoy Italian food. We went to dinner at Willow Street Pizza in Los Gatos, CA (they also have restaurants at near Westgate and in Willow Glen in the San Jose...
  8. We went to dinner at Willow Street Pizza in Los Gatos, CA (they also have restaurants at near Westgate and in Willow Glen in the San Jose area). They are famous for their wood-fired pizzas. I ordered the Gluten-free pepperoni pizza and it was absolutely delicious! Crispy crust, very good. I wanted to pass along a few things I learned. While dining...
  9. Just got back from Honolulu. I stayed at the Marriott's Waikiki hotel, and one of their restaurants' chef, Chef Miles, made me Gluten-free pancakes in the morning for breakfast from my own Gluten-free pancake mix I brought with me (no extra charge!). That was so great to enjoy pancakes along with the breakfast buffet in the morning! I realize some people...
  10. My girlfriend and I enjoyed Gluten-free pepperoni pizza at ZPizza in Mt. View yesterday! It was absolutely delicious! And affordable, too. I paid about $11 for a personal pan pepperoni pizza (which is perfect for one person), and the $11 also included a soft drink. They are located at: 146 Castro St., Mountain View, CA 94041, (650) 314-0088. They do...
  11. After hearing on another celiac forum that someone eats at this restaurant, we headed over there yesterday during our lunch hour. As you walk in, don
  12. I never heard of a pizza kitchen under Space Mountain. I think that the Liberty Inn at the American Adventure in the World Showcase at Epcot made my pizza in a dedicated oven in their kitchen downstairs? Maybe that's what they were referring to. It was Amy's cheese pizza, followed by a delicious Gluten-free brownie. Aahh, life was very good that day!...
  13. Just got back from a fantastic time at WDW! Ate like a Queen for 8 days (24 meals!) with the Deluxe Dining Plan (which includes appetizer, main meal and dessert). My
  14. We just got back from the Gluten-Free Summit in Providence, and I wanted to share the restaurants we dined at while in Rhode Island and Massachusetts. The Summit was phenomenal, and we enjoyed all of the chefs cooking and baking for us! The Grille on Main - 50 Main Street, East Greenwich, RI - undeniably the most incredible restaurant we have dined at...
  15. Amici's Pizzeria is located at 225 W. Santa Clara Street, in downtown San Jose, CA. Their phone no. is (408) 289-9000. They now carry Gluten-free Still Riding Pizza crusts and serve Gluten-free pizza! They are also trained in cross contact issues. It's a bit pricey, but so worth it if you want to remember again what it's like to order a pizza and...
  16. We enjoyed Gluten-free blueberry pancakes (with blueberry compote and whipped cream) at the Almaden Road, San Jose location on Sunday. It felt great eating out with my family on a Sunday morning! I also talked with the owner about other breakfast items celiacs could order. She said that they could also cook eggs on a clean grill; they could take...
  17. There is a Carino's Italian Grill in Gilroy which we have eaten at a couple of times. Bring your own bread to enjoy their herb-oil dip. Their Chicken Scaloppini is absolutely delicious! Since they do not carry Gluten-free pasta, ask for their dishes without pasta and substitute roasted potatoes instead (or other veggies listed on Gluten-free menu). I...
  18. Just wanted to let you know that I ate at Mimi's Restaurant last Saturday night in San Jose, California, at Westgate (near El Paseo de Saratoga) and had an excellent dinner! I spoke with the manager, Tom, and he assured me that the Tuscan chicken dinner was indeed gluten-free if they did not put the croutons on the dish. The sauce is only composed...
  19. I wanted to pass along another restaurant I think celiacs would enjoy! My husband and I drove from San Jose to Union City last Friday night to "try out" the Texas Roadhouse Restaurant. I really wanted to experience a new restaurant, so I did not mind driving in the Friday night traffic up that way. My husband went along with my idea of driving up there...
  20. Please check out the website below regarding a gluten-free Culinary Summit which will be held in Colorado on August 26-28. Chefs from all over the United States will be teaching classes on how to make gluten-free sauces and gravies, pies, breads, etc. It will be held at the Copper Mountain Resort near Denver, and every class is a winner. My girlfriends and...
  21. I have already e-mailed about how wonderful the Hilton Metropole Hotel is. Even with all my research of wonderful restaurants in London, we ended up eating a lot at the Hilton Metropole Hotel restaurant (Fiamma) restaurant because they were so accommodating. We did, however, eat in a few London restaurants that were terrific. Be sure to make reservations...
  22. As promised, I wanted to summarize my experience traveling for 2 weeks in Europe. I am breaking this e-mail up into two parts - Italy and then London/Paris/Edinburgh. This was the first time I have traveled since being diagnosed 4 years ago (except for my annual GIG conventions!). Sorry for the length of the e-mail, but I wanted to give as much information...
  23. I just got back from a fantastic 2-week vacation in Europe. I will go into more detail of which restaurants you can eat at while visiting Rome, Sorrento, Pompeii, Edinburgh and London in another e-mail, but in this e-mail I just wanted to share with you the most welcoming and endearing hotel and restaurant a celiac could ever stay and eat in while visiting...
