  1. Ground him to the potting shed with Tel. Getting dirty is always good therapy.
  2. You are producing antibodies to gliadin, tissue transglutaminase and casein. None of these happen in "normal" people. You are not excreting more than the normal amount of fat, so your intestines aren't too damaged (yet). You also carry genes which are associated with gluten sensitivity.
  3. uh...Em...? Twisted ankle means Barca-lounger and grudgingly helpful children devoted servants...
  4. It's not a spectrum. Currently Celiac is defined as 'damage to the intestines' or DH. Gluten intolerance is and verse reaction to gluten (wheat barley rye oats) which includes Celiac disease. How strongly you react to a bit of wheat depends on your body's chemistry, not the name given to what you are experiencing.
  5. It does get better. I had "glutenings" without gluten up to 1.5 years after stopping gluten. Never figured out why. Now I can trace all my accidents. Also, some people's reactions never get better, but mine have become more mild. Hang in there. It will get better.
  6. Start with these, and go from there. Probably in that order.

  12. They can check your ferritin: Open Original Shared Link Chronic anemia leads to low ferritin levels. Your body first seeks to maintain your hemoglobin levels, and in the absence of sufficient iron intake, it will get it's iron from stored ferritin. You can be "slightly anemic" but have no stores of iron left, which can lead to other problems. Once...
  13. Is that Hee hee? or hee hee ?
  14. Or just ask for your numbers. Since my 'crit around 29 when they checked, and many women are around 35, they assumed I was only slightly anemic. Unfortunately (for me) my normal is around 47, so I was quite anemic, and symptomatic.

  17. Love Tufte! Thanks for the graphic. I found the other just as I was leaving work. Difficult to follow, but it did have the source noted on it.
  18. I had a lot of these - heart racing, shortness of breath, chest pain, when I was anemic. I had been chronically anemic for some time, and I noticed when my 'crit got below about 26 or 27 I had an increase in symptoms. My chest pain only went away after months of taking iron.
